Do you guys think it's possible to see a dead Splinter on a TMNT show?I know Ciro wanted to have Splinter dead in the new show and have him return through flash backs of his teachings. Do you think any one would be aloud to do anything like that with approval of the company they work for? Or what conditions would need to happen for this to be approved?

I think the only way they could do it is if he was dead before the show starts telling the story.
Look at how much heat Hasbro took in the 80's for killing Prime in the movie. That was the 80's when the world wasn't so sensitive.

It could work if done right.
That's pretty much my answer to most things in shows/movies.

Possibly, I can imagine that. But what about wisdom ? Where will the turtles draw wisdom from ? I understand they could remember his teachings, but a time would come when they need specific wisdom.

While not mentioned, it's easy to understand it already happened in the future of 1987 cartoon's "Once Upon a Time Machine"

I don't see any show aimed at a young audience going that route.

Depends on your age route. If for younger kids, that could be impossible unless they want a tone similar to Digimon Tamers where they killed quite a few characters or even Batman: TAS. However, if it aimed for a more teen demographic or young adult demographic, I see it happening. I'd be interested in seeing a main character truly killed. :)

Splinter actually was dead in the 2003 episode Same As It Never Was and it was mentioned.

Maybe? If the plan is for the show to be short, then I could see that.

I could see a series aimed at older teens and adults where the Turtles are likewise now adults - say mid-20s, or 30s to catch them up with the age of their franchise - and the duration of the series covers some years of their lives after Splinter is gone. If he has died of old age (or however), then set the stage by opening the series just as his funeral is ending and we follow the brothers as they try to go on with their lives without him. Obviously lots of flashbacks and prob there in spirit via dreams or meditation at times.
Now if you want to straight out kill him in an episode and see it... well, good luck. I don't see that happening too easily.

itd be great for a splintleress season
if not a season maybe a 5 part mini series something like the xmen series where most of them died w/ the gambit assasin series

Absolutely. There's been several instances where the Turtles thought he was dead, so why not make it so sometime? Maybe not right now in the Nick series, but later on or in the next incarnation. It could be rather interesting to see how the the Turtles and co. react to losing their Sensei.

I don't see anyone giving that the OK, be it for the inappropriate nature of death in a children's series, or due to his iconic status as a character.
Of course it could happen, I honestly don't undrestand why anyone would say it's not possible besides their own personal feelings about it. Viacom wouldn't care about it. Of course children can take it, it's happened in many other cartoons. This isn't killing one of the four turtles or April.
Now of course they wouldn't kill on screen Splinter in a fight, or even after a big fight. It'd be more subtle most likely because of "old age" or some disease.

Nah, too boring.
It's pretty lame in Mirage where Splinter died, it's a downer Splinter died in 2k3 (Same as it never was), it's pretty boring when Splinter was presumed dead in 2k12.
So no.

With all this talk of Splinter dying, out of curiosity who else reads MNT Gaiden?

I think it would make for really interesting storytelling. There's a lot that could be explored in the turtles' relationships with each other and Splinter if the story were to open at the point of grief.

Define 'dead'.
'Dead' as in: stabbed through the heart....but will come back to life when someone pulls out the dagger in a later episode?
'Dead' as in: pulverized into a zillion particles by an atomic blast....but reassembled in another dimension, trying to return to his own dimension (Donnie knows how) ?
'Dead' as in: scratched by a Zombie, making him a Zombie also, so, technically dead, but retaining enough life to still more or less function normally and crave brains as food ?
'Dead' as in: character killed in a 'car accident' because the producers got sick of the actor's antics? (unlikely with a cartoon.....)
'Dead' as in: NickToon 'dead' ("I can't believe he's...gone!!"), meaning he'll return 2-3 episodes down the road, no explanation necessary.

Yes but in a more serious one ,. Not the current Nick show. If the next show is as serious as 2003 show was then yes it will be possible. But we all know that we will never get a more serious TMNT show until Nick decides to sell tmnt to someone else.

Sure, of course.
I mean...how many Disney movies have there been where the main character's mother has been offed? Same thing.
But then, for me it's not only Splinter that keeps the family together, it's him and Mike.

Why not? Since we're speculating on Splinter dying, that seems a good example to use for discussion. Mind, it's not how I'D do it, but it's ONE way it could work.
sorry guys
Don't be. I'm surprised no one else mentioned it, actually. I liked the story, but sadly, I gave up during the lengthy hiatus when Leo and Nobody were battling on the rooftop and he almost killed him while that Foot soldier Karai sent with him was watching.

It's not that unusual for a character to die or to have been dead in a kid's cartoon. A preschool show, definitely but not something PG.

Iron Man's dad from Iron Man Armored Adventures was presumed dead for the entire first season and most of the second season.
Several characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender and Korra have died.
The mentor from NFL Rush Zone is a computer program that has the memories of a dead scientist and makes several references to how he isn't the real guy because the real guy is dead.

It could work, but I think if it happens, he should be dead by the hands of Shredder. Think of all the stuff that could flow out of that, rather then merely have him die of natural causes. I also agree with the the others: Nick won't do this as long as it owns the franchise. TMNT would have to be owned by somebody not so 'kid friendly,' and ballsy enough not to succumb to 'TMNT is for children' or the cries of outraged soccer-moms.
Otherwise, any chance of these alternative scenarios happening are less then -0%. Not with a corporation dominated by Spongebob, and the Western mentality: 'Cartoons are for kids.'

It would be hard to deal with since Splinter is the glue that holds the guys together, but we all know it'll happen sometime. If they were to do it in this current show, maybe show a future where Splinter is gone and the Turtles have to fend for themselves. They don't have to show the death but just imply that he's gone and the guys are alone.

It could happen, but the turtles won't ever linger on it. Nick turtles are notorious for brushing serious stuff off like a case of bad dander. For Ra's sake, Leo self sacrifices early on in the show to complete a mission and so the others can live...and what to they do? Put on a couple frownie faces.
Your brother just died. Thats not frownie face material.
I think it could legitimately happen in the Nick series. I just don't think it'd be as sad as it needs to be though.
