Today, May 5th, is the 32nd anniversary of the debut issue of TMNT!

Happy Anniversary! :tgrin::tcool:

Sorry if this is "pointless" thread, but I thought it was worth noting the significance of the date!

(One of multiple sources for the date claim: http://nhpr.org/post/dover-new-hampshire-birthplace-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles)

Is it weird TMNT is only a little older than I am?

No, what's weird is that new TMNT material is still being produced after 32 years. Out of all the things have lasted at least 30 years, TMNT is one of the weirdest concepts among them.

It was the most successful new franchise of the 80's, and the only comparable concepts in popularity were probably Power Rangers, Pokemon, and Harry Potter afterward.

Happy [public] birthday, Turtles :) (Since technically they turned 32 in concept in Nov.)

Getting up there a bit, guys. Always makes me feel a little better about my own age that they are in their 30s as well now. :twink: I so wish a future series would catch them up to their real world age. lol

Jeez, hard to believe it's been that long. But the people of Dover are VERY proud of this fact. :)

You mean "new childrens franchise", and even then I think that's arguable...both Transformers and MOTU had rather a significant success as new franchises in the 80s too...

Suppose it depends on how you measure success (money made, longevity, capturing the cultural zeitgeist, merchandise etc) - the Ghostbusters sure did rather well too!
