I'd imagine it has to do with server move. If thats what it takes too keep this place up and running, no complaints from me.

I'm not complaining, just...a bit curious. First time I got on here today I noticed them under the login screen for helping out people with disabilities or something and lots of other things.
I only hope Krang isn't trying to peeve anyone off intentionally with this :|

I guess I should have explained before putting the ads up. This site is expensive to run, and since Shredder and I are paying for it ourselves, we need all the help we can get. Unfortunately, we haven't had any donations (http://www.thetechnodrome.com/donate.shtml) since August or any sales at our online store (http://www.cafeshops.com/thetechnodrome,thetechnodrome2) since March, so the only other option I could think of would be to put ads on the forums, since they are the most visited area of the site. As you can see, the ads are mostly TMNT related (except for the occasional generic ads when Google can't find an appropriate one for the page), so they should be of interest to most people here. The site only makes money if you click on the links, so if you see something that interests you, feel free to click it (but please don't click them over and over, since that won't help).I only hope Krang isn't trying to peeve anyone off intentionally with this :|Of course not, and I'm insulted that you would even think that. I don't see how a small box with links at the bottom of the page would "peeve anyone off"... :sweatdro:

Do you have to be signed up with PayPal to donate money to the site? I would love to donate, but I am not registered with Paypal.

Ads - money makes the world go 'round.
One one of the other forums I frequent, the owner/admin came up with a cool idea to help pay for hosting. He holds a lottery about once a month and gives away a nice prize. He takes payments via paypal and sells a set amount of tickets. The lottery is held after the tickets are sold. The revenue collected is only enough to cover the cost of the prize and a month's hosting fees, so he is not ripping people off. It works out very well.

I was wondering about those ads when I first logged in. :embarass: Actually, I think the Google ads are a great idea to generate some revenue. I even clicked on an Amazon add today, and checked the prices for some of the new TMNT figs that I'm still missing.
I'm just glad we don't have to deal with pop-ups.

Uhhhh, sorry you feel that way Krang....I was actually just half-joking about it, because I've been to other forums where the admins put all kinds of ads up just to drive people away...sad, but true.

I wish I had money for the site but I am so broke. And I don't have acredit card. How much do you make if we click on the ads?

I would love to donate, but I am not registered with Paypal. No problem, I could set up an additional method of donating (through Amazon.com), but you would still need to use a credit card. One one of the other forums I frequent, the owner/admin came up with a cool idea to help pay for hosting. You know, I find myself clicking on the ads just because they are TMNT related. That was a brilliant move Krang. I actually like to find out where the links will lead me. :D

There are no pop up ads on this site, thanks to Krang and Shredder. And with the Google ads, we won't have to worry about any pop ups as Krang explained earlier.

Does anybody get any pop ups on this site?Like Azure said, there have never been and never will be popup ads on this site. If you got one while visiting here, you probably have adware installed on your computer. How exactly would that work?Amazon.com also has a donation system similar to Paypal, so it offers another way to donate without having to sign up for Paypal. As for sending the money, I assume it would be very similar to buying something from Amazon.com with a credit card.
