if you could rewrite a tmnt character or story, what would you change?

While we all have our own opinions on what tmnt media isn't good (Fast Forward, Back to the Sewer, Rise! etc being some examples)

if you could change or rewrite them, what would you change?

if there was a character that you didn't like, what would you change about them?

2003's Fast Forward robot Serling annoys me. I hated that he had to go and follow them Back to the Sewers and keep existing. Make him not do that. Or maybe just not exist at all. :trazz:

There’s a bunch of things wrong with the IDW TMNT, but if I could rewrite Jennika:

She turns into a mutant turtle like she did in #95 and stays with the main characters in Mutant Town. She struggles with guilt due to her bloody past (she was an assassin for the Foot before her mutation) and even starts showing signs of PTSD. She eventually meets another young mutant turtle named Kirby, who is a veteran but was discharged due to losing a limb in combat. He, too, struggles with occasional PTSD and understands her feelings more than anyone else. The two eventually become an item and together they fight crime in Mutant Town as “Shadow” (Jenny’s alter ego) and “Nightwatcher” (Kirby’s alter ego).

I would've changed The City Fall arc from IDW, where instead of Leo getting kidnapped and brainwashed, he turns out to be Saki's son like they originally intended.

Never been fan of the whole brainwashing thing, that's why I never liked characters like Poison Ivy.

There is basically no such thing as a good episode of the Fred Wolf cartoon, but if I had to change only one story, I'd change all of season 1.

While I would just have adapted the space arc, mostly because that was out at the time and it did end up getting adapted for the following cartoons, if I had to work with the basic plot of what season 1 had then I'd do it like this:

April is Baxter Stockman's lab assistant instead of a reporter and Stockman is willingly working with Shredder from the start, effectively acting as a replacement for Krang.
Shredder and Stockman's plans are to construct the Technodrome with technology stolen from TCRI and take over the world.
The Turtles, Splinter, Bebop and Rocksteady all start out as animals and are essentially Shredder's attempt to create a mutant army.
April helps the Turtles and Splinter to escape and Splinter can tell a modified version of the Mirage Backstroy where Hamato Yoshi was banished to another dimension or something and how he wants to bring him back.
The Utroms can serve basically the same purpose in the story as the Neutrinos does in the actual show only in a far less stupid way, their exo-skeletons can even look like Krang's robot body if that was a requirement for toy sales. The Triceratons would also replace the rock soldiers.
Hamato Yoshi comes back at the end and Shredder is banished to D'Hoonib to set up a space arc adaptation.


Obviously that's rough but in general it would play out in a similar manner to the show. Even though it would still require plenty of rewrites, but that's mostly due to the existing plot being pretty lousy to begin with, these are just the broad strokes of what I would change. Please note that this is also done within the imagined constraints of Playmates' and censors' demands, were it completely up to me then Hamato Yoshi would still die and so on.

I'm kind of tired to keep explaining why season 1 isn't really good at all, mostly because way too many people here have convinced themselves that because it's technically the "best" season of the Fred Wolf cartoon, that means it's actually good rather than the sub-mediocre childrens' story that it really is. In case you don't understand what would be improved by these rewrites, it essentially eliminates the need for seemingly rational characters to make utterly bizarre choices to make the plot happen and various random elements to just exist.
