Well that was yet another heartbreaking issue. But it’s the Ronin-verse. What’d ya expect?

So Mikey is feeling extremely guilty over what happened to Gerel in the previous issue and adds her to his list of dead loved ones, even referring to her as his “heart-sister”. Awww…:cry:

He makes friends with a former fighter from South Africa named Shaka during his time in the thunderdome. He has no choice but to fight other mutants to the death, otherwise the microchip they installed in him will detonate and immediately kill him (in a sort of Suicide Squad style but less gruesome). Shaka has to fight other human prisoners to the death as well, and eventually he and Mikey are the only two fighters left. They are forced to fight each other in the dome, but Mikey refuses to kill his now only friend. Shaka agrees and decides to make the ultimate sacrifice: he turns on their captors and forces them to detonate his microchip so that Mikey will be the champion.

But seriously…WHY HASN’T ANYONE MADE THIS ISSUE AVAILABLE ONLINE YET?? I’ve had to read my physical copy with surgical gloves on just so I could find out what happens next without ruining the pages or the cover.

I think the story of Marie and new turtles should be another standalone story series. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to do a flashback during a flashback?

I just wish they would do one story or another. I like the Last Ronin story well enough. Not as much as TLR, but well enough. I like the new batches story probably a little better, but mostly because I am thinking about how much they could do with a fresh story and setting like this.

It feels like we are getting short changed on both stories because they are sharing a spotlight.
