I've heard a lot of things about the 1987-1996 series, I've only seen five of of those episodes and three of them only as a child. I've heard things like,

Baxter Stockman getting turned into a fly,
A fifth 'turtle' called Zack,
April getting turned into a turtle,

This I gotta see, can anyone send me some pictures, either post them to this thread or send me a PM?

ok Baxter Stockman yes he was turned into a fly they made a toy of it in the old line of toys....

Zack the fith turtle wasn't a turtle...he was a young blond haired boy who was kinda anoying in my opinion....

April was never turned into a turtle in the cartoon that happened in the archie comics.....in the toon she was mutated into a Cat Woman, Fish Woman, & Bug Woman....

That pic of the Fish April reminds of those characters that appear in Volume 1 and reappear in Volume 2 (I have the issues, but I'm too lazy to go see what numbers they are). I wonder if that was the basis for the Fish April. Anyone know?

Stupid question, why would Laird not allow April to be turned into a turtle? I know the show is about Ninja Turtles, but so? They mutated her 3 or 4 times in the orig. toon. It may have not been a turtle, but there were other Turtle mutants on the orig. toon.

I have to side with Lisardo, if the new show can have innocent citizens mutate into Quarry, Stonebitter and Razerfist, why can't they have April mutate into a human turtle! Ha, never mind how the turtles would react, imagine how Casey would react!

I can't speak for the Cat mutation, but I was never crazy about her becoming that ghastly fish in that episode (one of the 6 I have on tape). Not only was she ugly as sin, but they basically did it for :

A) Putting April in the Damsel in distress role

and B) to make bad fish puns like "Call me Tina Tuna!"

Actually, I was never really crazy about that ep, andyway... though I did like Dr. Polidorius. (though after the first few times watching, the turtles calling him "Dr. Polly Anna" and the like over and over wasn't funny anymore)

Wasn't there one where she mutated into a bug? I remember something about Vernon becoming a Spider...

Again, I think the Fish April looks like the fish people in Sons of the Silent Age #28 in volume 1. These fish people also appeared in volume 2. Perhaps this was one of the reasons for turning April into a fish woman. Just look at the cover of #28 and you'll see the resemblence.

Well an ep like that wouldn't have the deepest meaning I'll admit, but it'd still be pretty funny to see IMO. I know it will never be made, that's obvious, but that's the whole reason we are discussing it here, "What if..."

Tho I don't care how Casey would react cuz it doesn't seem like he cares for her too much in the new toon. There isn't much relationship there from what I can see, yet. And I never cared for Casey and April together anyway, I'd rather one of the TMNT and April together. They deserve that much for saving her life all those times, lol! Again, these are my opinions in a "What if..." kind of way.

Tattoo, Groundchuck, and Dirtbag premiered as toys actually (I think they did at least).

I don't think they were on the show more than that one two parter but Tatoo was in an issue of the archie comics and Groundchuck and Dirtbag were in both the NES game TMNT III: The Manhattan Project and the Gameboy game TMNT III: The Radical Rescue.

It seems strikingly odd to me that you you thought the comic about April getting turned into a turtle was really cool, yet you dislike the idea of a new episode with the same plotline.

I think he feels it was good for Archie, because they had random mutants in just about every issue. But it would be bad for the new series becasue its based on Mirage and should have very few mutants and hopefully no random ones. Its the difference of the series not that the idea is bad.

Well there's very few mutants in the new series. Apart from the turtles and Splinter the only Mutants featured in the new show are Leatherhead, the Shredder clones and the NFTU characters (Though I trust they'll be turned back to normal in Season 2). And anyway, if they did have April turn into a turtle don't you think they'd turn her back sooner or later?

I can understand why Laird would disallow like say, Bebop & Rocksteady from appearing in the new series, but why would he disallow April being mutated into a turtle?
