Venus debuted in IDW TMNT in #127. And by issue #150 she was killed off and sent to the afterlife. So in a little over 20 issues span (and she didn't appear in all the issues between 127-150 either, so in reality it's even less), they introduced her and killed her off in a 23 issue span.

Granted I had no interest in Venus sticking around anyway, but it's funny to me they introduced her, gave her a pretty unique backstory, made her better than the Next Mutation version ever was...and then kill her off by 20ish issues later. I honestly liked her more in those few issues than I liked Jennika in the last 50+ issues.

Within the first 21 issues of Mirage TMNT Oroku Saki was killed off, resurrected, then killed again.

She is better than Jennika, but if that mean having to take away IDW Leo's mysticism stuffs, and make him even more useless for the rest of the story.

Yeah but this was back in the days of a single issue telling a whole story. Now a single issue is like a 5 minute read and you need 4-5 floppies to get an actual story told.

Yeah, there is a huge difference there, I agree. The original issue of Mirage was more or less intended to be a oneshot, the clone did not show up until ten issues in, several issues before the second death weren't part of canon or experimental and the death issue could have been the canonical ending of the series. There simply wasn't much guarantee the series would continue for as long as it did.

By comparison, IDW had since long surpassed Mirage by issue count and released issues on a monthly schedule. So introducing a character just to kill her off within less than two years of publication is strange.

Then again, when we're talking about this particular character, I don't see why I should care. It was a terrible revision made in a terrible run, of an already terrible character from a terrible TV show nobody wanted to remember. It's not like anyone would want her around anyway.
