This looks very good. Some of the best covers I've seen on a Turtles book by IDW.

Definitely looking forward to this run. Let’s get some friendly competition going between this and the Ronin-Verse. Who can make the better comic?

Isn't this just a one-shot issue.

Okay, so Alpha is a short prelude to setup for the main relaunch?

Been so unsure what they're even doing with these different ones coming or how they might (or not) fit together.

Pretty sure this is just a one-shot. The new issue #1 isn't till the month after.

It’s a one-shot but it’s the start of several new runs.

This one shots leads to the first issue of the relaunch, and the other stories that will be covered in the other ongoing spinoffs.

I thought it was a new series on its own.

I am still amazed they got Burham on this book. He was basically a successor to Frank Quitely during Morrison’s run on Batman. Definitely has a similar vibe and is hyper talented even if not quite Quitely-level in my personal opinion.

Couldn’t have been cheap, relatively speaking. These are all prestige artists.

Lindsey went from 2011 when she debuted till now without becoming a mutant, 2011-2024. I guess it had to happen sooner or later. I'm surprised they waited so long.

It's been a slow burn for a few years now with her mutation.

I know issue 122 revealed her partial mutation and I think it was teased even before that in one of the tie-ins. She's had a bug hand for awhile now.

Was that ever explained? I don't think they ever explained it, she just had a bug hand all of sudden.

Probably from the mutagen bomb.

Probably from the mutagen bomb.

That would then raise the question of why she was the only person ever to get only partially mutated.

She was creating artificial mutagen and was most likely the test subject.

I think she’s been working on a retromutagen unbeknownst to Old Hobb and it only kind of works.

Anyone get the feeling Old Hob and Lindsey will fall in love? Lindsey seemed unusually close to him and Old Hob liked her more than any other human. Now that she's a mutant they may become a couple.

But so far as we know, she’s gay, and I’m pretty sure her mutation was a black widow.

Didn't she break up with her girlfriend if I remember right? Maybe she might go "full cat."

Just read the issue.

1. This is a PURE continuation of the series - it's got new numbers, but it's the IDW story. This could have been issue 151 with ease. I can't imagine picking this issue up and thinking it's a good jumping on point. Maybe issue 1 will be better? Unsure of how much the time jump is exactly. I'm guessing there will be another time jump.

2. Real interested in seeing what exactly the turtles have been doing during this time jump.

3. Lindsey is an idiot. And I was wrong.

The second story went pretty dark there. Quite a few questions have been answered but certainly more are posed regarding the time skip since #150.

Also nice to get the handy reading checklist for the issues being released later this year.

I wonder if Donnie is going thru the whole "temporal psychosis & advanced temporal atrophy" thing like the future Raph in issue 147.

@jestergoblin Lindsey is definitely an idiot but I could see it being possible she was working on a retromutagen that just didn't work.

Also nice to see some of the other mutanimals return.

Nice to see Tom Waltz back, it's funny how his writing is like night and day difference from Sophie's, even when using the same characters! Here we have a story with all mutants, Jennika, the Darkwater characters, Sally, etc...all continuing the same plot threads from Mutant Town....but it's all just a LOT better. Everything is written better, the story feels exciting to read, and things work.

This really just goes to prove Tom Waltz should of never left (at least for the issue 101-150 gap). He would have handled the same mutant town concept so much better. Granted I am excited to see Jason Aaron's writing in the new #1, so I'm still glad he's not back full-time and doing his own mini-series coming up. I know Tom is busy writing The Last Ronin, but I missed him on the main comic.

Also really glad to see that character is still alive in the last panel, I always thought his fate felt ambiguous before and it rubbed me the wrong way what the weasels did to him and had no consequences to their actions.

1. The first story is pretty good having donny be a semi amenaisc. With him trying to get back home. Pretty good start with the lead up with #1

2.Its pretty dark, glad to the see the mutant animals are alive just hope tom waltz is writing mutan nation. He really knows how to fixed up a terrible storyline

Just read the issue, it was really good, Regarding Donnie, I don't know if its the same Donnie we saw at the end of issue 150.

So glad to see Mondo Gecko, Pigeon Pete, and Seymour back, and on top of that Ray is alive and back too.

Read the Jason Aaron portion and ordered a copy. There wasn’t too much to gauge so the story hardly had the opportunity to blow me away but I enjoyed it. Neither Aaron or Burnham disappointed me here. I’m pretty picky with comics these days so it could have easily turned me off and it didn’t, so you could say I am enjoying myself already.

Btw, the pencil and inks for issue two are looking hot.

The only minor quibble I have as this comic was great, is I don't know what Waltz sees in these Darkwater characters. They're like the most generic characters in the comic since they were introduced and felt redundant with the EPF around. Like they're an example of how bloated the comic gets in general with all these side characters, they're not even remotely needed.

They really wanted Hob to be an antihero.

The problem is that they were working towards that, and before Slash's death, the character was genuinely improving and moving more and more towards antihero, but then Slash's death was his breaking point, and he went full villain. At that point, he should have died at some point during the Campbell run, but instead Campbell decided to make him a simpering, somewhat pathetic mess, who wasn't even a good villain, who then went back to being more of an antihero, acting as though the development to full on extremist didn't happen. Just another example of how Campbell completely botched that whole run.

I've always said, the problems were never in the premise itself; it was ENTIRELY in the execution by the writer that the last 50 issues sucked so hard.

What I find amusing is that Lindsey is starting to feel like she's what 80's cartoon Baxter Stockman was. Except she's a spider and on Old Hob's side. This almost makes Old Hob feel like he's going to be something like the new Shredder in a way.

I'm glad Old Hob is getting some attention again and got the mutanimals back together. Excited to see where this is going.

I think... they're kind of defeating the purpose of what a Vol. 2 clean break is supposed to offer and do in a situation like this.

Old Hobs is a very compelling character that I would love to see in other media like TV or movies.

As far as I feel IDW TMNT is just Tom Waltz. Everyone else - Burnham, Campbell, Aaron - are just props to stretch the dope. So Aaron and Eastman are there for marketing. Really good stories came and will come only from the feather of Waltz.

We haven't seen what Jason Aaron will bring to the table yet, I'm not sure why you're writing him off. For all we know the next 50 issue (?) run could be IDW's best yet.

He has wrote the first story in Alpha, and I didn't like it...
Nothing personal :tgrin:
