Was the original spelling for Mikey's name Michelangelo? Because I remember reading that somewhere, but is'nt the actual spelling Michaelangelo?

It was spelled wrong in the first comic book but later was changed i beleve

Yes, in the original comic it was spelled Michaelangelo. It's not wrong but is an alternative spelling of Michelangelo, which is how the original painter's name was spelled.

They spell it Michelangelo now.
