Is it from Palladium’s TMNT Guide to the Universe, or did the 2012 show introduce it?

As far as I know, it's from the 2012 show. And I don't know which game book would be describing him, but a PDF I found of the first edition does not describe him at all... Though it does introduce characters named "Chirp Yenko", "Gorba Chirp" and "Fred Hamster"... Hm...

Anyway, I could have once sworn he was named "Archibald" in the 2003 show at some point but when I rewatched it a while back, I noticed his first name was never mentioned. As far as I can actually tell, the 2012 show really is the first time he ever had a first name at all, the closest is "Chet" in IDW and that one was clearly an alias.

Oh, and if you're making this thread because of the recent Tales issue depicting him as a human with seemingly no alien connections, yes, it's really weird that he has a name like "Zayton" under those circumstances.

Haven't gone back to look for it, but I have 2003's Fugitoid voice in my ear introducing himself as "Zayton Honeycutt." I wanna say that it's during the world at war story arc after the Triceratons leave Earth. But I've been wrong before.

The Worlds Collide three-parter? No, that never happens in those specific episodes, he's only ever referred to as Honeycutt when an actual name is used rather than Fugitoid or Professor in those episodes. Maybe in some later episode he calls himself Zayton but not those three, and I can't recall that ever happening in that show.

You may be right. I can't seem to track it down, but I certainly hear it in my head. Oh well.

I thought it was something Ciro made up. I don't think I ever heard it before the 2012 show.

Yeah, I've been looking through as many PDFs of those game books that I can find and there is no reference to Honeycutt's full name, he doesn't even have a character description as far as I can find. I've even taken a look at the annotations in the UC and it's not there either. It really does seem like it originated in the 2012 show. Unless it's in the comic strip or some obscure piece of Mirage media IDW has yet to reprint, I don't really think I'm going to find any pre-existing piece of media in which he had that name.

How did the OP question start? Did someone claim it came from the game?

Well you read my mind with your first post. I was thinking about what a weird name “Zayton” was for a regular human.

As for the quoted post, I pulled out Palladium’s 2025 updated books and they call him Zayton in those. He has a profile in the Utrom section of Guide to the Universe. I didn’t know if that was a new addition or reprinted from the original, but thanks to your research I’m going to say it was new and the 2012 show is what started it. (I also pulled out the Fugitoid Micro IDW did in 2012 and he’s not named. Even his wife awkwardly avoids addressing him by name.)

Someone could ask Ciro at a con or something.

Yeah, the edition here seems to be from 1987 and he's only called Honeycut (misspelled) in that section.

I think the Tales issue could probably have called him "Chet Allen Honeycutt" in reference to his fake human name in IDW, you know, if he's going to be reimagined as an earthling anyway.

Good idea. “Chet” would have made way more sense.

Zayton was a word uttered by a River Tribe that lived in a Space Jungle.

I have no clue what that means, Google AI seems to think it's a reference to Avatar but the logic there seems like crap, none of the major tribes in those movies lived by a river.

Anyway, does anyone like the name "Zayton"? I'm not against it in general (aside from this particular reimagining of him as an earthling) but I'm just OK with it. He's an alien so he has alien sounding name, I get that and I really don't have that much of an objection to it other than it doesn't seem like it fits when attached to "Honeycutt". And weirdly enough, it's more fitting for the IDW version who is a Neutrino who in turns have names like Gizzla and Dask, as opposed to a D'Hoonibian (which he is in the 2012 show) who have names like Johnson and Fredericks... No seriously, even in the the Utrom Empire trade from 2014 with the Fugitoid issue reprinted, they have names like Johnson and Fredericks.

... Maybe Chet is a more fitting name for him general, now that I think about it...

We’re joking about one of his all-time bangers from a thread where he teamed up with cybercubed to give me an aneurysm and get me banned  :https://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showpost.php?p=1675321&postcount=12

But, yeah… “Zayton”… I think he definitely needs a first name, but I don’t really care for that one. Sounds too much like satan lol
