I can't help but feel that those first few panels are a bit meta regarding Santolouco pouring his heart and soul into this mini for so long.

Finally? More like, about f***ing time :lol::lol:

At this point, I just hope there is some...just some payoff at the end of this miniseries, some payoff that'll affect the ongoing. Even if it's something like the epilogue to Bebop and Rocksteady Hit the Road, I'll be happy.:D

"Siblings' trap"? That's interesting, since the Dragon is actually the father of the Pantheon, that would imply there was a previous Pantheon. Kind of like the Titans and Olympians.

Oh, now the Dragon Lord has siblings involved. Let's keep going on this train wreck of a family. (Is there some kind of ethereal therapist???)

It's starting to look like issue #71 only scratched the surface of the family.

HI Hindu mythology???? Surprised to see you here?

And Yoshi is MOST ASSUREDLY DEAD. So...yeah, no surprises once 99/100 drop.

The art sure does explain what took so long and it was worth it.

So let me get this straight:

Brahma, a god worshipped by people in real life, is the father/creator of the Dreamer and Dragon.
These two are somewhat loose interpretations of Vishnu and Shiva, the preservation and destruction deities respectively.
The Dragon created the Pantheon to ease his "indecisiveness" regarding the world.
Human beings are extentions of the Dreamer and the darkness of humanity is the result of the Dragon influencing her.
And the Shredder...

... Is really just the Dragon reduced down to a reincarnating mortal.

That's a lot of interesting stuff but how...
... Is Shredder kept from reincarnating as an flatworm or something insignifigant?

I don't get the last page/panel. Did Saki give up on Kitsune's love and plans for him, or on his humanity?

Eehh, let's wait and see. More than likely yes, I agree that Splinter may very well may die before City at War is complete, but remember....the Kid Demon told Saki way back in the Shredder Villain Micro that time doesn't pass in a straight line in the afterlife, so surprises may be in store. After all, I think it's a safe bet to say that most of us (myself included) thought that Bebop, Rocksteady, and Anchovy were gonna have appeared by this point in the main title judging by the epilogue of B&R Hit the Road.... but it hasn't happened yet.

If Karai didn't put them to work during the assault on Splinter's Foot, I don't think they'll even show up for the rest of City at War. :(

It's a twist regarding Kitsune's plans for Shredder. We used to assume Shredder was to get possessed by the Dragon, but now...
... we know he is the Dragon and always has been, in the sense that he is and always has been Takeshi Tatsuo.

This issue largely deals with concepts found in the Hindu religion. Even though they only go by "Dreamer" and "Dragon", it's pretty clear that they're based on the Hindu deities Vishnu and Shiva respectively, the gods of preservation and destruction. This is made clear when Dreamer states she and the Dragon are reflections of Brahma, who is both a god and the concept of a cosmic singularity. The basic idea is that everything that exist is really one thing that takes multiple forms.
Oroku Saki, Takeshi Tatsuo and the Dragon may appear to be different individuals but they are all one soul. The distinction is an illusion created by the different life experiences, a new sense of self takes root with new incarnations. The Dragon even seems to say this is indeed the case.

In short, what will make the Dragon break free is Shredder letting go of his sense of self and accepting that he is the Dragon.

Sooo... Saki's whole newfound sense of peace and brotherhood with Yoshi was all for nothing?

Since Splinter appears to be dead here I don’t know why this was spoiled ahead of issue 100’s conclusion. Granted maybe this takes place in the far future or something but it’s definitely not just an illusion. I guess it doesn’t really matter but maybe they should have delayed this issue by a few more months. Even if Splinter doesn’t die by issue 100, it’s now just a question of when rather than if.

This whole story arc has gotten a little more trippy than I'd prefer. I like my TMNT a little more straightforward.

Still cool, though.

Since time in the afterlife isn't linear, his death could take place far into the future or maybe even mean his first death in Feudal Japan. After all, in the Shredder micro Saki was fighting himself from (supposedly) his previous death. Or it could be his future death, given he was wearing the same mask as in Turtles in Time #4... Yeah, definitely trippy. The more you think about it, the less sense it makes.

Oh, so he hasn't made a choice yet? I took that last panel of Shredder standing before the Dragon as him having made up his mind, but then again...

As time does pass differently in Hell, Splinter we see here is the one murdured by Saki in ancient Japan. Before his ressurection as a mutant rat. So in 100 he will not die. Interesting when and as whom Tang Shen will be resurected? Can she be Null?

No I’m pretty sure he made the choice to finally let go of his ego in an attempt to evade the influence of the Dragon, but unbeknownst to him the Dragon was meddling around with Takeshi Tatsuo’s avatar, which will throw a wrench in the plan

I’m pretty sure the Yoshi we’re seeing is in fact Splinter, after his passing in the present day. I guess we’ll see soon

Pretty sure it's Splinter/Yoshi who has passed and spoke with Saki OK with his death and the cycle of reincarnation. Saki always wanting control is probably finally gaining some for once and the Dragon Spirit may take Splinter's body in the mortal realm. Obviously he'll still probably be a antagonist in some shape or form to the Turtles (Or not which would be a dang fine twist) All in all I m much enjoying this and this has become a very realized version of Shredder beyond him just being evil.

What a great arc...so much going on and so many interpretations. Shen has been reincarnated? When will she and splinter be reunited? Going to be a fun ride

Also the female being featured... is that the dragons sister? I get confused with this... if so that’s the patheon’s aunt??

But that didn't happen. They didn't reincarnate; they remain in the land of the dead. Now, Splinter returned to the Earth because he can't accept the tragic fate that his sons will face in the future.
