I don't know if this has ever been discussed before, but does anyone know the significance of April being a reporter for Channel 6 in the original cartoon, but she's a reporter for Channel 3 in the movies??? I was just watched the first movie again (for the billioneth time), and I noticed that the channel is different from the cartoon. I'm pretty sure she never ever became a reporter in the Mirage comics, so they created the reporter thing for the original cartoon. Why then did they change the number of the channel for the movie? I guess it's not especially important, but I was curious and have seen stranger questions on this forum.

I've just rented the original movie and the Next Mutation from my local video store (That's what I like about Australia--- we got the oldest video rental shops). They had all three movies, but I just rented the first one, I hate seeing sequels without first watching the first one. As I'm no fan of the original series April working for Channel 3 didn't bother me much, but what did bother me was how they prsented Raphael. The movie revoles around him mostly, Splinter says he's unique from his brothers, even in the theme song they say he's the leader. Am I the only one disturbed by the fact that Raphael is presented as Leonardo?

The way Raphael is presented is flawless. Leonardo is still very much the "unofficial leader," in fact, they have nothing in common.

Splinter says Raphael is unique because he wants to face his Anger alone.

LOL Raph's not presented as Leo. As far as I know the only reason why one could possibly thing that was because in the movie, it's Raph who gets beaten up instead of Leo. Otherwise Raph is nothing like him. He's not presented as leader, just someone who goes his own way. Just because Raph had the biggest part in the movie I don't think that means they were trying to pass him off as leader of the TMNT. And he and Raph have such different personalities in the movie that I don't see how Raph was being "passed off" as Leo.

Well Raph and Leo are on oppisite sides.Leo looks up to Splinter alot. And follows him.Raph of course is the tough one.Trying to go on his own.So they're different in ways.

well to answer the original Q april was Baxters assistantt in the original Mirage comics series like she is/was on the new toon. the whole reporter thing was made for the old toon which then followed onto the archir comics and movies. would of been to much to have april be baxters assistant in the first film but it would of been kewl. and prob like wise for the cartoon. baxter was originaly black and since it being the 80's and racial stuff like that controvercial they exed out april working for him and made him into the geeky white boy goon/fly he is. now as y they changed the channel #'s i dont know.

The song T U R T L E POWER is the only place where Raphael is listed as the "leader". obviously, the rapper knew not his TMNT Trivia :)

Naughty rapper!

Purhaps they just changed the channels to distance the movie from the TV show.

I'll do it ONE LAST TIME! (the words that go with each other will be bold)

"Splinter's the teacher and they are the students
(Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Donatello...
make up the team with one other fella, Raphael)
He's the leader of the group
Transformed from the norm by the nuclear goop..."

The problem today is that people don't know where punctuation fits in actual speech, only in writing.
