1790 or 1890?

Watching "Coroporate Raiders from Dimension X", Octavius Ogilvy talks about the Great Octopus exhibition of 1890. What I can't figure out is if the company was founded in 1790, with the 100th anniversary held 1890, or 1890, with the anniversary to be held in 1990.

I haven't seen Corporate Raiders from Dimension X in a while though. It makes sense to have the company founded in 1890 since the episode aired around 1990.
