They should have created completely new designs instead of slightly changing the originals. They look almost exactally like the old line of Mutatin'. They're still very cool though.

*blinks* Did Shredder get shrunk?
VaughnMichael
09-30-2003, 10:53 PM
well I know I will still get them all
but this does make a me a bit dissapointed in playmates
taking the easy way out once again...
I agree with tmntgal I realy wish they would have used new sculpts...
these are the exact same toys from the 90's
the turtles do look better
shredder looks terrable...I loved the old mutain' shredder *hugs him*
and wow ok I have to adit I like this new robotic foot soldier allot more then the old one...that new head is awsome hmm if that even is a foot soldier
thatd be nice if they put some robots into the show also...would freak the tmnt out if they cut one of them and they blew up lmao
over all not bad but not good either...
I so cant wait for the official proto pics this week
I'd just die if it was baxter or some one we've all been waiting for!!

i think that shredder is a fluke, because the other one looks normal and tall. i think the picture just got messed up. i dont think anything is wrong with the figures. man ill get everyone of these. this is so awsum

nothing is realy wrong with them
there just a dissapointment
because I allready own them
from the first time playmates brought them out but being a hardcore tmnt figure collector I wil have to own them so I'm not bitching to much ^_~
still say the foot soldier is the best but would still like to see how there gonna explain that one lol

And Shredder looks like a short, fat dwarf

Well I give them points for altering the shredder and Foot toys but they need to add something to the Turtles, atleast new accerories cause those look like the weapons that have come with the other Turtles toys, they could at least give us the Mutating weapons that went with them

What is this crap? Are they serious? Well, time for history to repeat it's self!?!?!
Not only are they using the same damn parts of the old figures but this is just a damn waist of money. They probably think all of the TMNT collectors are gonna buy this knowing they will buy anything. These wont be worth squat. I'm dissapointed actually. I'm having enough trouble in college with no job affording these figures and now I gotta dish out money for something that I already bought full price 10 years ago. Now, I know what your thinking....don't buy these....however, I am trying to get everything from Playmates that I can from TMNT this time.....unlike last.....bah...

YEAH, I was like "Waitaminute...did that say "Mutating TMNT figures!?". I never had the original Mutatin' Foot Soldier, so I'll totally buy 1 or 5 of this one (especially since it can probably stand up better then the new Foot Soldier figure).
shredder though?..heh...midget shredder...
  That's exactly what I thought when I saw him.
Mutatin' Shredder: "Fear me, for I have a rather large blade on a stick...AND I'm at crotch height! BWAHAHAHAH!"
They should have created completely new designs instead of slightly changing the originals. They look almost exactally like the old line of Mutatin'. They're still very cool though.
::nods:: Yeah, but they did alter the molds, so that's got to count for something right? I mean, in the case of the Foot Soldier, they kinda had to change it cause I don't think the foot soldiers are robots in the new show. Although the toy in the picture does appear to still have robotic designs on him, so maybe they are robots? :-?

Out of the old Mutatin' figures, I only own Rocksteady, Bebop, Splinter, Mikey & Don. I don't own the others either because I could never find them, or because they came out when I stopped buying TMNT toys (the last new, normal figure I ever got was Halfcourt, which was in the last quasi-normal wave of figures).
So will I be buying these new ones? Yes & No. I'll buy the Shredder & multiples of the Foot Soldier (I loves me huge amounts of troop figures :D), but probably only get Leo & Raph of the mutation ones.
The Foot Ninja is almost exactly the same as the old 1, besides, colour...and...posture...
And Shredder looks like a short, fat dwarf
::nods:: I looked at the old mutatin' Foot Soldier on the tmnt website & the new is basically the exact same thing, except this one doesn't have the turtle-shell guards on it's wrists ( I don't think).
Well I give them points for altering the shredder and Foot toys but they need to add something to the Turtles, atleast new accerories cause those look like the weapons that have come with the other Turtles toys, they could at least give us the Mutating weapons that went with them
Hee-hee, I remember those. :) Say, didn't Raph's sai's mutate into forks or something?
What is this crap? Are they serious? Well, time for history to repeat it's self!?!?!
I think it's already repeating itself, what with TMNT being back on TV & in the toy stores again.
Not only are they using the same damn parts of the old figures but this is just a damn waist of money. They probably think all of the TMNT collectors are gonna buy this knowing they will buy anything.
I'm a TMNT collector & I don't buy everything they make. I've yet to buy those Sports Gear turtles, & my latest TMNT figure purchase was on friday & it was Casey Jones.
These wont be worth squat. I'm dissapointed actually. I'm having enough trouble in college with no job affording these figures and now I gotta dish out money for something that I already bought full price 10 years ago.
Hey, no one is twisting your arm duder, you don't have to buy anything you don't want to- it is a free country after all. If you already own all of these mutating TMNT figures then don't waste your money. But people like myself, who for some reason or another, missed out on them in the original toyline, we'll be buying them.
Now, I know what your thinking....don't buy these....however, I am trying to get everything from Playmates that I can from TMNT this time.....unlike last.....bah...
-Errol
::nods:: Hey, that's understandable dude. I remember a bunch of figures I never got to get back in the old line & I'm still kicking myself for it. But, since these figures are kinda like resculpted-re-releases of the orignal mutatin' TMNT figures you can probably go without them as you already own them. Remember, you control your buying, not Playmates. They can't control your mind (at least I don't think they can...) so you buy whatever you like. If anything though, I'd buy the new mutatin' Foot Soldier as you can never have enough foot soldiers to beat up on, plus this one can change his head & that's pretty cool.
I really like the foot ninja/ foot scientist figure but that's about it.....
Oh, is that what the head is from? So, the scientists are the foot soldiers too?? Curse you playmates and your trickery!

Oh yeah, so that's where.
Seriously, you can tell they just put the new TMNT heads on the old figures. I don't see why mutating figures are needed, but I guess it's better than more sports TMNT.

It's awesome they're bringing back the mutating figures. I remember how much fun those thinks were, althought with all the new figures coming out I think I'll skip them. I'm not made of money you know!
Althought I'll definetely pick up the foot soldier/ foot scientist figure, IMO it looks really darn cool, expecially since I was dissapointed with the normal foot soldier.

I only have the mutating Leo from the old line of Turtles, and he didn't hold up as good as most of my toys, so this isn't THAT bad to me. I don't know what's up with the Shredder, because I don't remember the one from before being that odd looking.
I'm sure there's more accessories than what's shown there. If I remember right, I paid $9.99 for any of the mutating figures I have.

Oh, okay. Was that already shown last season, or is it one of the episodes from the 2nd half of Season 1? :-?
Raphs sais turned in to forks
Leos katanas turned in to knives
Mikeys kunchaku turned in to jump ropes
and Donnies bo's turned in to pogo-sticks.
 That's right! Heh, I had Don & Mikey, but Don's "Pogo-Bo-Stick" really didn't work to well.

::nods:: Oh yeah, having the whole collection would be awesome, but I guess getting to say that doesn't come without a price (litterally in this case as you have to buy the figures). Hopefully the mutatin' ones won't cost like 20 bucks or anything.
well, if i remember right, the old ones were around 10 bucks, so i'm guessing anywhere from ten to fifteen bucks.
i wonder what the packaging will be for these... if they'll use boxes or cards.
Hmmm...I dunno, maybe they'd still be 10 bucks or so? I mean, the original TMNT figures sold for $3.99 at Toys-R-Us & $5.99 at Kay-Bee Toys. Now, they sell for about $5.99-to-$6.99 depending on where you go (I still think it's cool to walk into KB toys & buy a brand new TMNT figure for the same price it cost for one about 10 years ago :D).
If they use boxes, would that up the price any? :-?
I still have a couple of the old ones packaged and the stickers still on them......mine were 7 bucks from walmart..ha..
they wont be that exspensive i bet.
7 bucks at Wal-Mart? ::thinks:: Okay..so if they were 7 bucks at Wal-Mart back then, they maybe they were 8 bucks at TRU, & maybe 10 at Kay-Bee? :-? So maybe they will be 10 bucks nowadays then. ::shrugs:: Guess we wait until they come out. I guess.

::nods:: Yeah, that's right. Alot of things that used to be sold in boxes back in the day are now being sold MOC. My guess is it's easier (& less expensive) to sell toys on blister cards then inside boxes. I remember seeing the re-issued mutatin' foot soldier too, it was for the TMNT' toyline's 10th Anniversary if I'm not mistaken. They re-released alot of the older figures for that thing, but none of the different mutant animal secondary characters. :(

I like how the new paint jobs hightlight the muscles and veins, makes 'em look really cool. I've broke down and decided I'm going to get all the mutatin' figs, My goal is to buy all the 5 inch figs in this series for as long as I can.
And I'm glad they're doing some of the old toys. For every really dopey costumed turtle (Like farming Don) there was something really cool (like the mutating figures)
Their are a few more of the old figs I'd like to see re done, like the "Night Ninja" line, with the armor that pops out when you open the shell. Those were so awesome.
Come on, Farmer Don and Farmer Mike were the coolest!!! I mean, the even came with TRACTORS!!!..how can you not like tractors...im just sad they didnt come out with a Framer Shredder or Farmer Foot Soldier...
