The Technodrome Turns 18!

Today is not only Halloween, it is also The Technodrome's eighteenth anniversary! We really appreciate all of our contributors and visitors over the years.

This month, to help ensure that The Technodrome is around for many more years to come, the main site and other related sites have all been moved to a new web host (this does not include the forums, which are already on a separate hosting plan that has been working well for them). Everything should be up and running, but please let me know if you encounter any issues.

I also apologize for not having much time lately to devote to the forums. In the coming months, I will be working on things that need attention there, such as validating new members.

So the drome is now legal. Just think of all the people who were kids or not even born yet when this forum came to existence.

I also love how this place still looks like it's from 2001, like it hasn't changed at all in 15 years of modern internet technology. I feel like I'm "back in time" when I come here...like it's the early 2000's all over again.

All things considered, it does translate pretty well onto modern screens and not look dated, like it would be on the Big Square Clunkers from the time of its birth, where others (https://www.warnerbros.com/archive/spacejam/movie/jam.htm) don't.

It's like Sigourney Weaver in how well it ages :P

Fun Fact: The drome came out in 1999 when the internet was still practically in its infancy, no social media existed, youtube did not even exist, and sites like geocities/tripod sites and fanrings were all the rage.

It's like the "prehistoric age" of the internet. To think even an old person like me was only around 14 when this site came out says a lot in itself.

It's kind of funny when you realize there are probably less than 50 active members here, and the literally hundreds of people here from 2000 till now either moved on or left.

The forums were definitely more active when the 4kids TMNT cartoon was airing in the early 2000's. But I guess that's also because social media didn't really exist back then, people still came to traditional forums.

This place is a survivor of the early days of the internet. Ok, the early days were like 1995-1999 technically but the internet from the year 2000 was very different from current decade's internet still. I consider the pre-wikipedia, youtube and social network days as the early internet.

Discord is mainly a website mainly used by gamers to connect on one platform where they can text or voice chat either with each other or as a part of a community, but its not just limited to gaming.

That's odd, have you used the one at the beginning of the tread (discord thread)? Or try SDPs signature.

Anyway, re the forum, can't quite get the same layout for discussion in other places (though some may not agree) I'm happy here as long it runs.

Here in the US at 18, you still a minor in certain things like drinking. You can vote and if you go to war at 18, then you can drink. Otherwise you still a teen, same for 19-year olds, But a 20 year old considered a minor for the things mentioned above, it's ridiculous. The real adulthood should start at 20 in the USA.
