View Full Version : Kerma as a villain

In Escape from the Planet of the Turtleoids, that episode showed Kerma fighting after being pushed too far. I remember in the episode when he left, I always thought it was kind of disturbing when he said that no one would mess with the Turtleoids anymore and that any who does will wish they were never born. Even Donatello questions it and Leonardo, wondering if they did a good thing. Raph says it isn't so bad since they can defend themselves
But I wondered if it would be interesting to see Kerma as a villain. To see a guy who's been a total pacifist and all of a sudden snaps and starts being violent would be interesting. I could see him going back to his planet and teaching his race to fight, but instead of just defending themselves, they become more warlike and aggressive and cause conflict. Maybe they would become more obsessed with protecting their gold machine and become so paranoid they end up wiping out planets just to make sure no one would bother them again like before.
I think it'd be an interesting development to see Kerma as a fierce warlord and would fit perfectly in the Red Sky seasons. What do you think?

I like him and his Turtleoid Planet "as is" since it's such an indictment upon pacifist societies.

Nah, there was enough going on the red sky episodes that at that point it'd be like having Irma pushed too far and becoming the next Punisher or something.
It's jarring and weird and I'm glad it didn't happen.

No, I think he got a good send off in his last episode.

That's ok. I just felt that it would be more interesting to see Kerma as a villain. Because doesn't anyone find it strange that Leo and Don were at unease and wondered if the whole thing was really over? I kind of actually expected Kerma to return and cause trouble for other planets.
If you think about it, it makes sense. Kerma and his whole race was mostly pacifistic and then Kerma snaps when he's been pushed too far. After spending generations of being peaceful and being pushed around, wouldn't you think that at some point they would become violent and go overboard. To be fair Kerma's race wasn't entirely pacifist, as Herman the Horrible was revealed to be two Turtleoids that were quite aggressive and corrupt. Now that Kerma discovered his abilities and tired of being pushed around and the fact that villains would want their gold machine, I would think Kerma would go overboard, paranoid and become extremely aggressive and destroy entire planets just to make sure no one would bother them again, as he would be tired of being pushed around. It would be a villain that the TMNT unintentionally created in a way. He'd be a villain trying to justify his actions and make up excuses, saying he's destroying other races he considers evil (even if it costs innocent lives) saying that without them, the gold the Turtleoids make would never fall into the wrong hands. He'd be one of the few villains out there that honestly thinks he's doing the right thing.
But that's just me.

I don't understand. Why the picture of Ussop?

Well, I didn't find Kerma's aggressive talk disturbing. Leo and Don wondered if they had done the right thing in helping the Turtloids defend themselves, but I thought Escape from Planet of the Turtloids still ended on a happy note with Mikey saying that it's the end. I don't think Kerma would have worked in red sky anyway.

It would be my expression if Kerma would be a villain.
Me neither!
Assuming you're talking about Kurma the turtleoid.
I've seen Kerma written with an E, but mostly Kurma (in credits etc) with a U?

My thoughts exactly.
There are a few characters I can see given a major overhaul even switch sides in the makeover, but Kerma is not one of them. It would be cool to see him again in some form. Please though don't be like the Nicktoon and just call them Neutrinos when they are not in anything but name that.

I can see him going crazy after having at least three "Little problems" and finally learning to fight back. I can't see him becoming a total villain, but maybe a misguided bully who learns in the end that there's a time to fight and when not to.

Must be from Canada.
I don't know, but Kurma is the way the VA Jan Rabson spelled it, and I also found it on some review sites of that ep. So on my website I wrote Kurma. Guess I should change it :D
(And no :P I'm not from Canada)
