Nostrils & initialed belt buckles?

When does this story actually take place? Splinter is alive and with the turtles, and they are in open conflict with Leatherhead. Can anyone remember a point where this was possible?
Nostrils & initialed belt buckles?
I'm assuming that is because of fears that we won't be able to tell which is which with the limited colors.

Shredder has the IDW design there, I'm curious if this is canon or not. The whole green color on white is kinda not working on my eyes here, this series might be a mistake. It's only a mini-series isn't it?

It's not canon; the turtles didn't meet Leatherhead until after Splinter killed Shredder and took control of the Foot Clan and he's clearly living with them in the original sewer lair.

Yeah, thought so. I would think it's either non-canon or the writer just kind of messed up the continuity... Unless, they're resurrecting Splinter?
This is an anthology series, it was never meant to be canon.

If it's an anthology series though, there might be some stories that fit into IDW canon.
Potentially, but chances are slim.
"An anthology of standalone TMNT one-shots in a new artistic style that brings some of the most popular voices in the wider comics world."

I hope this series is good. It’s definitely something I could get into, especially as a collected edition. All the short stories can be a great change of pace from the typical modern decompressed writing style. I also expect they’ll get some rare writers and artists for this series who we wouldn’t normally see on TMNT.
It’ll be hard to sell me on the single issues unless some of these stories really knock me out.

Alright, Thieving God, nice surprise.

I liked it. But of course as an anthology you can’t judge by the first couple of stories and it won’t be for awhile that I can really give a rating.

I read the first issue, and I’m actually impressed.

I have to admit I like the art style of the first two stories and the green is a nice touch.

I liked the first 3 shorts, felt very Mirage-like, and the kind of stories you'd see in Shell Shock or the other Mirage shorts over the years. The two sillier stories didn't do much for me, but they were fine I guess. This series does have potential.

Just added it to my pull list and snagged a copy. I'll review it during the week.
Edit- I enjoyed it. Like a condenses version of Tales of the TMNT.
