i've recently re-read my old mirage trade paperbacks by FIRST comics, and REALLY enjoyed them. i have a few questions.... are the issues in the FIRST tpb's in order (1-4, 5-9, etc....) i finished up the fourth book last night, and i would love to buy the issues that finished up that storyline, which issues would those be? would that be the RETURN TO NEW YORK storyline, or is that different? i also plan on picking up the zulli drawn issues, so if anyone has those and they're looking to unload them, just let me know. :)

There are few stories that take place in Northampton, but if you want to straight to Return to NY, they are issues 19-21.

Here's what the First Graphic Novels contain . . .

Book I - issues 1, 2, 3
Book II - issues 4, 5, 6
Book III - issues 7,8,9
Book IV - Leonardo one-shot, issues 10, 11

I don't know why, but the First Graphic Novels don't include the other TMNT solo one-shots, even though Raphael came out between issues 3 and 4 AND fits into the storyline between them. Also, Michaelangelo came out between 5 and 6 and Donatello came out between 7 and 8.

They probably didnt disclude the other three one-shots as much as they were *forced* to include the Leonardo one seeing as how Issue 10 makes *no* sense without it.

The Raph solo is nice for continuity's sake, and realy it does help you understand who the hell the nutcase is that steps in to help the guys and April, but the other two are really one-off one-shots that don't add anything to the storyline at hand. They're integral for a collection of the entire series, but not to get you through that first storyarc.

As far as Return to New York, there's about 7 issues in between, at least 5 of them are in continuity, and a year does pass between 11 and 19, when the turtles go back. Sadly, that's the end of fluid continuity until Issue #45, when things start moving toward City at War.

::begin memory resurgence:: The first time I read the early Mirage issues was in the graphic novels, and when Raphael acted like he knew Casey I was wondering what I missed..Then when I heard there was a Raphael one-shot I actually tried to order it thru Mirage's original address....I of course got my mail returned...hah stupid kid ::end memory resurgence::

But that's also the case with TMNT #s 8 and 9, and at least the micro-series had art by Eastman and Laird, as opposed to #9 (Michael Dooney). That's all!
