View Full Version : I'd love an IDW movieverse story

Look, I know there is a LOT of hate over the Platinum Dunes TMNT movies, but am I the only one who would love to see a comic based on Bay's films. Many fans believe the transformers movies were terrible (I think they were), yet the IDW comics and adaptations were probably THE best material set in the TF movieverse. An adaptation of the 2014 film would have been a THOSAND times better then the film, with Bobby and and his team doing the writing art, and creative work.
I'd love to see a miniseries set after the movie that gives us what the movie didn't (time between the movieverse turtles just hanging out, some actual ninja in the movieverse foot fighting the turtles, a story that there is more to them learning martial arts than 'splinter finds a book', and a proper send-off to the eric sachs character, possibly turning him into a classic tmnt character, etc) With a different set of writers at the helm, with high quality turtles material under their belts, don't you think an IDW comic could make the movieverse a whole lot better?
(Once again, please no brining the arguments from the other threads, and no, 'I'd rather have a better movie', we already know all that!)

Didn't IDW clarify they wanted nothing to do with these movies?

yes, they did. But I can dream, can't I? :(

Basically if IDW totally reinvented the actual story from the movie? Gave us mutagen super soldiers, a logical backstory for Splinter training the Turtles and his vendetta with the Shredder, maybe even Eric Sachs as Shredder?
Yeah, I'd be down for that. I wouldn't want an ongoing, though.

A comic series could definitively better explain a lot better some of the things that took place in the move, especially Splinter and learning by a book alone like you used as an example. A comic could have delved more into what apparently one of the (rejected) storyboards wanted to tell, that the mutagen, or whatever else they experimented on Splinter, made him learn things faster by simply observing. Visual aid stored into muscle memory, which would have explained how Splinter got relatively skillful with martial arts and other human activities by simply observing. I could also explain how the Turtles also picked up martial arts and dancing moves like Mikey did by just seeing a music video right on the fly.
And a more in-dept storyline on the history with Sacks, Shredder and why the Foot was not doing so well.

I was genuinely surprised we didn't get any sort of tie-in comics, with IDW doing tie-ins for EVERY Transformers, Star Trek and GI Joe movie - all running alongside ongoing comics of the same property..

I feel like IDW would make a fantastic TV show over a movie. Don't get me wrong, we need new plot ideas for the movie, but I think that after Nick's TMNT is over, they should do a show that follows the IDW series, kind of like how the 2003 show followed Mirage.
I mean... ehh. IDW's already giving us a pretty ideal modern adaptation that a decent new TMNT movie series could and maybe should be. It'd be somewhat interesting to see if they could salvage BayTurtles, like a challenge... and I'm sure they could pump out something a thousand times better in their sleep. But there's no way it'd be better than what they're already doing, IMO, and I'd rather they didn't waste their energy and talents on anything less.

April and the lab origin is kinda IDW-ish.

Give us Archieverse-based films (with the science fiction aspects, especially later with bad guys like Armaggon & Verminator X)!
