Today is Peter Laird's Birthday according to the official TMNT Twitter. Don't know how old he is. But we gotta wish the man who help create TMNT a Happy Birthday. :tsmile:

Happy birthday, sir!
(A new issue for Volume 4 would be a sweet birthday gift. :twink:)

Indeed. I might criticize their writing at times, but I hope that never in any way seems to detract from the great respect I have for both creators.

Well PL was responsible for the revival of the franchise in the early 2000's:
- Volume 4 came out in 2001, followed by Tales in 2004, and they both went on for about a decade till they stopped. And remember this is after Mirage had stopped publishing in 1995 and Image ended, so Mirage TMNT was essentially "revived" for the first time
- The 2003 TMNT cartoon was basically created during this revival with PL heavily overseeing
- The 2007 TMNT movie
However since 2009, which is now 12 years ago, he's had very little to do with the TMNT franchise. So its been more than a decade since he's had any involvement besides drawing some covers for IDW from time to time.

That would be why we miss him.... IDW has been okay but the PD movies sucked, Rise sucked and IDW since issue 101 has sucked....
Miss ya PL! Nick has bastardized your babies...

Happy Birthday to Peter, whose creations have been a part of my life for, literally, longer than I can think back to.
That would be cool if we sent him a card from "the fans" next year or something. Easier said than done, of course.

I think he did something with Kevin, maybe inking and toning one drawing by him but I can't rember if it was IDW related.

He did the 30th anniversary cover with Kevin. I think he did one or two more covers after for something but I don't remember what.

I say we let Mr. Laird enjoy his retirement. If he ever decides to come back and join Kevin Eastman on some project, great but I'd wouldn't bank on it happening anytime soon.
As for what's been happening as of late with IDW, Nickelodeon ect. this is just a dry spell for the property. I'm sure things will pick up eventually. For all we know the best is yet to come, but we have to be patient and give it time.

He's 67 now which means he was only around 47 when he started writing Vol. 4 back in 2001.
I can see why he had a lot more energy for the comic in his 40's and early 50's than he would pushing 70.
