The show is fantastic, I wouldn’t mind it going 5-6 seasons.
I was super skeptical of the voice cast, art direction and then show won me over being pure joy to watch.

I would like to say "cancelled/replaced", but I haven't liked much of anything Nick has done with the brand at all, and they've been very open about their "fling sh*t at the wall" approach to generating new TMNT content. So it's about 80/20 that I'd dislike whatever the next show is, too. If anything, they'll probably skew even wackier and aim at an even younger audience.
So, Don't Care. Rise could've run for 5 years, I wouldn't have seen it, and I highly doubt I'll watch past the first episode of the next show either. All I care about TMNT for anymore is some of the toys. It's a "dead brand" to me since the Viacom sale, otherwise. It would take a lot to ever make me care again.

Hasn't the series already been cancelled?
Probably. There are several signs that it has been cancelled such as being moved to a sub-network, not having aired new episodes in months without news of when it's coming back, international release being halted, etc. I think Nickelodeon has some policy of not announcing a cancellelation, which is presumably why we haven't heard anything about it ending officially.

Haha very funny. I definitely haven’t seen this take before. I’m thankful that you had the bravery to create an entire thread to share this highly controversial and original opinion.
I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to live a life of such pain and suffering that you have to waste time, effort, and space to voice the already annoying and popular opinion in the very sub-forum dedicated to the show you’re hating on.

I personally think 3 is a good enough for the show, the 11-minute segments give us some great world building so everything after that is a bit much imo.

Don't worry in about 3-5 years this show will get a Batman The Brave and The Bold treatment where its hated during its initial run but after its ended will gain a cult following(not from this forum of course.)

Pretty sure the show is ending after the second season, so there's no real point to discuss this anymore. I'm kinda surprised though it didn't even catch on with kids. It's understandable older fans didn't like it, but I did kinda think it would find a kid audience. Perhaps the problem is it started too soon after the 2012 series ended and those kids would have already outgrown it (they would be teenagers by 2018 ), and a new younger generation wasn't ready for it yet.
Nick really should have waited a few more years after the 2012 series ended before doing another reboot. There wasn't much of a "generation gap" in kids yet and that's probably also what screwed the show over.

The little bit of completionist in me that at least still would like to know what their ultimate end plan for this was in terms of the so-called arc, and the part that's willing to be fair to those that like it at least supports letting this thing finish it's second season. (But hurry up already.)
After that, let the cartoon side rest for a bit for a couple/few years before anything new (and preferably more along the lines of 2003) is announced. But definitely fill in that time with a decent film, and leaked/announced info in the production so there's something to talk about around here and try to look forward to. (Or wait around in fear and cynicism if that's your game.)

Rise is now on Canada Netflix. I'm surprisingly enjoying the show. It's a fresh take with new villains. I normally have an issue with having too many mutants in the show like the 2012 show but I find the villains in Rise to be lots of fun.
It's a silly show but I don't mind it. I don't expect Nick to create another excellent show with a serious tone like the 2003 show.

I find people will always whine and worry the shows representing their favorite characters isn't "cool enough". But ultimately that's what grown ups are thinking. Do kids like the show? I don't know. It's hard to tell what kids like these days.
But from what I can tell Brave and Bold was an amazing show using Batman to introduce lots of classic DC characters heroes, and villains to the newer audience and kids. Sure it's not Batman the animate series but it's so dated I and it doesn't hold up. People just failed to see that. (Didn't help when they went backwards on The New Adventures). I think now people are starting to see the value when they get a chance to enjoy Batman the Brave and Bold as a whole.
I think same with Rise. It's not going to make much sense at first but as individual episodes, it's a fun show with action and human.

Holy sh*t, I went to go wrestle and missed a Goku sighting? Damn it!
I keep saying, man, no new members are necessary. 80% of them are goddamn Super Goku anyway.
I can't even imagine having no life to the point where you continually try to sneak back in the back door of a place you've already been sh*tcanned from a hundred times. Especially a place like THIS. This ain't like Buck Strickland trying to get back into that strip club where they serve the little cocktail meatballs or something. This guy obsessively tries to weasel his way back into a place so he can talk about cartoons. That is sheer f*cking lunacy.

Rise isn't for me, but I'm glad it has an audience that enjoys it.
The thing I mostly loathe is how Nickelodeon went ALL IN on Rise and expressing any dislike of the series kind of got you shamed because you didn't give it a chance or you're not open to change, etc., etc.
I wish Nickelodeon could put out a show without having that version of the property take over ALL of the licensing. I realize that the retro stuff is available here and there, but I feel bad for kids who wanted to be a Ninja Turtle for Halloween, only to have mom go shopping and all that's available is the Rise style. This is the same mistake that was made for the Bay movies (and Fast Forward, going back even farther). Let kids just be standard Ninja Turtles for Halloween. It's ok.
I also think it was a mistake to use the Netflix movie opportunity for a Rise project. Now the show is pretty obviously cancelled and no one is going to give a flying flip about the movie whenever that comes out. And so the Rise movie will tank and we won't get another opportunity for what could be a unique TMNT animated adventure on Netflix.
Alas...
The thing I mostly loathe is how Nickelodeon went ALL IN on Rise and expressing any dislike of the series kind of got you shamed because you didn't give it a chance or you're not open to change, etc., etc
It's like that for everything nowadays. It seems to be a cultural way for a generation. It's all the same - labeling that someone is "afraid of change" is as much a manipulation as the "ist-a-phobe" labels. But what's worse than the label is that the idiot doing the labeling is actually also calling "you" dumb because they expect you to succumb to their manipulation.
I think all of this is part and parcel as to why the backlash on things like Rise is so strong from the people who don't like it. It's like... if you are going to label me for not liking your crap pop culture product, then I'm really going to hammer home why it sucks so badly. This as opposed to simply not watching it and letting it die on the vine on it's own.

there is no one talented enough left in hollywood (or left with actual free reign to create and risk) to get us anything anywhere NEAR what 2003 turtles was.
The only thing I've really flat out enjoyed in nick tmnt era has been tmnt idw and batman vrs tmnt movie.
2k12 was too hit and miss for me. and I could barely get past the first episode of rise and have not looked back.
As far as I am concerned, TMNT as we knew it died when peter laird sold things off. just like with star wars. they would have to flush the offices of this new age talent and start fresh with something amazing to get me to care again.

It is the worst compared to all previous shows especialy what they did to me(making me just a monster and not fighting the turtles until season 2). But what Tom said about it killing TMNT is not true because nothing can kill TMNT at this time when it has become so popular after 36 years.

I mostly agree. Although I think TMNT was pretty dead in the few years before Nick bought it. 2007-2009 were some of the worst years for TMNT toys and cartoons, IMO
I remember the ****** 2007 movie toys, horrible back to the sewer cartoon, and a general lack of care for the franchise

I'm for "none of the above". I'd like to see the show come to a real conclusion -- even though the overall storyline is pretty much non-existent. The show has had its highs and lows, but still remained entertaining, at least. I want to see how it plays out to the end.

The show is interesting to say the least.
I wouldn't say it is Teen Titan's Go bad, but it is the TMNT equivalent of Teen Titan's Go. I get the impression the writing staff is trying to go somewhere with this series, they just have to get through a lot crap just to get there.
It's certainly something to fill in the space for the next incarnation.

I have a feeling that, like most projects, the "Rise" movie was never officially on the books. Many times production companies will tease something like this and present it as if it's definitely happening, when in fact they're simply checking the temperature to see if it would be a good idea to do such a thing. If reaction is favorable, they proceed. If reaction is negative, they quietly go back to the drawing board. WB, for example, is notorious for this, especially with their DC films. And remember a few years ago when G.I. Joe, Transformers and even M.A.S.K. were all gonna be part of a shared movie universe? They came out talking like it was a done deal, but we've heard nothing substantial about it in years.
That's what the announcement of a "Rise" movie always felt like, to me; it wasn't gonna happen, but Nick obviously had to push the show as hard as they could, and saying "Yeah, we're working on a movie, too" definitely makes it sound like they had confidence and a long-term plan in place, even though that was obviously not correct.
The toys didn't sell and the reaction to the show was overwhelmingly negative outside of a very passionate minority, so I think it's safe to say that the movie isn't going to happen, and most likely never was.

Unfortunately (for me) I think you're right Leo656. I would guess the movie was part of a plan they had pencilled out after the launch of the Rise project.
I think the best...the very best...Rise fans can hope for is the completion of the second series.
Being from the UK, it is very difficult to catch this series. I haven't been able to complete the first series and I doubt I'll be able to watch any of the second without go into parts of the dark web that sane people fear.
I think based on what has happened to this show, for the fans of it to get 2 complete series would be an achievement. Look what happened to Thundercats 2012, that was a good show but they never got to tie up loose ends in a second series.

And remember a few years ago when G.I. Joe, Transformers and even M.A.S.K. were all gonna be part of a shared movie universe?
They finally started negotiating with a potential writer for the M.A.S.K film so there's some signs of life still with that. I imagine factors like the recent M.A.S.K comic book not selling well may have contributed to some cold feet on furthering the film for a while and they wanted to put some distance between them and that.

Not gonna lie, gonna be super disappointed if (as it increasingly appears) it gets cancelled. Rise is a lot of fun and a feast for the eyeballs. It's a pity Nick didn't put a little more support behind it in terms of marketing, merch, airtime, availability etc.
I actually wish they give the franchise a 2-4 years break at least, so...Cancel Rise asap and wait a few years until the next reboot. That's what I'd like.

Yeah, that's my worry... we are made to wait several years and then just get 'Rise' 2.0. :tsad: No amount of time would magically make stupid acting out-of-character Turtles enjoyable.

I didn't gel with the pilot episode. That's all I watched so far.
I do plan on rewatching the pilot and more episodes of season 1 soon. I want to make sure I give the show plenty of opportunity to flex its stuff for me.
Already know there's a lot I don't like, but I know there will be things about it that I do.
I absolutely do not like some of the character designs, but I do think the animation itself (despite the designs) is very nice to watch, particularly during action sequences. So things like that I know I can appreciate it for.
Whatever Nick's next shot at TMNT is like... I hope they learned a lot from their experiences on both 2012 and Rise to see what works and didn't work, and will hopefully give us their best product to-date, as long as they are committed to not cheaping out, and get the right talent on board.

True! I'd like a few years break mostly because I think that a) the casual fans might feel tired and jump of the boat if they keep making reboot after reboot, and b) it'd give proper time for a new generation of fans rise.
It doesn't guarantee the next reboot will be good and while I hope for the best, you never really know. :/

I didn't even like the other Nick show very much, although it's got its moments and is certainly more in line with what one should expect from a TMNT show than this one is. Frankly I haven't liked much of anything TMNT-related since the merger.
The wrong company bought it. My gut tells me that the only company that could have bought the TMNT property and exploited it properly with a variety of products aimed at kids and adults would have been WB/DC. And even that probably would have been bumpy because WB are generally incompetent at everything. BUT. At least they don't market EVERY single thing they do exclusively to little kids and nobody else, like what Nick is forever going to do and what inevitably would have happened under Disney if they'd gotten it.
TMNT will never be best-served by being a "for kids only" brand, but they're now forever being held hostage by a company that will never let them be anything BUT that. So expecting anything of actually sincere quality to ever come again for as long as Nick owns it... well, that's pretty laughable to even think about.
So yeah, they could do a new show next year or ten years from now... it still probably wouldn't interest me. Nothing they've done interests me and I doubt that'll change.

Yeah, it kind of seems the direction it could go should Nick decide they're done with them.
Though I don't like the idea of them inevitably becoming property of the likes of DC or Marvel type companies because I can't see them ever letting them go again to be their own thing... and I kind of like that they are their own thing and not permanently tied to those brands while still able to visit on occasion.
Though even if Nick stupidly tries to keep it hostage as a kids thing, despite being owned by Viacom and damn well have more options than just Nick... at the very least I hope they remain open to licensing to let other people do things with the TMNT that Nick doesn't want to do. Just give WB/DC partner licensing to do a series, or hire a studio to do a good one and put it on CBS.

I mean, DC has Masters of the Universe and that's been mostly separate from the mainstream DCU with only occasional, easily-ignored cross-overs that don't really impact "canon" all that much. Granted, that's an outlier, but it shows that there's precedent for them to publish a property while not having to fully integrate it into their mainstream line. They don't suddenly have Superman and He-Man chatting over tea every week just because they're owned by the same company. That gives me some hope that if they had TMNT they'd resist the temptation to force them into places they didn't fit and would let them exist as their own "pocket universe" within the larger infrastructure.
Like obviously they'd be tapped to be crossed over on occasion - especially when they do one'a their Huge Event plotlines that re-shuffles the entire line - but there's a chance that they could exist in their own bubble most of the time.
I mean, Disney/Marvel for years has been perfectly willing to undermine and even completely tank properties they own, like X-Men and Fantastic 4, simply because they don't own the full movie rights. And if the property isn't exploitable as a movie or theme park ride, they don't like to publish their books, produce toys, put them in video games, etc. etc. etc. So given that Disney is the only non-WB corporation I could see having the cash to ever pick up TMNT in the future, their wishy-washiness doesn't give me a ton of hope for how they'd be able to handle TMNT. TMNT's entire existence shouldn't be tied solely to "blockbuster" films aimed at the lowest common denominator. It kind of already IS that, now, and it ain't going well, and that's how Disney would handle it.
WB makes a lot of boneheaded decisions and they're generally pretty slipshod at running things, but again, they tend to have a better track record at managing characters and properties that aren't designed to fit in the "blockbuster movie" mold. DC had their Vertigo line for decades, just for one example. That's what gives me a tiny spark of hope that if WB acquired the brand, they'd at least do more good with it than Nick/Viacom has.
Ultimately, TMNT shouldn't be a corporate property, period, but it is. There's only three companies who could afford it: Nick/Viacom, who has it and is doing a bad job, Disney, who could easily buy it but might do an even worse job, and WB, who's technically the best-positioned to do a slightly-better job than either of the other two, going solely on precedent, although obviously a lot can go wrong there, too.
Ultimately, the brand "died" when it became a corporate mascot. Now it's a zombified corpse stuffed full of dirty cash. So really... not much to be hopeful for from any direction, when you really think about it. There is no "good" potential future outcome regardless of where it gets sold off to, if and when... only "bad" and "less bad, a little, maybe".
