It is noticeable they're burning things down from this arc. I guess they'll find a cure soon to de-mutate everyone in mutant town back to humans again by the end of this arc so they can tear down the town.
But those who were animals before mutants will probably stick with Old Hob or something.

Doubt it, They haven't invented Retromutagen in this universe.

What I don't understand is why Donatello is not toiling night and day working on it like he did in the 2003 cartoon to reverse engineer the mutation of the underground citizens. Not the political concerns and prejudice allegories.

Would you want to help create what could, if used against your family, be potentially the most effective weapon possible?

Maybe there will be mutant supremacists who won’t want to change back and will stick with Old Hob.
“It’s okay to be a mutant! There’s too much human representation in media! Make America Furry Again!”

I do think at this point Donnie just doesn’t have the gear to make a retro mutagen. It feels like the only two that could create it are either the A) Utroms, but they have their own issues and B) Null, and no way she would make it.

Doubt it, They haven't invented Retromutagen in this universe.
Except we already know it's possible to reverse it. Two known methods in fact:
You simply pump the ooze out of their system, as shown in the Dreadmon story.
You reset the bodies through some timey-wimey nonsense, like in Hit the Road.
Stop pretending we didn't see that **** before.
Would you want to help create what could, if used against your family, be potentially the most effective weapon possible?
That's the dilemma I guess. But let's remember that it would still be useful in solving a problem.
And let's remember here that the second movie and all but one of the cartoons (the shortest one by far) had him create a cure for mutations. So I'd say most writers would agree that it would be the right thing for him to do create a cure.

lmao you rascal
But to agree with you, yes, it's exciting that things are happening. Irreversible things! Calamitous things! Status quo-changing things!

I doubt the status quo will change after this, It will remain the same, This is the new norm, its 2022.

I mean that the status quo of Mutant Town is definitely going to be changed after this arc. I'm eager to see how it plays out because there's so many ways it could go

Mutant Town will still be around after these events.

I gotta say, watching Campbell's legacy in this comic literally burn down in front of our very eyes is extremely cathartic.

Please. Childish posturing, awful writing and herd mentality have been around for a long, long time. "New norm" isn't edgy anymore, just sad.

Because, that's the right thing to do.

Despite noticeable improvements and a neat little twist at the end, the so-called main ongoing, which is more like an ancillary title to the Armageddon Game event, remains the weakest link of all three titles currently on offer.

I really liked the art in this issue more than anything, I wish a good chunk of the previous issues looked like this. Really solid art that makes the Turtles look cool and everyone else like the humans and other mutants are drawn nice.
Really puts into perspective some of the previous artists work just didn't look good.

I was down with this issue. It keeps getting better and better since the event started getting into place! I am actually looking forward to the issues now. I think my biggest complaint is how The Alliance has started out.

I didn't really think of it like this till you said something. Kind of though? I dont think she is horrible, but what she was trying to do just wasn't TMNT. Im not opposed completely to having a Town of Mutants, but the story and the presentation wasn't what we came to expect for a hundred issues of the comic. I actually feel a little guilty agreeing with you that them tearing down this thing she worked on felt good, especially after being told several times to read something else if we didn't like it.
I want to think that Campbell planned this. She knows how fandoms go, she knows the type of changes (especially in the past few years) enrage fans and cause people to stop buying or to complain relentlessly in ways that drive people away. Then the heel-turn comes and the celebration is that much louder. If that was the case? Bravo, Sophie! You certainly got me!

It just amounts to people not liking change, Which is a detriment, Change can be good to appeal to a more modern audience.

Alopex always seems to be either absent or ignored when something relevant to her happens. Oh well, I won't miss the soup kitchen. When I first saw it, I thought it was nice to give the character a purpose that wasn't being a sidekick to a less interesting character... but the soup kitchen and Mutant Town in general just furthered her downward spiral into valley girl girlfriend with even less to do than before. Maybe they should just kill her off for drama points since they can't figure out what to do with her. I'm already dreading the re-team up with Nobody that they teased for a future issue.

You do know that 2011 to 2022 is a longer period of time than 1992 to 1995, right?

What's weird to me is the main ongoing is still very much a mutant town story while all the plot stuff is still happening in all the mini's going on. So in a funny way nothing has really changed.

I wouldn't even be shocked if Claw was a Bot. It'd make a lot more sense than anything else.

Since we’re on the topic of “modern audience”, here’s a video by the Critical Drinker:

So updating something to appeal to a more “modern” audience often ends badly.

You're probably too young to know this, but change isn't always or even hardly ever for the best. Especially not when it's just change for change's sake.

Okay...? Who's saying different, though? Everyone loves Alopex, our only complaint is that she's severely underused. I think not even Waltz knows what to do with her anymore.

Hot damn, I feel like I actually care about the plot again. In fact I'm thinking of going back and rereading the last arc or two to refresh my memory on where the status quo was before this arc blew it up. I'd been half-heartedly reading issues for a while, but now I'm paying attention again.
