Movies/Next Mutation.

I'm begining to wonder if The Next Mutation takes place after the third movie. I know it may be difficult for you but watch the show again; the Turtle Lair is the exact same as the lair seen in TMNT2&3!

I don't think so. I only saw a few eps cause it sucked but i remember shredder being in the beginning of that horrible series.

While they did have the Turtle's lair in the old subway tunnel, it probably isn't direct continuity (more like an AU if anything.) One thing I noticed was that the lair was much smaller, the same layout just scaled down. And Shredder's alive, with no explanation of how he survived (though it gives me a solid argument for my "Super Shredder wasn't actually Saki, but a random Foot ninja/clone" theory. Not that anyone here would take events from TNM as "facts". :P :lol: )

I think it took certain aspects from the movies, since it, too, was live action, but I also noticed influences from the old cartoon (like Mikey's really strange appetite.)

One mistake I noticed in The Next Mutation was Shredder's scar was on the wrong side.

Are you sure the lair was smaller in the Next Mutation? It looked the same to me, but I haven't watched the Next Mutation for a while. It seems strange that they would make an exact replica, except smaller. That lair was the best the Turtles have ever had in my opinion.

I am fairly certain that the people involved with the show intended it on being tied to the movies. The lair itself is a big give away. If was was indeed smaller, that's only because they had a smaller set space to work with there in Vancouver. That is the Subway car from the movies.

As for Shredder being back... he's the Shredder. He always comes back. That's just what he does. It's in his job description. He's like Optimus Prime, except, you know, more evil.

Aside from that I think the dynamics between the characters echoed the movies a lot.

I mean, it's pretty obvious that Next Mutation happened after something. It pretty much has to be the movies. Any differences between the movies and the Next Mutation can be chalked up to whatever time had passed between the two.

Except Shredder's scar. That was a blunder. Whoops.

If Shredder can survive the garbage truck incident, I guess he can survive the dock incident??? This is kinda making me want to see the TNM episodes now if its in anyway a continuation of the movies....

For those uncertain about the set, it was mentioned in an interview on Fox Kids that The Next Mutation lair was the exact same one used in the movies, which they bought and restored.
