Third Movie comment.

I've just seen the third TMNT film but once again I have a comment to make; What's with those spots on the turtles' skin?

The Turtle costumes in the movies have always had spots. But in the first movie they were very subtle. In the second, you could see them easier, but I think that was more do to the bright lighting the movie had, opposed to the dimmer light of the first movie.

The spots in TMNT 3 were bad, I'll agree to that.

i saw a picture of 3rd movie don with spots, and it was gross, no really, i was almost shaking :oops:

Yes, the costumes in the third movie were awful IMO, as well as Splinter's....he didn't even look real. The ones in the first movie were much more realistic IMO.

Yeah I thought so too. The first film had excellent costumes, but I was impressed and blown away by the facail expressions and movements seen in the second one.

I liked the costumes in all the movies but it really suprised me that Splinter was just a hand puppet in the 1st and 2nd movie.

First off, whoever did the 3rd flick redesigned the guys. They look too cartoony. And like the first replier said, they always had 'em. They were very subtle in the 1st movie, made 'em look more realistic.

not just a hand puppet, but yes a puppet....and do you know who was the puppetir??? The same guy who does Elmo. He did the voice of splinter also.... he's like a six foot 5 tall black guy....named Kevin Clash I believe.
I say this because i think he's versitial...and talented....to go from splinter to elmo. eek!

I really don't think the spots looked that bad, it's just that no one was used to them.

Im not sure about this fact, so dont hold me to it, but i think that in the first 2 movies, jim henson did the turtles costumes. I think that he may have allready been dead by the time they made the 3rd movie though.

It might have something to do with the lighting too.

well i know henson did costumes for the first movie but im not sure about the 2nd and im pretty sure bt the 3rd movie he was already dead...most movies that have puppets and costumes like TMNT hensons workshops around the world make them...its what their known for...

Henson's company did the costumes for TMNT 1 and 2, and he died during (before?) production of TMNT 2. I'm pretty sure there's a dedication to him the movie's credits.

Yeah, I love the costumes in the first one, they're the best, and then the ones in the second are ok, I don't like their facial expressions though, but I just hate the costumes in the third one. Horrendous, someone said.

You know what would have made TMNT III a lot better? If they had included Usagi Yojimbo. He is an intersting character, definately well known in the TMNT world, and most of all, he would fit perfectly in medieval Japan. Just have to make a few plot twists to bring him into the movie. Having him in the "enemy who later becomes friend" role would have given the movie more merit in the long run.

In regards to Jim Henson:

Yes, Jim Henson's Creature Shop did create both the suits and Splinter for the first two movies, and he died just after production of the second, so there is a dedication to him in the credits of the second movie.

Which is why Kevin Clash was splinter, it was one of his first gigs after joining the Henson team. After Henson's death, the company was taken over by his Son.

Something I later found out, after watching a biography of Jim Henson, was that he is responsible for Seasamie Street...I forget that....because I usually think of the Muppets and Kermit and those cute Fraggles.

But only Henson---the creator of the art of Puppetiers could have had a hand in the Turtles. Seriously.

(did you know the origional Kermit puppet was made from a coat? Hence the treditional wooley look!)

i first saw the movie by ordering a VHS of it back around last Winter.

Yes the costumes do look different in all. The TMNT look more smoothier.

for splinter, OK but i don't see why there was a reason to make him 75% different. The splinter puppet from the previous 2 were good. But some reason this one's face is smaller than the previous 2 and his hair was more shaggier. Doesn't bother me much but the whole idea of the 3rd one was something else.

for me the 3rd was good, not the everyone's favorite but but I still like it.

maybe it should of had a plot in N.Y. involving mutant animals like Leatherhead or some other charater that's Mutant animal.

Oh well, I'm going to get the 2nd & 3rd Movie on DVD that way I can have all 3 movies on DVD.

Well anyway all 3 movies are my favorite.

Since the 3rd one does shows how boring it can be for the TMNT with no villians running around in N.Y. Even i would conplain like Raph from doing the same Morning routine over and over again.

I wounder how many of the Japenese have family relation with Oroku Saki?
