It means GC has four controller slots but the game is only 2 players.

I think that is the one thing thats really neat about the GC. it has the multi jacks right on the system. you dont have to buy anything to beable to play with four players if you have a game that allows for four players.

I have been reading alot of stuff for the new TMNT game and I am starting to get worried. with all the hype and everyone saying how great it's going to be. what are the chances that its going to end up just being a complete and total let down?

I reserved it the day the reservation became available at the local Game Stop.

I just don't want to be dissappointed. I bought Wolverine's Revenge and well. .. I wasn't impressed and I had really high hopes for that game. I just dont want to feel like I am wasting money.

so.. has anyone actually played this yet? like a demo or anything

It's Konami, so there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Well, like I said in another thread, I harbor no illusions about the new TMNT games.

Are they gonna be classics of Zelda quality that people are gonna hail as being some of the finest pieces of gaming excellence ever for years to come?

Don't kid yourself.

Are they going to be simple, fun distractions, a way to amuse yourself for a few hours without feeling like you completely wasted your time?

That's a bit more likely.

When it comes to licensed games, it's ALWAYS best to keep your expectations low, so as to be pleasantly surprised. Like whenever I see a new Batman game, I always expect it to be only slightly more pleasant than an oral bowel movement. That way, when a game like Batman: Vengeance comes out that's actually pretty good, it's cause for celebration. The new TMNT games should be good for what they are, and fun to play, but they're almost definitely not gonna be world-shaking, ground-breaking games. TMNT fans will love them, non-fans will say "eh".

Remember, no video game company will ever put forward more than 50% effort for a licensed game, since they know they can make something only "fair" instead of "great" and that fans of the license will still buy it, then they can make some parts of the game slightly better for the sequel.

What, you expect them to actually try? We CAN'T have THAT...

Konami's done wrong before *coughyugiohcough*.... however i doubt they'd screw up a TMNT game, mostly because they know if it's good they'll make quite a bit of money from it.

Didn't they also completely ruin the Contra franchise, or was that something else?

yes, yes it was. but they did make up for it with Contra Advance that i remember being pretty good.

The TMNT games were great -for what they were- but the fact of the matter is that they cater to fans of the series and that genre specefically. It's like how I think WWF No Mercy is a great game, and it is a great WRESTLING game, but I still wouldn't say it's a classic that almost everyone who plays it would love. Same deal.

I expect to like the new TMNT game, but I also don't expect it to get good scores from reviewers, since they tend to emphasize games that have a wide appeal, and the fact of the matter is that most gamers who are more "sophisticated" (riiiight...) outgrew beat-em-up games long ago and crap on anything that takes less than 60 hours to beat and doesn't have multiple endings.

EDIT: I still play the old TMNT games too, by the way. Still simple fun after all these years.

Well, to be fair, just like a lot of TMNT fans don't read any comics besides TMNT, a lot of people who don't play too many games are only gonna buy the TMNT game just because it's TMNT. Since they aren't as familiar with other products, they're a lot less nitpicky and negative. :)

If we are lucky it will introduce them to the joy that is video games and they will become addicted and spend hours playing video games instead of having a social life......

atleast that way I wouldnt be alone..

I belive it will score realtively well in IGN[7 or 8], In my experience they have the best reviewers of internet gaming sites. Pf course it won't be a Jesus game like Zelda, I don't think anyone thinks otherwise, but I have little doubt that it will be a very fun action game for the fans of new show.

Hmm..everyone ive ever talked to about video games have loved the old tmnt games..but almost everyone was a fan back in the day. I consider turtles in time to be a "classic" video game.

Altough I don't care much for the old cartoon anymore, there is no denying that the first Arcade game is one of the best beat em' ups.
