What would you change about Venus.

Rather than chasing her with flaming torches why don't you guys just sit down and figure out what you could have done to improve the character. I don't think she spoiled The Next Mutation, what spoiled the Next Mutation was the pointless fight scenes and Dragon characters.

I'd erase her. The Turtles are supposed to be unique, once their gone, their species is extinct. Adding her took that away.

First off, her looks. I'd go for something a bit less "obvious" that she's female. And if I had it to do over again, I'd give her white or black as her color.

Let's just erase whatever persuades her to ever try speaking slang, and while we're at it, slap the guys for correcting her English when it isn't really needed. (Actually, the TMNT themselves need a good beat down for some of their stunts.)

I liked her powers, and that she was self-conscious about her mistakes, but really, after 17 years, she should be better.

And while she has a job to do, I totally hate that she all but forgot about her father's death after awhile. I'd have her leave for awhile, but when the dragons show up, she'd probably feel like she has to stay to help them.

Here's the thing: Venus really helped to ruin that show - there was too much of her and she was annoying to begin with. I've said it before and I'll say it again - April was the only female character to be somewhat successfully integrated into every episode. At worst, Venus should have been handled like Mona Lisa or Lotus - she appears in a few episodes as a guest star, but that's it. At best - she shouldn't have been there in the first place.

FOR A POWER RANGERS SEASON, in Next mutation he was poorly used, throw him into "Power Rangers Ninja Storm" and he would have owned.

The Next Mutation was just a failed attempt to bring TMNT back into the mainstream. The popularity of Power Rangers at the time was probably a big influence for the format of the show. The introduction of Venus was simply a gimmick to get more females into watching the Ninja Turtles, just like there were female Power Rangers. The fact that Venus was just some sort of marketing gimmick is a shining example of why she has no place in the TMNT unviverse other than being a complete waste of space. The Next Mutation, as well as Venus, should have never happened. The TMNT as a whole would have been much better off without them.

I never cared for Venus, but am contimplating using her in a story sometime in the future, but change her character up a lot. So for fun, I'd say the best way Venus could have been introduced is to get rid of her super powers, cut out her "always being better then the turtles" attitude, and made her more of a sidekick, girlfriend character for one of the turtles.

Just my opinion, but thats about the only way I could salvage Venus.

Aye yi yi...if I was a type with power I'd agree with Kali. Anyhoo...I've got one very good salution here....either change LOTS about Venus (including the fact she's a turtle) or.....just replace her with Ninjara! Though it would be hard to make a costume of her and they probably couldn't aford to use the character. Think about it though...if it's a girl and on the team, what diffrence does it make if it's a turtle or not? X.x If they were really just going for the 'reel in more females with a heroine' aim they could have brought in any ol' species as long as she was female and a part of the team. April, Mona, or Ninjara would have been good in my opinion...that or they should have done a good deal of changes to Venus.

IF there HAD to be a female turtle, they should have started from scratch and re-invent the turtles like a "What-If" comic:

Retell the story with 5 turtles found, raised, and trained by Splinter. ALL NINJAS! -Basically make the Next Mutation into an alternative turtle universe. I KNOW we all hate change, but if the producers really wanted to stretch the story line of the show, why do it half-@$$? What REALLY sucked about Venus was her adjusting to NYC, her accent, and her orgion. She didnt really have a good, strong, believable backround.

Other than completely erasing her, I'd say if they needed a female mutant so badly, they REALLY should have used Mona Lisa instead.

Of course if it HAD to be Venus, this is how I'd go about writing the character.

Firstly, she would have been mutated from a similar incident (than the four), not exactly that one. Second, she would be a really smug (can't say the term here, can I? let's just say female dog) and always try to point out how girls are better than boys. The others would grow to dislike her, causing a feud between the TMNT and venus. Then in an effort to prove how great she is, she tries to single handedly destroy the Dragon Lord guy (or better yet, Shredder) she either dies, or gets seriously injured, and gets so ashamed, she leaves them completely in a journey to find herself. (and since it was kid's TV, it would have to be the latter). She'd be written off, just as April O'neil makes her first appearance.

I do like the idea of remaking Venus as another animal, or completely redoing the origin... would be a neat project. But my rewrite's gonna be fairly close to the original, so too bad I can't use that idea. :lol:

I personally have to agree with Jarrah and Kali. Saban did no good for Venus. They stereotyped her personality, they made her look like a typical human anime fetish (thank god they spared her from having a PINK bandana at least!), and they totally slagged the original creation story from teh TMNT to make her some kind of sister. But no a sister, cause Leo decided, by some work of science, that he wasn't related to her.

But if Venus were placed in the hands of our better liked writers for the old TMNT cartoon, or the Archie comics, you guys would prolly be loving her 65% more! Heck, I know I have read many a fanfic with her written in, and those fanfic authors even portray her 100% better than Saban. After all, the other universes had Ninjara, and Mona Lisa, and Mitsu, and Karai, and well... any other female character from the cannon shows and cartoons flirting with the guys. No one complained about those, did they?

Aye... yes, I will agree with Laird that I too don't like the idea of the Mirage comic book TMNT to be running off and procreating with females of their own mutated turtle species.

However, I regarded TNM series to be in its own wierd universe, like how the old cartoon and the Archie story lines are. As long as Venus exists there, she's cool. I'm cool. We should all be cool. *nods*
