If there was a Definitive end to TMNT altogether. One last story and then it's completely done. How would you want it to end?

I think he just means in general. Like if the franchise were to be killed off by the cosmos & we were to get that one final story, be it in comic/film/animated form.

The turtles combat something extremely powerful near the end of their lives. Have the ending be bittersweet.

Considering the cycle of TMNT usually having something bittersweet, I'd personally like to see them combat one finale threat together. Something that can powerfully threaten their world. (Dragonlord, Lord Dregg, Tengu Shredder, Krang if done seriously, or Savanti Romero) However, there's a twist: said villain actually succeeds in destroying that incarnation and the Turtles barely escape it. They could then be whisked away by Renet or another ally to fully reverse it and make sure the world is set in stone.
Now, I'd need to read Odyssey myself so I don't know if this idea would be similar: a friend and I have thought of a Days of Future Past scenario for the Turtles. Depending on how time travel was done and multiverse theories, the Turtles of said incarnation would meet Mirage Mikey (was he the first Turtle ever made? Either way, whichever Turtle Laird and Eastman made first) and have to reverse the chaos alongside allies from the various worlds. For example, the other allies could consist of:
FW Raph
Movie trilogy Casey or Leo
Venus from Next Mutation (very strong if here)
2k3 Don
Any incarnation you so choose (except PD, it gets blown up. :trazz:), but the Turtles of the current incarnation die in the final battle. The world is restored either way, but the heroes we've come to know and love will have died.
...The idea's probably loony, but something to utilize the franchise to it's full potential. A massive love letter from every incarnation over the years, but focused on the main team from the particular series.

Definitive: (of a conclusion or agreement) done or reached decisively and with authority.
End: come or bring to a final point; finish.
All of it. Forever. Pretty cut and dry. Get some knowledge bruh.

Not Odyssey. I hate Odyssey.
I love Andrew's other work, but I hate the family breaking up in Odyssey. Don't like it at all. Not the definitive end I would want to see.
I'd prefer the ending of City at War (Mirage Volume 1), "Never the end!" of Image Volume 3, or Splinter's death and funeral from Mirage Volume 4. Those feel like emotional real true-to-life endings that DON'T frak over my four favorite reptiles.
EDITED TO ADD: By which I mean, I'd prefer those to either have been the definitive ends of the TMNT franchise, or for whatever new definitive end came along to follow along those lines. Emotional but not slit-your-wrists depressing.

I understand it, but I don't like it. I do prefer a little more escapism than Mikey turning into a vengeful wargod. :tlol:
From my POV, Odyssey was not bittersweet. Out of balance, not enough sweet to offset the sweet.
I'm glad most people liked it though... and I do appreciate all the crap, time, and money Andrew went through to make it happen.

As for an end to it all? I never want it to end, even after I'm over it and/or dead.

My thinking is that it would just sort of fade into obscurity. In the same way as The Flintstones or most other Hanna Barbara cartoons. There really wouldn't be a big ending, just a quiet ending where there are only very few left who care. "The universe won't die with a bang, but with a whimper", as they say.

It's one of those things I'd never want to see to be honest.

Its hard to believe what the TMNT franchise might be like 10-20 years from now. We could have something like up to 6 TMNT cartoons, another new comic continuity after IDW's ends, etc.
Compared to virtually any other comic or superhero franchise, TMNT is still practically in its infancy at only a little over 30 years old.
Wildcat

I would never want it to end so I dont know but I came up with a couple ideas.
A Turtles Forever style crossover happens but one turtle from each universe gets stuck in another leaving them to live in THAT universe with THOSE turtles for good or at least for a whole season.
Each universe would have all 4 turtles but each would be from one of the universes. So we now have a team like...Mirage Leo, Nick Mike, OT Raph and 4kids Don.
Another idea is have the turtles have kids of their own who they train to carry on when they get old. The "kids" could be pets they each raise and then purposely mutate. Not necessarily more turtles...just animals they like or think would make a strong team.
Actually this could be an end. Have the new team of animals be a spinoff franchise. The turtles just retire from fighting and take a Splinter role.

Since Playmates is so crappy now I think I know what they would do. LEGO released a ****** wave called Bionicle Stars when it was ending (before its reboot) and they were about Playmates level of bad. I decided to make this picture cause its probably what Playmates would do as their final wave of TMNT toys.
Also its just a joke, so try not to freak out and call me a troll and stuff.

I would have hoped a final fight in the 1987 tune. The Lord Dregg ending was good but I thought it could have ended in a different way
In the Red Sky Seasons, Krang gets his android body back and the Technodrome repaired. Rock Soldiers and Foot Soldiers as well as members of the Rogues like Chrome Dome and Tempestra show up.
The Turtles know they are outmatched and enlist the help of Casey Jones, Carter, Splinter, Usagi, Mondo Gecko, Krakus, Landor and Merrick the Punk Frogs and so forth.
The technodrome is loose. A final battle between the Turtles, and Shredder start but ultimately ends with Splinter and Shredder
The Technodrome explodes and it seems to be over but Krang survives and grows huge like he did last time and a final confrontation takes place where Krang is finally defeated.

Turtles Forever really did seem like not only a very good way for the 4Kids series to end, but a great way for the franchise to have come to an end. Not that I would've wanted the franchise to die after the 4Kids series, but TF would've at least gave it a nice send off.

Funny how a lot of people feel about Turtles Forever being a good send-off to the pre-Viacom era. At the same time I'm glad that wasn't the end of the franchise, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten the IDW comics or the current show and we certainly wouldn't have the opportunity of seeing the actual original cast of the 1987 cartoon reprise their roles in a new crossover event.

I'm kind of OK with those not existing if it means that the Platinum Dunes movies would never come to be. Those... things... are going to make the IP on a big screen level radioactive for many years to come.

The IDW and Nick era of TMNT have salvaged the franchise and represent the 2010's era of TMNT. IDW started in 2011 and Nick in 2012....so they are the official series of this 2010's decade generation.
The 80's/90's were Mirage, Fred Wolf, Archie and original movie trilogy gen.
The 2000's were Mirage's revival, 2k3, and the 4th movie
The 2010's are now IDW, Nick and the Bay movies.
The 2020's will probably bring us another new reboot. I think we can be used to this every 10 years now

If there had to be an end I think I could go for either of these two things :
1. The Turtles Die Fighting
I don't know who they'd be fighting or why, but I'd rather them go down swinging and fighting for/with each other then see them die off one at a time.
2. Living Peacefully In a New Society or World
Maybe they live long enough to see society change and become open to different people and species - like when aliens live on Earth, so they can live amongst society - that type of deal. If there's peace throughout the world and the Turtles run out of enemies, then maybe they can live happily ever after.
Some of the ideas discussed in the thread are way cooler than these, but I like simplicity. Also, seeing the Turtles die off one at a time would be heartbreaking.

Still might be my favourite TV ending. I get why some people took it as a "cliffhanger", but it was thematically on point for that show. The journey was always more important than the destination, and it was made clear many times over that there's no "happy ending" and the battle never ends. Angel signing away his Shanshu reward and taking a heroic last stand was the perfect sendoff for that character, IMO.
2gXaMnkmGq0
And I also loved the contrast between endings for Buffy and Angel. Buffy's last shot, standing with her family and friends in the sun, wide open road beyond them, and Angel's has him standing with his allies, backs against the wall in the rain, besieged by enemies and fighting on.
Um, back on topic...
My favourite "end" is still probably "City at War". Which obviously wasn't the end, but I think it was the best possible sendoff for the Mirage run. They finally settled the cycle of vengeance they'd been caught in their entire lives, but with plenty of physical and emotional costs. They had all been on their own journeys that had deeply changed them, they get a "happy" reunion, there's some degree of emotional closure, and then they go their separate ways once more. It's a pretty quiet ending, but the scars of their experiences were still very much present and the future wasn't certain. A good place to leave the Mirage characters, IMO.
As for the property as a whole? Turtles Forever is still kind of perfect. That last moment is a beautiful capper to the Mirage era. Honestly, I can't think of anything better than that.

I think Turtles Forever was a pretty perfect send off for the Mirage era. I wish Vol. 4 had been finished but TF was a good end.
For the new Nick/Viacom era I have no idea. Another big multiversal crossover could be good but I think I might prefer something more low key, more in fitting with "life at best is bittersweet" but I'm not sure if that would be appropriate for the current versions of the characters.

I dug Turtles Forever for what it was, but it's pretty far from any kind of "send off" for the "Mirage era." I don't see how a brief revisitation of the first issue alone could be anything remotely close to an endcap of all 4 volumes and all other stories.
