So why is future Lita able to change future just for her own selfish desire without any consequences?

It's very likely Jason Aaron will ignore all this future timeline stuff when he takes over, so it's exactly what it is, a "what if" possible future. It's obvious they don't have to strictly adhere to it. And once Sophie is gone there's no reason to either.

They are not gonna ignore anything, because this universe will still exist, so whatever the outcome in 150, Whatever comics that comes after will deal with the aftermath.

So Jennika is just going to leave Lita behind and run off to be a groupie? Mother of the Year material right there.

She might now be green on the outside, but still white trash on the inside. Somehow, I find this… amusing. Probably for the same reason I like Roger Black and Waco O’Guin animated sitcoms.

I’m not particularly proud of it.

No. You still aren't right because what you were so stubbornly insisting on is that the main timeline and the "present" was going to inevitably going to lead to this scenario, as in this concept was eventually going to be the core premise of the status quo.

This, however, is by all implication just a possible future or an alternate reality, not the set in stone future. And, need I remind you, you were also insisting the future Tokka and Rahzar went into was going to be "the" future, which this one clearly isn't. And even if that isn't the intention, the series is getting a new writer in four months anyway, so there is no guarantee he'll stick to any of this.

You are literally lying about what you said in order to say "see, I told you so!". And even if your point that there would be "a" future where mutants replaced all of New York's population rather than the insistence that it would become the unalterable status quo, you still wouldn't have predicted anything since we've known about such a future since at least 2014, long before you started being overly insistent.

Mutant Town is not a bad idea per se, is just bad idea in a context of TMNT, which is supposed to be about group of freaks and outcasts surviving in a hostile society. Mutant City completely misses the point of it, for the same reason why turning TMNT into a show with talking animals doing funny things (FW) is not a good idea.

It could be used as a setting once or twice, but making it a permanent fixture of TMNT story is not a good idea. It misses the point of the story and turns into something very generic.

It was a story that made sense as part of the endgame of this specific TMNT iteration, and which had great potential for different kinds of stories, as well as a lot of pathos just gift wrapped and handed over on platter. But instead, the concept was wasted, we focused on all the worst parts of the concept, and instead of being more like Arkahm City with mutants, we got... well, we got what we got.

Now the concept has been tainted, and I really don't want to see it again. Especially since I know any future uses of it would rush the hell out of it, instead of building up to it like this verision did. Even Mirage had first contact in Vol. 4. The concept is doable. It just requires talent, and significantly less narcissism.

Boy, you just never give it a rest, do you? You speak as though you have any authority in deciding the matter. And unless you've secretly been the President of IDW all along, that seems unlikely.

Really need to see what happens next issue but as far as I can tell none of the 'potential futures' have been consistent; #118 it was post-apocalyptic, 20/20 showed and Utrom war (though with Krang and Ch'rell gone we can discount that one) and Turtles in Time's futuristic city was being run by The Foot/ Oroku Saki or at least a Shredder implied to be him which wouldn't make much sense given his current status although the upcoming miniseries could change things in that regard.

They aren't, which is why TigerClaw is just being an idiot about this. At most they're consistent in showing that humans are no longer the dominant society in the future, but that has widely different implications. Even ignoring the fact that the main characters have conflicting fates, it's seriously doubtful that "the" future is an Utom colony, a mutant utopia and a post-global warming hellscape all at the same time, because that would be really stupid. Then there is the fact that the future can't be set in stone, because then Bebop and Rocksteady would not be able to go back in time and kill their past selves, that alone confirms splitting timelines.

**** me, I hate that this idiot keeps insisting on contradicting established facts about this universe because he likes to "see fantastical characters".

Ultimately, there have been... I wanna say at least 5 different depictions of IDW's future? And in all of them, the only consistent factor has been a sizable mutant population. The circumstances are always wildly different, but there's always more mutants in the future.

There has never been any definitive future, but TigerClaw has been insisting each one was the definitive future for years now, until a new depiction with more furries in it shows up, at which point he switches to declaring that one the "end all, be all, very definitely definitive future."

Hopefully this is all over and done with soon. This whole future timeline stuff never made any sense, and the less we see of Lita in general the better. Bob and Carmen are the most "nothing characters" the comic had introduced, and considering some of the mutant town characters, this is saying a lot. At this point none of this really makes any sense because as said all the future timelines contradict each other anyway.

Nice to see Renet again, I guess. IDW's version of Armaggon not really being an actual character but more of a plot device is kinda weird too. In Archie he was a time traveling mutant shark, and in the Nick cartoon he was an alien bounty hunter. In IDW he's just...a giant apocalyptic shark with no character.

Every possible future leads to the same outcome, a mutant only society, Every time you travel far into the future, Your gonna see some variation of that outcome, No matter how different, The mutant population just increases to a point where they become the dominant society in New York, There is no escape from that, It can be delayed, But they can't stop the inevitability of it, Its like an absolute point in the timeline where things will go that way no matter how you try to prevent it.

The whole "evil bob from the future" is the most nonsensical part of this final arc at the moment. Like I'm not even sure what that's about or why we should care about, it's just weird. It's also stupid how Renet/Lita know about it and don't tell present day Don or anything, yet Lita blurts out everything else about the future. Sophie's writing is very weird.

Same problem in Battle of the Bands arc. Especially when she "accidentally" says something about The Turtles' future girlfriends, she immediately acts like "Oh! No, I said too much". I don't understand why she wants to keep them in suspense at this point while warning them that future will be bad? This is why I don't like this character because her actions is really no different than Evil Bob.

Except for the futures that instead depict it as a new homeworld for the Utroms, or any of the other various futures that have been depicted. Your interpretation, which is more more selection bias than interpretation, only makes sense if all other stories featuring time travel are non-canon if they depict any alternatives.

Also I should probably point out here that according to Campbell, the only writer whose run you seem to care about, the mutants are inherently sterile (and even if they weren't, it's doubtful enough of them are genetically similar to produce offspring). You know what that means right? The Mutant population won't grow from within, they can only make more artificially, meaning it can be prevented.

Hob pretty much gave up on mutant town, he already left it and expressed disappointment how it turned out. Given the Turtles have (for some reason) forgiven him for causing the whole mutant town explosion in the first place, it seems like he's gone off on his own again.

I'm pretty sure Hob is all alone now. Even Herman the crab who was the most loyal to him pretty much left him when the Turtles reasoned with him in his last appearance. Man Ray is dead, Sally is trying to be mayor of mutant town, Pigeon Pete is just there with the others, Slash is dead, and I'm pretty sure Mondo Gecko and Mutagen Man have never appeared in the post 101 issue run, they pretty much disappeared. And of course the 3 weasel kids went off with Alopex and left their "father" too.

So Hob is now a loner.

Hob deserves to die like most villains. When the writers try to pretend he's an antihero, it just makes him a worse character.

The problem is that they did a good job building him and developing into an antihero, right up until Slash died, and he went full Magneto. At that point, he should have been treated as a villain. That should have been his permenant fall from grace, with him as an overarching villain, ultimately ending in his death, but instead they kept acting like he was an antihero. They also confused "sympathetic" with "pitiable." He should have died in the storyline after that, but like so many other things, the Mutant Town arc basically ruined him and everything he had going for him as a character. He, like many others, is just a shell of a formally interesting character.

Old Hob is a strange addition to the franchise. I like him but often forget he exists. It seemed so jarring at the time to have him there right from the start at issue #1, in comparison to what we were used to. I thought it meant he’d play a bigger role but it seems he was more or less a bit player.

Old Hob was a compelling character in the comics, He's to IDW what Tiger Claw is to the Nickelodeon 2012 series.

Old Hob was used for his rivalry with Raphael and to explain why Raph was a loner being separated from his brothers for 1 year when they got mutated. Also being used to work with Baxter at the start and then of course go off on his own and form the Mutanimals. But yeah shortly after that he kind of got lost in the shuffle despite being used to help fight the villains in a few arcs.

I'm more confused why they kept Baxter around all this time. IDW's Baxter has kind of run his course, and they confirmed he would never be mutated or turned into a cyborg so he's just kinda there. Being the mayor didn't really go anywhere and I'm surprised he wasn't just arrested at the end of the Armaggeddon game arc. They should of wrapped his character up.

I may be the only one, but I have never really cared for the Turtles to be romantically involved with anyone. I think it’s been ok in the Nick comic with Don pining over April, Mikey in volume 3 and 4 with his two ladies, and in Archie putting Raph and Ninjara together but in all honesty it’s not something I’ve ever desired to see more of in Turtles comics. I guess it can be done well, Raph and Alopex was fine, I think their relationship evolved naturally, but I think Donnie ending up with Venus is just lazy writing. It just seems like “well we have these two characters so they gotta be together.” Donnie seems like the type of character who would be so into his work that he wouldn’t even notice a girl if she was directly coming on to him. Maybe it could happen naturally, but I bet this new phase with Jason Aaron ignores a lot of this drama or story points. I also think Leo ending up with Koya seems like the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard. It just seems like awful fanfic shipping. Koya is a character with no redeemable qualities. Why would Leo be into her? I don’t even want to know who they’re going to try and make Mikey date. (If they said I don’t remember)

Its quite possible that in the relaunch, Raph and Umeko will get involved romantically, You see how Raph just continues to blurt out Umeko's name at Venus, She's somebody very important, and she will make an appearance during the relaunch, If you remember a couple of months ago Sophie Campbell tweeted out the concept art for Umeko, She won't be featured in the issues leading up to 150, But will appear after.

Umeko is a character who is near and dear to many of us TMNT fans who read the archie comics, and I can't wait what the IDW version of her is going to be like.

What do you expect from a writer who approached writing official work as, if it was their personal fanfic?

The most appalling thing in this whole mess is that editors didn't do a thing to stop it. But on the other hand, such style of writing was mandated from higher ups in the first place, most likely to pander to the lowest common denominator in the fanbase and so called "progressives". Gladly it had failed.

You are far from the only one. I hate all of it but for the same exceptions you yourself listed.

So too did Pete, which is why he always veoted doing this kind of stuff. People can say what they want about his harshness or being a stick in the mud/stickler about certain things, but the TMNT brand desperately needs someone like that who can say "No, that's stupid." on an official level.

I agree on the relationship front. Alopex and Raph was something built up over the course of the comics, so it was fine on paper. It probably would have gone over a lot better if they had stayed in the setting of "lone ninjas stalking the city at night", but having it culminate in Mutant Town combined with Sophie's rather stereotypical writing when it comes to female characters (at least the non-gay ones) combined into an utter destruction of Alopex's character. I still maintain it COULD have worked with a better writer... but for the sake of argument here I would have rather it not happened at all.

And of course all the other romances, given that non of them have even had remotely as long to brew, feel forced and awkward. And they don't really add anything to the characters. It seems like after Raph and Alopex, Sophie decided to do the cliche thing where each hero had to get paired up with someone... and not a single one of them really works.

Yup, fanfic-tier writing: "pair the spares", "everyone get a love interest (no matter how improbable it is)" and so on.

One would expect less adherence to the fanfic tropes from someone who is defined as "professional writer" in the industry, but I guess, this stuff if what considered to be "professional" this days.

Yes it failed but much like the Star Wars sequel trilogy and everything else that's been perverted over the years, you really can't go back. That nonsense is etched in our minds.
It still can be salvaged.
Star Wars was not defined by a Holiday Special, so does TMNT can be saved from this fate.

The difference with something like Star Wars is there's only one timeline and it affects the whole franchise. With something like TMNT, every time we get a new version it's essentially a reboot, so if something happens in one version of TMNT it does not affect the other versions.

For example people who don't like Rise of the TMNT or Mutant Mayhem, can just ignore those versions, what happens in them doesn't affect the other cartoons, comics, etc. IDW TMNT has hit a slump under Sophie but I believe it can bounce back, and even then there were still some good stories there after the first 20ish issues.

It sounds like that's exactly what happened. Sophie's run was supposed to end way, way, WAY earlier but the higher-ups liked what she was doing and encouraged her to double-down. In the midst of all of this, Bobby resigning, lol... maybe a coincidence, maybe not.

So... is Raph's state going to be cured within the very few remaining issues, after Lita said there is no cure, or is he just going to remain an invalid in the relaunch and we see stories, that already took place, of where he was when he went off on his own... Including his other girlfriend.

Unless they really do screw with time, as they seem opposed to doing, how are they going to retcon his condition (and age?).

The Sophie era is a huge chunk. That's not something you can just discard and hope that Aaron does things in a way that will make this series work even if you don't read Sophie's run. I still don't think there's any way to salvage this mess.

And again where are these relationship pairings even coming from venus and Donnie Really.. ? A lot of these relationship are very half baked Or comes outta nowhere. Leo and koya had a chance to be good with the marco issue but it was very underdeveloped. Seeing future Jennika at the end... man really hoping that aaron writes her out. (Which doesn't seem likely) and again with useless characters here from no reason like carmen and bob. I have hope jason do salvage this mess

Yes and no.

Yes, people can ignore versions of TMNT they don't like.

No, those version will effect other version of TMNT, effectively "infecting" them to be more like themselves. I.E. FW basically "infected" all other branches of the franchise, save for a select few, and this is how Rise and Mutant Mayhem have become possible.

Also, yes, we can ignore stuff we don't like, but it is hard to do when THIS IS THE ONLY stuff in the franchise. Like, if there was recently released adult movie about TMNT, in vein of 1990 movie, most people wouldn't rise a stink about Mutant Mayhem. But there is no alternative and it is unknown, if there's one on a horizon. So, naturally people are displeased with a direction of the franchise.

The Star Wars special was not connected to the main story. It's easy to ignore.
It is still was the first work in the series, after A New Hope and, if stars aligned differently, it could have been a template, what people would have expected from the series going forward.

Gladly it was so bizarre and dumb, that it didn't happen, but this possibility shouldn't be discarded.

If this example doesn't fit, I think, Batman can be used as a template. It took few decades to get away from an Adam West version, to make people think of Batman as a serious character, but it was achieved in the end.

This is more or less, what I would love TMNT to be in the future. Multibranch franchise with everything for everyone. As of now, it is basically an unbalanced bush, where one half of it is overgrown, another is mostly lifeless.

Remind me of Mirage Raph gone feral like a wild animal in the future timeline.

I had really kinda hoped he and Mona would eventually pick it back up after she had time to get over herself, accept her new life, and maybe finally apologize to him.

He and Venus may have had some kind of psychic connection, but that doesn't sounds like a reason for a romantic one. I just never got that vibe between them.

After that horrible character turn Mona had, I'd rather her just disappear from the comic entirely. They made her so utterly unlikeable and there was never any real payoff or pushback against it.
