View Full Version : Has there ever been a TMNT story in which the Turtles met their namesakes?

Just thought of this cheesy idea and I wonder if it has ever been done officially? Yeah, I know it's kinda lame but it's a more obvious thing to than put the turtles in high school. And yes, I know Donatello died before Leonardo was old enough to have a career and before the other two were even born, but obviously time travel would have to be involved anyway.

I'm surprised this hasn't been done before. Yeah it'd be corny but TMNT has done really corny stuff in the past.. we've had the easter bunny, hitler, the archies, THE Dracula, godzilla, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully of the X-Files, they've travelled to various times in the past including multiple times to feudal japan, the wild west, prehistoric times. They've gone to flippin' High School with humans. I mean why not meet their namesakes?

I'm not sure there's a time all of their namesakes are alive at once...unless the artists get pulled to present day New York.

Donatello (1386 – 1466)
Leonardo da Vinci (1452 – 1519)
Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475 – 1564),
Raphael (1483 – 1520)
You've got 3 out of 4, but Donatello was dead before Michelangelo & Raphael ever picked up a brush or chisel.

(EDIT: I need to read the full opening post BEFORE I reply, huh?)

Huh, forgot about that one. Maybe it's because way trippier stuff happens in that story or because it's not the focus?

Artless is the closest we really get to that; but that simply involves aliens coincidentally only after artworks by the Turtles' namesakes.

It could be a funny story. The turtles are struggling with a new enemy and Renet decides to help them by going back in time and bringing the ancient artists to the present to form a new team. I would like it to be set in the Mirage universe.

This thread is probably the most authentic, high-end story idea I've ever seen come about on this forum. It would make for a really fun story if leveraged correctly!

There ya go. Just use [ youtube ] [ /youtube ] brackets (without any spacing).

It’s amusing to me that Raphael Sanzio was born exactly 500 years before TMNT was created. Imagine taking some Mirage comics in a Time Machine and showing any of these dudes lol.

So why in the hell does every FAQ I find tells me I need to put the whole thing in for it to work?

Seriously, I used to be pretty computer savvy, but there’s a reason I’ve gone more analog as time goes on. I don’t have the time or money to relearn HTML.

Say what you will, but when the zombies come…

*sigh*

Early millennial, actually. Although I’ve been hearing that younger people like zoomers and Generation Alpha have been eschewing digital media and social media.

It’s like they want to actually own what they buy and… go outdoors?

It's always bothered me that they took 3 artists who were active at the same time and knew each other (heck, Leonardo and Michelangelo even had an unfriendly rivalry!), but then randomly had one from before them. Sure, they were all renaissance artists, but it would've been more fitting to have a contemporary of the other three. Oh well, it's far past the time such a change could be made, but it'll always cause mild annoyance to me.
