Didn't see this anywhere so:
http://money.cnn.com/2003/11/24/news/companies/violent_toy/index.htm?cnn=yes
Lion & Lamb alleges that the Casey Jones action figure from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles promotes a vigilante code. The message on the toy's box says, "Judge, jury and enforcer! ... Casey has a unique sense of what's right or wrong and you better be on the side of right or he'll slap shot you upside your head with his hockey stick."and that TMNT is atelevision-generated brand with the message that the best way to solve problems is through violence"

Oh please, I've grown up with the TMNT and I'm most definetely a non-violent person.
These parants should tell their kids about the difference between fantsay and real life instead of wanting to change Tv so that it will be a perfect robotic parent.

ohh jee like I'm going to take ALL my son's TMNT stuff away, oh yes they are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
violent.
he doesn't imitate them 24hrs a day. it's not the same level as PRs, freakin PRs are just corny, lowest of the lowest.
its like when the idiots whined how the first movie was so violent making them screw with the tone of the 2nd movie. it'd have been so much better if it had the same tone.

Well........Im not quite sure how I feel about this. Part of me is laughing uncontrollably at the idiots who made that article and the other part of me is pissed they are portraying TMNT that way. Most cartoons have violence and I dont see how TMNT sticks out above any other. I hope no one takes this article seriously.........

Did anyone see a TV report on this? The woman giving the report...man. It's obvious she had a VERY unhappy childhood. The...whole...time...she...spoke...in...the...slow est...most...monotonous...voice...
Do people have nothing better to do than look for trouble where it doesn't exist and try to foul up other people's lives?
After listing the "evil" toys, they then showed some toys they thought every kid should have, including an educational (Math) video game, and a bunch of crappy toys from an air port gift shop.
I literally have an old news report on tape, from the early 90's, that said the TMNT promoted team work, and using violence as the last solution...the report was done from a local Karate place.

Having the turtles on that list is totally ridiculous!!!
TMNT is no more violent than your average Looney Toones cartoon. How many times have Looney Toon characters been hit on the head, run over, and shot. Yosemite Sam is very irresponsible with firearms; Pepe Le Pew is a stalker; and Wile E. Coyote negligently discharges dynamite. :P
But no one word on banning their stuff.
Okay my rant is now over. Thank you.

They are violent. Get over it.
TMNT is cooler than MOTU

I think they should ban the Jesus action figuee, because he promotes an unsafe attitude towards water.

i wish i could meet these ppl in person and show them what is really violten...ticking me and other fans of those producst they hate...parents have nothing better to do thes days then to blame their bad parenting skills on other things and it just happends to be entertainment..but hey what about sports? there violent..i used to play baseball...if any parents truely knew what the coach said to us they would die. we was all like "kill them(other team)and do it good." heck im sure its even worse for wrestling and football. but ya violence doesnt come from movies, music, toys,tv it comes from bad parents who dont teach their kids right from wrong what real and fantasy. stupid parents should all be put in a rocket and sent to the sun. i know parents have always been like this but as of a few yrs ago its gotten way out of control..i mean first they say pokemon is "evil" and now its TMNT? ppl need to grow up and get on w/ life....man im all ticked now god i hate those ppl...

man that is a bunch of crap!! They need to get that dman DBZ. Look hw voilneve that junk is. :tevil:
MikesPizzaShack
11-28-2003, 08:25 PM
wow hold on DBZ isnt junk and yes it violent but its anime....just about 99% of all anime is violent its just how that stuff works...the point of this is parents takeing things way out of control. there blameing every wrong thing their children do on eveything else but themselves...and thats not right. humans as a species is violent look at history its mostly wars, chaos, and carnage....but a bad parent is a bad parent and theres NO excuse for that.

No one will care about this. So one parent reads it and decides their kid shouldn't watch it. Who cares. It's their kid, it's their choice.

Parents should just teach their kids that TV IS NOT REAL LIFE! Then kids may like the violence on TV, but not use it every where. Worked for my parents.

I have to say... what IS wrong with violent toys? I mean, we grew up with TMNT, Transformers, GI JOE, MUSCLE plastic wrestlers, and all those great 80's toys, and we're pretty okay.
I have a self loathing problem, but that's totally unrelated.
I mean, parents should talk to their kids about violence and such, and stop blaiming cartoons and movies for misraising their kids. Becasue of bad parenting we have 3 and under toys at Fast food places (as if the food's not dangerous enough), no toys in the wonderballs (pitty... they would have been cool if they still had them) and the TV rating system that people ignore anyway.
Also, the Michaelangelo Nunchucks set was on the list of dangerous toys, as they have the potential to be used as "a blunt weapon"

A Christmas toy list just came out from a group called W.A.T.C.H. or something, and Mikes Toys naunchakus got place 7 on this years most dangerous toys. They are dangerous for "blunt impact" and the box says, "In the hands of a ninja master these are dangerous weapons" or something like that. Like a stick in the back yard isn't going to be more dangerous than these. What about all the other plastic weapons? I can't believe these idiots.

i think that if you try to swing the toy 'chucks they will only brake, and if you try to hit someone with it, it will hurt you more, because you'll be embarassed becuase you bought all the crap about how dangerous theses toys are

Now apparently, WATCH thinks kids are all 2 year olds that like to swallow all these little plastic toys. I mean, some of the younger toys (Like Riblets the Frog) have little things an unsupervised kid could choke on. Of course, these are for neglagent parents that do not watch their kids, and let the TV be the baby sitter.
But I have to say one thing about the Nunchucks. You have to admit, they pretty much jump the shark when they make any kind of child's toy version of a weapon...
