What do you think about the first ever turtle-spoken line in Turtle Tracks not only being given to Donatello, but also the fact that it's "Chill out, Homeboy"?
For me I crack up everytime I hear it, it seems just weird hearing Donny say that...I could more imagine Mikey or Raph saying it. I guess because of Donny's whole genius thing, I dunno it's just odd to me.
Another question, if you had been able to pick what turtle said the first line, who would you have chosen and what would you have had them say? I always thought Leonardo should've gotten the first line, because of him being leader and all...what he'd say though I don't know.
Debate! :)

That's one of my favourite lines from the original 'toon. Always gets me right in the funny bone.

Yea that was funny, the only other good line to start it off is the way the new show did it...with leo saying my name is leonardo....and so on. I think that was just great

Raph was awful chatty in the original cartoon. No doubt he could have opened the show with a witty one-liner without fail.
Though, like Jeff, I really dug how they opened the new show, pulling word for word out of the first Mirage issue.

I think it would be better if they opened the show the way they did the movie. Basically turtles kick the crap out of everyone first (in silence), then April faints, and in their lair when she wakes up, they start talking. Raphael would be a suitable opener for the dialogue, considering his jokes would properly foreshadow the humourous quality of the series to come. That whole line by him "She talks, she walks!" would be a good way to get things going.

To be perfectly honest, he never really lost his sense of humour and was still funny.... but his jokes did become more derivatized and predictable with time, and in doing so, lost some of their quality.

I always loved Raph's dry wit in the original cartoon. I swear that had to be where they got the idea for Chandler on Friends!
Just wondering, what was the LAST line the Turtles said in the old toon? :-?

I remember that line! It's a great one.
I'm rather partial to these though "How do you work this high-tech ghetto blaster?" (Rapahel in the Shredder is Splintered) and of course my favorite old skool TMNT toon line was... "We turtles don't know the meaning of the word defeat" "That's right, we never bothered to look it up in the dictionary!" (Leo and Mike in Turtle Tracks I believe).
Of course the best line in TMNT history has to be Mike's "Wise men say..." line in the first TMNT movie. That was and forever will be PRICELESS!

"We can handle anything alright . . ."
". . . except Donatello's cooking."
Michaelangelo and Raphael, from "Divide and Conquer"
This line is, in my opinion, a very lackluster way for the old toon to go out. But the writers may not have known, at the time, that this episode was the last in the series.

Actually, they probably did, considering that most shows know well ahead of time if they're gonna be continued or not. That way fitting season finales can be made. And you're right, that is a lackluster line, but in a way, it is fitting to be said last. I just don't see TMNT ending with a dramatic Shakespearian dialogue.

I've heard they didn't. The show was doing good in ratings, but CBS wanted more "educational programming".

CBS owned the original series?

Why did you cancel the original TMNT television series?
The decision to take the Turtles off the air was not made by us (why would we wanna do that? :)
The networks have complete control over the programs that they show and we have absolutely no influence over their decisions (unfortunately :)
That being said, CBS canceled the original TMNT cartoon due to FCC regulations stipulating that Saturday morning programming must contain educational material (apparently CBS felt that the Turtles weren't educational... alas).

Something doesn't seem right about this... Say CBS did own them and due to these new "regulations" it had to take them off. Well, if you look at them (and other tv stations) they have much more mindless saturday morning line up these days - it ain't exactly the Discovery channel. So either those regulations weren't enforced or they're just loopholing their way out of it. Still doesn't really explain why TMNT had to go off. Unless the ratings weren't high enough for them and they used FCC as an excuse.

I think red sky aired on only on CBS. CBS didn't order more episodes, so more wasn't done. Thats just the official reason, maybe they just didn't want TMNT anymore.
