The way he describes TMNT makes it sound like he *gets* TMNT more than any other modern TMNT writer, Eastman aside obviously.

He’s talking about the tone of the Mirage books. The grit and the grime. The Indy flavor. No one seems to capture that anymore.

He's definitely interested in gearing the tone of the comic toward Mirage which sounds like a good thing. Bringing up Return to New York is a sign in the right direction, it sounds like he knows what he wants to do with TMNT.
