Don’t know if it’s true or not. It was apparently leaked by the same guy who released a bunch of TMNT covers before.

Only a couple of titles. Gatchaman just started an American comic book series. In the 90’s Dark Horse did 7 really ****** Digimon comics that just poorly adaptatrd the first few episodes. Idw Did do Yokai watch. And there was a very short lived Cyborg 009 comic.

Yeah it seems something that is kinda rare. Otherwise you'd see American takes on Dragon Ball Z or Sailor Moon or other big 90's anime and that's never happened.

Given this is on a Russian fansite are you sure this isn't another fan comic?

If the cover is anything to go by? Yes, that is a location in Naruto's world. And I don't think these will be versions of the Turtles native to that world either because they would barely be the Ninja Turtles in that case.

Naruto is a manga series by Masashi Kishimoto and it was published from 1999 to 2014, though a sequel series is still in publication. The premise is that in a fantasy world in which Ninja are employed for various tasks, a village was once attacked by demonic fox and Naruto (the main character of the series) had this demon sealed inside him by his father when he was just an infant. Because of this event, most of the villagers fear him and avoid him at all cost, thus he is trying to become the main ninja of the village to prove he's worth something. Then there is also a bunch of stuff about secret societies, conspiracies, genetic superpowers, ancient warlords and aliens from the moon but that's a little too complicated to explain.

The crossover is likely justified because both franchises are ostensibly about Ninjas but includes a bunch of other craziness, meaning it's not too far fetched for a crossover. It's also important to note that Naruto is a really big franchise, like huge, like in the top ten best selling comics of all time.

I haven't read the whole thing but it should be obvious he is just A villain in the series, he's not THE villain of the series in the same way one might consider Shredder.
In case you're wondering, the true main villain makes use of a series of proxy villains up until the end, but Orochimaru is not one of them.

While I expect characters like Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang to show up, I would prefer it if they didn't and it instead focused on characters like Shredder and Karai.

It's weird this opens the floodgates for more TMNT/anime crossovers. Granted I don't think it can happen due to the license holders with Viz/Toei, so no Dragon Ball or Sailor Moon for sure. Anything else is unlikely too, given that most manga doesn't have Americanized adaptions.

They still need to get Marvel to come aboard though. A TMNT and X-men crossover is LONG overdue, by about 20 years. Same with Daredevil and Spider-man.

Do you guys think Turtles will be transported to Naruto universe in this crossover?

Probably. Part of the Naruto setting is summoning awakened animals (I think from another universe" so it would make sense if it was something like that.

Considering the setting and the probable desire for multiple cross overs and the cover I will make these predictions...

1. Orochimaru will be the main villian from Naruto side as he was the big bad around that time. He will copy whatever jutsu was used to summon the turtles.

2. Naruto will be fkin around during training summoning his frog buddies and will summon the turtles.

3. There will be the obligatory 'friends'. Shikamaru will be Donnies, Choji will be Mikies, Sasuke will be Raph and Naruto will be Leos.

4. Possible April being Sakuras. This looks pre-her becoming a complete badass training under Tsunade so...April learns some more ninja healing from her?

5. It would be really cool (I don't think it will happen but I can hope) that Orochimaru summons dead splinter to fight the Turtles.

6. Villians will probably be composed of Shredder, Orochimaru, Shikotsumyaku, Kabuto and generic ninjas (sound ninjas).

I've never watched Naruto so I'm indifferent on this. But a lot of the other crossovers made more sense:

- Ghostbusters = both 80's properties
- Stranger Things = Set in the 80's
- Batman = huge comic book franchises and popular at the same time as TMNT
- Street Fighter = huge in the 90's and Capcom has crossover fighting game series
- Usagi Yojimbo = this one is obvious
- Power Rangers = both popular in the early 90's

Naruto on the other hand began in the 2000's, well after TMNT's heydey. So other than both focusing on ninja's, they don't really have much in common. On top of that it's the only anime property of all the crossovers.

The only way western comics are going to get anywhere close to manga sales is if they do crossovers. Probably the smartest business move they can make. At worst it'll probably sell well enough to garner a profit. At best it can bring over a larger (previously manga-only) reader-base into TMNT comics.

I'm actually very surprised that with the recent crossovers the turtles have been getting that this is one that felt right up their alley for a long time that I forgot about it.

What's more, if there is a manga crossover series featuring ninja magic for the turtles, this is it.

What I personally want, though, and i wish IDW could hear me on this: Make it so that Shredder, Karai and Alopex are the ninja villains. Don't even need Alopex to turn into the good guys, she's just flat out the bad guy in this one. Have Kurama scare the crap out of her. You got an opportunity to have a real fox ninja on someone's team: This is it.

The series is basically a coming of age story for Naruto. He wants to be Hokage, which is the ruler of all the ninjas in the Leaf village.

I haven't watched in since high school, but what made Naruto popular growing up is it didn't shy away from all the dark elements of growing up and the fact that ninjas are tools of war. even their school doesn't shy away that ninjas can die during exams.

What's very surprising about this crossover is that this is 'indeed' no doubt the best Manga adaption the turtles can be adapted into about a ninja coming of age story. I doubt they will keep this one going for more than five issues, but the potential of this crossover is insane.

I also read they got the manga writer himself, Masashi Kishimoto, involved. He retired from the series back in 2020 after he finished the series, so it's interesting how he will put his spin in the series.

I'm actually planning on giving this series a shot now that I read up about all of this. What's also surprising is it looks like Alopex will be back to being a villain with Shredder like at the beginning of IDW and his lead henchwoman, which, in my opinion, means she's likely going to be the main enforcer for Shredder. It would've been in my opinion an incredible missed opportunity to not have a ninja fox in a setting where a 9 tailed fox spirit that resides in Naruto was not present, and also reinforces the idea that ninja foxes are insanely popular in ninja folklore.

Well now they got my attention. Shame her outfit is closer to the ****** cartoon abomination they called "Alopex". Not that I was expecting her to go pantsless in the crossover, but I probably would have rather the kunoichi outfit she briefly wore when she got the green bandana in the comic.

Not really, this is likely another non-canon crossover. Might be fun but don't expect it to tie in with the IDW storyline.

non-canon, yes, but it can still spread awareness if done correctly.

Just have her be a badass and watch her popularity go up.

Theory is going around because of IDW’s connection with Toho as they did films for Naruto/Sueisha.

Okay, but do you think this means Orochimaru will also be in this comic? Also Naruto has vision of nine tailed fox when he saw Alopex probably because she is also a fox

Orochimaru does seem like he'd be interested in the ooze but it's hard to tell from a wordless preview. As for Kurama, that's always a bit of a nagging presence for him, it would likely have shown up regardless of Alopex.

The first 6 pages i saw were fully translated.

Team 7 has to guard April O'Neil (Who came from her own 'ninja village' called... Big Apple Village, lol.) because she's trying to learn more about Baxter Stockman's Ooze. However, the group is jumped by Alopex and wants them to hand over April.

The page ends with Team 7 looking ready to fight Alopex and the Foot, but not before Kurama calls her "A one tailed fox fake". Hoping to see more of this kind of banter.

Got my copy on Kindle. It was pretty good.

They appear to be using the same story telling they used with Batman, but using a different art direction and shonenifying the turtles.

the art style in this i really liked, but one thing that bugged me is the powers used by Team 7. They appear to have the superpower lottery on their side, despite consistencies when they learned them, but: Kakashi just uses his sharigan to pull off the Yamato's masks and that's it.

New issue's out. Mostly focusing on the TMNT side of things and April's backstory and Splinter's and the Foot's history. Naruto plays the NES, which i found amusing.

My thoughts: They seem to be building up Alopex as a major threat, despite having little screentime. Though I hope it pays off. She seems to be her original pre-foot version where she's completely loyal to the foot and Shredder seems to trust her completely. My guess is she's going to be fighting Team Kakashi in the end with Shredder fighting the TMNT crew.

Kinda odd for a four issue (I guess?) crossover series to focus almost half of its page count on a revised origin story for the TMNT, but I did find it a somewhat interesting new twist, with Saki being a troubled youth raised in New York, instead of Japan. Curious what the dynamic is between the Turtles and this April O'Neil since it seems like they only recently met.

Issue 2 and in a typical crossover comic I think the series is fine. Two major problems

1. We spend way too long on explaining the origins of the Turtles. I would okay if the differences of these turtles were significantly different than the typical turtles. I meean there should have been some Naruto elements in their origin story. Not saying like Ooze needed to be a by product of Orochimaru’s experiments, but give me something. Which leads to the second point.

2. The fact that the characters bonding was cut down to a single page collage. Characters interacting is the most significant part of a crossover and to see it get skipped is a crime. Shorten the origin a couple of pages of give it to this.

I read #2 last night and thought it was good. I like that they’re playing around with the origin and fitting TMNT into Naruto’s world rather than your standard dimensional portal. Also really liked Shredder’s design.

This would actually be a fun ongoing, hopefully it gets a sequel at least.

New issue came out today. Still great artwork.

What bothers me though is that there really isn't much 'ninja'ing going on in general with this comic. It's just punching and kicking. Sure, they had Kakashi and Leonardo pull off a lightning blade, but everyone else is just being pretty much fists and feet. also bothers me they didn't decide to use original characters for the mutagen, just foot soldiers.

Alopex again doesn't do anything but act shocked. I still see some build-up for her, but i'm afraid it doesn't seem to be paying off since it's so focused on the TMNT and Naruto gang. Have to hope the finale turns this around.

She still has one more chance to be used at this point, but i'm convinced she's just being used to fit the narrative. I want to see a Kumara/Alopex power combo at least on Shredder.

Eh, if they were gonna do some twist, this would have been the issue to do it. If there's only one more issue left, there's not enough time for anything satisfying regarding her.

Finally got caught up. I loved the first two issues but I felt the story really lost steam with this one. It all just feels too rushed, like they barely cared when they came home to find Splinter and April abducted. “Darn, the Foot found our lair. Bummer” basically.

Also felt like the Foot Enforcers should have been turned into some kind of interesting animals. The colorful generic monsters felt wasteful. Also lame to rush into super Shredder like that.

Hopefully they stick the landing. And if not, I still hope for a sequel series. Plenty of potential here.

Finished the series. for a series with so much potential, I feel like they haven't done much with it. I hope they do expand on this if they consider taking this more seriously, but when the comics are just about putting Team 7 and TMNT Vs. Shredder, it feels like alot of missed opportunities.

What baffles me the most is they introduced Alopex as someone who was smart and threatening, but ends up just switching sides and saving Splinter and April and joining the sidelines as the TMNT and Team 7 fight Shredder. Granted, at the time of typing this i remember her doing that when the TMNT fought Shredder in the IDW comics, but to just have her spying and switching sides feels like a sideline technique. Have her at least fight Sakura, even. At least she finally, canonically, eats pizza at the pizza party. Loved that.

As for the story itself, Shredder stealing power since he was a bum is interesting, but feels like something that pretty much most anime villains do. Guess they are going with that cliche with him in this crossover, but what does annoy me the most though is the comic heavily felt like forcing the confrontation between Naruto and Shredder like that was the basis of this comic. I personally felt like there were many other better ways to do this, but they chose to have the lead of the crossover fight Shredder and end it there. Guess they were trying to invoke the hype that Batman/Shredder got. I'm also surprised Kumara didn't do much other than tempt Naruto with his power, but they never really interacted with him much in Naruto now that i recall. hoped for a change of pace here.

Yeah I agree… not great. It started strong but #3 lost momentum and I felt like the dialogue was pretty annoying in #4. And yeah the Alopex setup ending up being a nothing-burger was weird.

I did kind of like the parallel of this Shredder being an orphan, just like Naruto. But it also didn’t really go anywhere.

I liked that Saki was beheaded, but wtf was that? And of course they didn’t definitively kill him because they’re banking on a sequel :eye roll:

As much as this let me down, I’d still be interested in more. I’d like to get to know more about Big Apple Village and see some other TMNT staples next time.

speaking of the Big Apple Village, would've made more sense to me if Konohagakure had a sewer linked to New York instead. However, i can forgive this one because they wanted the TMNT to have their own share of the Naruto universe.

Finally read this one (picked up the trade yesterday) and I have thoughts. For context, Naruto is my #1 fandom/nerd-thing/whatever. I love every nook and cranny of the whole dadgum franchise, whereas with the Turtles my passions lie with specific eras/versions.
That being said, there's a lot I like about this crossover, and some of the things I don't like are more nitpicky things from being such a Naruto fan.

PROS -
1. Incorporating the TMNT into the Naruto world, rather than vice versa. This was one thing I was concerned about as soon as this was announced, and I never would've bothered to read it if the Naruto characters showed up in *actual* New York City.
2. The turtles' designs, with the Anbu masks and the subtle incorporation of more Naruto-ish flair, really made them feel like part of the world.
3. Flashbacks/references to Kakashi's younger days (he's my favorite character so I'm admittedly biased) and having him be the one with know-how on Hamato Yoshi and the Foot.
4. The combination jutsu between Squad 7 and the turtles at the end made my lil eight-year-old dork heart happy. Sure, it was corny. But it was also rad.

CONS (NON-NITPICKS) -
1. The story felt too big for only four issues. Sure we got all the relevant character information, they got to meet/get to know each other/team up, but it felt like the whole thing could've been slowed waaayyy down and given room to breathe.
2. In the same vein as #1, the book gives us absolutely no reason to care about Alopex, and i think it expects us to carry knowledge and context for her over from the main IDW book. The problem with that is, I don't know a lot about her IDW counterpart and have no emotional attachment to her whatsoever. Really wish this book would have made me care about her.
3. Dialogue for dialogue's sake. There's multiple panel sequences where characters are just talk-talk-talking. It's a comic. Let the art do more for the story (this point also goes with my pacing concerns, and is a criticism I have with a lot of modern comics).

CONS (NITPICKS) -
1. Character names. In the original Naruto manga, the characters use the Surname-first configuration (Uzumaki Naruto). They don't in this, which would be fine if they didn't stick with Oroku Saki and Hamato Yoshi. Drives me absolutely nuts.
2. Big Apple Village. I get it, it's a joke. But all the villages in Naruto end with the -gakure suffix (for Village-Hidden-in-the____) and it just bugs me that Big Apple bucks the trend.

Sorry for the long post, I typed way more than I set out to. But those are my thoughts.
