Outside of April O'Neil, who is your favourite member of the Channel Six News Crew?

I always saw missed opportunities with Burne Thompson in the 1987 cartoon. Instead of dropping the character he could have been gullible and bought into Dregg's act. He could have been Dregg's PR guy and thus biggest public sullorter. After being shamed when the truth comes out he could have attempted to redeem himself by imitating Gadget Man thus getting in over his head the Turtles save him thus coming to peace with himself and his Jameson-lite vendetta. I wrote a few scripts of fan fiction playing off of this a gle referenced above.
Irma was good too. I was boping for her return in rhe Nick series. For shame the character was used the way she was. Vernon I never cared much for.

Out of those three I'd have to say Irma. Her man and dieting obsessions got/get old fast, but every now and then meek little Irma proved she can be a tough cookie when she has to.
Burne never had enough done with him, and Vernon was successfully annoying as intended; but he made a good office enemy for April.

Irma easily considering the other options, though I will admit that Vernon is pretty funny sometimes. I wish they had kept his season 1 characterization.

Vernon is the hero we deserve. He's about as anti-feminist as you can possibly get, trying to constantly harass and scoop April on her story, and he's a narcissist in that he only cares about himself. Yet he's a coward when things don't go his way and begs April and the Turtles to save him.
Vernon was truly the best mouthpiece of the original cartoon. A guy who wore a pink shirt with suspenders every day and did the things he did, what a breakout character for a children's cartoon in the 80's.

Probably Irma. Always hated Vernon as he was such an unlikable tool.

Irma all the way. Her man thirst was amusing, and was somehow able to jump back to entertaining even after it wore thin in any single episode. And it is here that I proclaim from the mountains, that I think Irma is cuter than April.
Most of all, she's the character I personally want to adapt for my own retelling.
Vernon and Burne came close to being fun, but they missed that bus. Concerning Burne's girlfriend...I'm not sure if she should have been around a little more? On one hand, she got pretty annoying, but good gravy, what a reason for Burne to be anti-turtle when the rest of his excuses were fairly aimless.

Irma. She was the only one of the crew besides April the turtles trusted enough to bring to the lair, and she was helpful to them on many occasions. She eventually even had her own Turtle-com! I liked her personality; she was fun, quirky, and smart, though her man-crazy side and her obsession with dieting could be over-played at times.
Vernon was my second choice, if only for his rivalry with April and his stuck-up, self-absorbed personality and his cowardice. He had plenty of funny moments because of them!

Irma.
Although the one thing that I probably liked most about the 2014 movie was that it actually made Vernon into a likable character.

When was that? Did I miss a post-credits scene where he donates to an animal shelter or something? :tlol:

Honestly, I'm surprised anybody likes ANY of these three characters. Gah. As a kid, I hated all of them. As an adult, I still hate all of them.

The Channel 6 news crew had some of the best source of comedy in the series. If April didn't have them to interact with she would just be interacting with bland one-dimensional extras then.

I kinda thought it was when he was thinking himself cool with that stupid hat while waiting for April. Basically, "likable" in a pathetic way that garners some sympathy from the audience. :tlol:

both were absolutely hysterical!!
but Irma just had more silly gut-busting one-liners! :D

I'd say Irma. Her obsession with men was over-the-top, but I found her still entertaining to watch. At least it was shown that there was more to her than meets the eye in a few episodes like Combat Land and Shredder Triumphant.
Vernon and Burne were funny as well, but they were mostly one-dimensional. I would have liked if Vernon had kept some of his season one characterisation. The episode Burne's Blues showed what Burne could do instead of being in Channel Six most of the time.

I disliked them at first when I was a kid. But I honestly think they got better as the series went on. Plus, when you're a kid, you just wanna see the Turtles kick some bad guys' ass and will hate any grown up who will stand in their way. I think characters like Irma and Vernon are enjoyed better when you're an adult.
Vernon is a great heel. He's not a villain but he's pretty good at making you want to laugh at his misfortune.. Don't care much for Irma, despite her having some fun moments especially in Donatello's Degree.
As for Burne, I liked his voice and the way he said "gogogogoggo!". Who has never had an asshole boss?

Ye, Vernon was alright in season 1. In Shredder vs. Splintered, he believes in April after requiring some proof for a possible story. But I don't think it was a bad idea to turn him into the narcissistic dickhead in the following season.

Vernon was supposed to be the "villain" of the Channel 6 news crew, but he always got what he deserved in that April or the Turtles usually had to save him or he got treated like dirt by villains or such.
The guy is hilarious because he's in a children's cartoon, he's about as anti-feminist as you could possibly get and he only cares for himself. Yet he whimpers around like a coward the first time danger rears its head and April always takes charge when she's with him.
The social norms the original cartoon taught us was glorious.

Yeah, Burne might have been the boss, but Vernon was his lackey, the kid who hid behind the big bullies. Those are always the most annoying ones.
A lot of people seemed to think Vernon was gay because of the pink shirt and his voice.

Well when they have him doing things like this, maybe:

I definitely thought he was gay when I was a kid. I associated the color pink and the flamboyant voice to something stereotypically gay. Plus, his seemingly dislike for women(April and Irma) at the beginning of the show. But in later episodes he seemed to fancy women. Like in the Orient Express episode, per example.
Could someone please explain to me where the heck Irma's last name comes from? I have never heard it on the show.

English, fortunately. We didn't dub cartoons here at the time the FW series came out. And when it reran from the late 90s to the early-2000s naturally they saw no point in dubbing it.
And yes, he sounds kinda French now that you mention it.
Sadly, the 4kids series was dubbed here as is the Nick one. I saw the former under protest, but then re-watched it and finished it in English on youtube some years ago(had only seen the first couple of seasons on TV).

I voted Vernon because he always cracks me up.
I wanted to like Burne Thompson, but they kept going back in forth with his personality, especially in seasons 4 and 5.
As a kid I was fond of Irma, but as a grown up she annoys me! One episode actually begins with her crying at the top of her lungs over some loser she went out with! My God, it's one of the most annoying moments of the show, which ironically happens to be in one of the best episodes - "The Old Switcheroo".

Truly, the best thing to wait for in an episode that had Burne.
I gotta go for Mr Burne Thompson.
I like the team, and Burne just takes the top spot for me. I have to admit that I do use his "gogogogogo" line at the end of most of my lessons to evict the students from my classes.

In seasons 4, 5 and 6; the Turtles became too accepted by the city. They could just walk freely into any public building or into a place like Channel Six and not worry about getting a second look. There's even an episode where each of the Turtles gets a job ... although don't get me wrong, ti was a tremendous episode.
And yea, that moment was pretty cringeworthy back then and it still is after all these years.

That is pretty awesome. I wish my voice could match Burne's, but I can't avoid sounding like a death metal vocalist when I say it :trazz:
