1987 five part miniseries mandela effect memory (maybe)

I'm bored so I'll bring this up.

I seem to remember when I was a kid that the five-part mini series seemed to be a bit different to the version that airs on MeTV Toons and on the DVDs, these days.

- There are episode title screens on the present editions where there were none on the original broadcast versions.
- The background music plays at a slower tempo on the present versions than on the original broadcast versions.
- Some of the animation is different or has been corrected for the present editions. For example, in "Enter The Shredder", when the Turtles were about to get crushed by the closing walls in the Technodrome, the walls were moving away from them instead of moving closer in the original broadcast version. This seems to have been been corrected for the present editions.

Am I the only one that remembers this?!

If we're talking about current broadcast versions and the old DVDs, then it should be possible to make a direct comparison to wee if it's true. I already know there have been some things going on with the Yotube release of the show since Paramount acquired it, like literally replacing the intro music with an obvious cover, so I can believe these differences are real. I just don't care enough to make the direct comparison myself.

While we're talking about the DVDs, I swear whoever did the season 2 episode Splinter No More messed up the scene where Splinter interupts Shredder's incantation to open the portal to Dimension X!

Once they hit syndication and reruns, the episodes now had title cards. That's where the titles like 'Turtles Tracks' and 'A Thing About Rats' came from.

Edit- no wait, now I remember the first time we saw titles for those episodes were they came out on VHS. Syndication would mostly rerun season 2 and 3 eps until eventually it would start throwing the first 5 eps into the mix.

I remember only Turtle Tracks not having an opening title card, but that was it. The US stations aired all episodes, but the station I watched in Canada skipped Turtle Tracks and The Maltese Hamster and a few others for sure. And once the out of order synducated eoisodes came into play, it also skipped "Enter The Shredder" as well.

Yea the audio and video don't quite match up the moment Splinter shouts at Shredder.

Some of you guys need to provide video clips of what you're talking about, because this all sounds very strange. Animation does not change (especially for episodes made 30 years ago now!), and the eps are uncut on the DVDs.

And by the way, Animation CAN and DOES change over the years

Transformers is another example. The DVDs released by Rhino had episodes with unfinished Animation. When Shout Factory re-released the series years later, they used the (mostly) original broadcast versions with fixed animation.

Splinter no more was the first episode I ever saw, on its original airing. While I seem to remember that weird offset of Splinter’s voice from the beginning, I don’t have my original recording anymore to confirm. The internet archive has some early airings from 1988 complete with bumpers and commercials, so maybe there’s a clue there.

Those are only season 2 episodes so they can't help me

Another example of this: in the Real Ghostbusters episode "Killerwatt", the original broadcast version didn't have an episode title card. They added one in when they reaired the episode.

And in TMNT 2003 (2003) in Same As It Never Was, future Raph's right eye was sewn shut when it first aired on Cartoon Network but when it aired on 4Kids TV, it was his left.
