Had no issues at all today. I wonder what happened, and I wonder how it got fixed. It's like there isn't anyone around to fix any major server issues if something big were to get broken.

It's clearly on the domain/host's side. It has nothing to do with Krang or anything on his computer at home. All he'd need to do is open a ticket with them and they'd be able to troubleshoot it or throw their hands up and go "idk" which is usually how it goes with the vBulletin sites I run when there's service issues.

I did a Whois search and it looks like the Drome is hosted by Dynadot.com. You might be able to register as a user there and open a support ticket under the "Support" tab but they'll probably only help you if you're Krang.

Still a thing... Got the error as soon as I tried to pull up the site now and still being lagging.

Yeah but all that is assuming that Krang either has the time to do so or even cares to do so.

For the last couple of days it's been logging me out after a few minutes (as it does occasionally) but it seems to be working today.

Where should we all meet up if the site goes under? Andrew’s forum? The discord? Any ideas?

Get krang on the phone and either fix it/upgrade vbulleten or close this site down I’ve been trying all day to get on

I never had any problems, except the September 2018 incident, until early June 2025. Now, I suddenly experience problems almost daily.

The ordinary Technodrome website is still working, at least for me. It's just the community that gets worse and worse for each day passing.

Might be time to say goodbye, guys. Those were some interesting 22 years. :)

I'm sure it will differ from day to day until the final crash.

Today I'm once again having to log in every few minutes.

Bleh, so far I'm fine, but just showed up, so looking at the thread has probably jinxed me.

Though I've noticed some lag here and there in the past few days or so.

Hi everyone, the forums should be a lot more stable moving forward. The database errors that have been showing up lately were caused by a massive flood of increased bot traffic that has been pretty much constant over the past several months. Since our host gives us a limited number of simultaneous database connections, all that traffic was using up all the available connections, leading to the errors.

Although our forum software is old, there's nothing particularly unstable about it, and it is not the cause of any of our recent problems. It was actually very resilient against the huge amount of traffic! :)

To solve the problem, I tried applying some IP range blocks last month, but they were only temporarily effective, since it seems the bots change IPs every so often. As a more permanent solution, I set up Cloudflare a couple days ago and applied some rules there, and it seems to be working well so far.

If you take a look at the number of guests online, that's an indication of how hard the bot traffic is hitting. We would usually have around 10,000 guests at any given time, and I would start to see database errors when we reached about 15,000 guests. There was even a new record of over 22,000 set a few days ago. After setting up Cloudflare, I'm usually seeing around 400-900, which is a huge improvement.

Don't worry, the forums are not in any danger of closing. Even if I'm not posting as often as I used to, I'm still taking care of things behind the scenes (as time allows). I also was finally able to finish processing the huge registration queue (which had nearly 3500 signups, but over 90% were bots) so that the new members who have been waiting can finally post. To our new members: Welcome, and very sorry it took so long!

Thank you for showing up. I thought the commlink between Earth and Dimension X ceased to operate years ago. :)

Internet communities are superior to social media, and we need them more than ever. Here, we focus on the written words, not the writer.

Thanks for the update on the situation and your work to try to wrangle it back under control!

Ouch. Kinda makes me glad for the approval process that at least keeps the spam out (unless an account gets hacked, albeit rarely).

Oh wow the first Krang post in years. So that'll end speculation. He is busy with life to even see what's going on in the forums (I'm sure he would've nuked the Current Events section). But he still checks the site on the backside.

Well that explains why it took so long for me to get approved! I appreciate the update.

As for current events, it can't really be helped. For better or for worse, the current events are the current events.

A lot of the pictures on here have, for the last few days, been saying 'content not viewable in your region' (including, it seems, my signature).
Edit: apparently it's because the pictures are on Imgur, which is currently blocked in the UK.
