This may sound weird but sdp asked me to ban him for a month because he wanted to limit his time online. I didn't see any harm with the idea and went ahead with it.
So, for clarity's sake, he is not actually banned and if anyone wants to take a break for a while, here's the place to ask for it.

What am I ever going to do without sdp :(

He’s gooning for a month straight isn’t he?

That's nuts. But I think I understand his premise. And I think I respect it.

Absolutely. It's not a bad idea.

So I'm guessing the idea is that he doesn't trust his own willpower to just stay away for a while?

I thought the same thing. "Just avoid this toxic $#!(hole on your own accord".
I do it all the time. It ebbs and flows.

The toxicity has gone way down though.

sdp leaving is a tragedy because now we don't have proper black female representation.
We can't expect ssjup81 to be online & posting all the time.

I mean, he could have just not logged in for a month or so. I've always taken some sabbatical from this place throughout the years and never even came across my mind to ask a mod to ban me for a whole month. Sounds like he's addicted or something.
Anyway, there used to be another forum I posted on when I was younger that was highly active. Some people were definitely addicted to it, and occasionally one of them would just break the rules on purpose in order to get themselves banned. A few even posted porn gifs for that effect. Which made the mods groan and tell them "please don't do that." So let's all be glad sdp did not choose that path.

He should have posted Goatse. Sad!

My point above as well...
The toxicity has gone way down though.
Even if that's true, the point still stands either way. Asking to be banned so as not to log in is just more strange behavior I'd expect from the people of the Technodrome forums.

I remember back on IGN people asked to be banned for 1 week or 1 month all the time. Forum addiction used to be the previous thing before social media addiction was a thing.

Hey, I think it's weird as well but on the other hand, I'm all about spending less time online so if someone thinks they need help with that why not?

In recent days I've actually reached out to sdp to talk. An olive branch, as it were. He accepted. Tried to talk to him just man to man. He did. It was actually as I was typing out a response to him that the Drome forums told me "You can't respond to someone who isn't active." All was well, now this.
idk. Maybe what's going on in the world now maybe made it hard for him to not be sdp lately without retreading some old territory. Not putting words in his mouth or anything -- I'd sure hate for someone else to do that to me. But I do respect it. But I will say I do miss his posts. When he makes good posts, he really does.

Just for transparency's sake, this was his initial message about his time-out:
Hey,
I sometimes spend too much time here because I post out of habit. Would it be possible for you to ban me for a month so I break out of the habit?
I don't want to be permanently banned since I do enjoy discussing TMNT and looking at older topics. But besides that I'd rather not post as much.
Thanks in advance!
It sounds very casual to me, not like he was questioning his existence or anything.

It’s not the same here anymore. Does anyone know any fat black ladies we could invite here to repair the vibe?

I was precisely referring to IGN Boards when I gave examples of that lol  Those forums used to be very active, especially the top 10 most active forums back in the 2000s. Lots of people were addicted.

Funnily enough, it seems like everyone is taking sdp‘s example to take a break themselves.

Ever work in fast food? I've been addicted to the food at McDonald's ever since I started working there back in 2018! Old habits are very hard to break sometimes!

The ban is lifted. Are you ok sdp?

I understand that completely.
But I'm also very much so an 85% "internal locus of control" kind of guy, so......
Hey guys, i'm back.
