View Full Version : Should there be a Sinister Six esque group?

(I'm well aware I've made a few threads recently; I'll be sure to slow down, just had a lot of ideas on my mind. :))

Off the drome and in general, I've wondered something about the villains in TMNT. So, the Archie series took several toyline and Fred Wolf characters and formed the Mighty Mutanimals, who have now become reoccurring with their appearances in IDW and Nick. Well, would it be a good idea to take several villains and form a Sinister Six type group, or a villains group to destroy the Turtles in general? Quick rundown of Sinister Six in case you don't know: six villains from Spider-Man's rogue gallery join up to kill him.

Now, with all the mutants in TMNT and a few groups done over the years such as H.A.V.O.C., would a Sinister Six esque group be worth it, especially to rival the Mutanimals? If so, which six mutants/antagonists would you want to form the group of? I'd personally say the following for me:

Silver (Next Mutation)- An antagonist with lots of potential; possesses a calculative mind similar to that of Doctor Octopus as the leader.

Scratch (toyline)- It sucks the toyline has had several interesting characters often not fully adapted except as filler or game characters. Scratch, one of the rarest TMNT figures, would fit a trickster type style. Mostly like Mysterio, but not using illusions.

Sally Pride (IDW)- I don't know the IDW series well enough, but think Sandman where he eventually reformed. Sally would be second in command but struggle with morals and such, essentially any complex TMNT character works here.

Verminator X (Archie)- With all the love Tiger Claw has gotten in Nick and Armaggon's cult following, why no love for the cat cyborg? He's got a badass design and can provide one of the toughest challenges of the Turtles. Similar to Kraven (my favorite Spider-Man to be honest), the cybernetics could make him capable of enhanced hunting in addition to training. As a bonus, maybe he could start out a hero as Jagwar but not an unwilling slave?

Koya (IDW)- Terror from the sky like Vulture, nuff said. ;) In all seriousness, Koya I selected due to more female representation in addition to her tenacity from what I've seen. A persistent and tricky enemy to fully contend with plus some nice battles in the sky.

A new mutant or one of the joke villains- Electro is kind of pathetic, so why not any joke TMNT character you can think of. :P

What do you guys think?

I love the idea. It feels like a natural, the way Old Hob felt like a natural. OF COURSE there should be a TMNT version of Magneto!

Two different approaches:

1. An enemy mutant gang that rivals the TMNT and Mutanimals (maybe like HAVOC from the Fred Wolf series?)

For this, I'm thinking more in terms of what type of mutant...

A poison type, whether scorpion or snake
A flying type, I'll say Wingnut (bat)
An electric type, probably an eel or something
A berserker, let's say a bear (or maybe Groundchuck, if we want a preexisting mutant)
A water type, Bludgeon for example
And a leader... Old Hob for lack of a better example. I prefer Hob as antihero to full-blown antagonist.

2. Or a group of disparate TMNT enemies banding together with a common purpose. For that, I'd see (in IDW):

Leatherhead, Bebop and Rocksteady, Hun, Baxter Stockman.

Sounds like a good idea. This was done before, though, in the 1987 cartoon episode Night of the Rogues, in which Shredder assembled a group of villains to destroy the Turtles. Too bad that only happened in one episode.

I'm in! My picks wouldn't necessarily mirror the SS in any way- just a group with clear antagonistic feelings toward the TMNT and/or Mutanimals.

1: Tiger Claw- I can see him as a leader figure, plus his training and abilities make him a natural for it.
2: Koya- She is one of the few female mutant baddies, and the fact that she can fly makes her a good recon/ambush attacker.
3: Baxter: Scientist/tech support/weaponry; 'Nuff said.
4: Armaggon- I actually kind of liked Nick's version of him, and a cyborg shark just sounds SOOO nasty!
5: Tempestra- Not a mutant, but her powers make her a dangerous opponent, and I think any team needs a bit of balance between the genders. She's also got it in for the turtles BAD.
6: Groundchuck- GM's idea for using him is pretty sound, actually. There should be a "tank", and he's it. He's also got some high-tech weaponry, so there's that. Plus he's got a really bad temper! Makes for some interesting situations.

I'm gonna update my post to say, IDW Baxter Stockman decides to come up with his own mutant enforcers:

Dogpound (berserker canine mutant)
Scale Tail (female cobra mutant, poisonous)
Wingnut/Screwloose (bat/batfly mutants)
Angleron (mutant angler fish from "Bebop & Rocksteady Destroy Everything")
Scumbug (cockroach mutant)
[name pending] (mutant electric eel)

I've long wanted a bug-only group. There are just enough to make it work.
