Does anyone know what the main theme (not the Partners In Kryme song) is called, and where I could obtain a copy of it or mp3? The one I'm referring to is the music that plays during Splinter's story of the origin, and also at the start of the movie when the logo appears as they walk through the sewers.
Also, does anyone have an mp3 of Splinter's Tale? It was the bside to the Partners In Kryme record. I have the original LP but unfortunately have no way of recording it onto the computer as I no longer have a record player :(
Any help would be much appreciated :)

The theme music of the movie was titled "Turtle Rhapsody" and it was preformed by the Orchestra on the Half-Shell.
If you'd like some MP3s of the music, you can go to Mikey QM's Music Page (http://www.mikeystmnt.com/media/sounds/music.htm)

Don't let Jeph fool you, there're actually 2 different versions.
The one he mentioned uses different instruments and is at a higher note, and the CD version (there are 2 versions of this one alone) has movie clips inserted into it. Don't bother trying to find it on a P2P app, though, as you won't find it. Your best bet is either what Jephael suggested, IRC, or just finding the CD yourself (which I would not recommend since they're about as hard to find as a pro-choice Republican [WAS NOT MEANT AS A PERSONAL ATTACK]).
The specific one you're looking for, where the logo pops up at the beginning of the movie, damned if I know where you can get the original version of it!
The music that plays as Splinter is telling the origin story? Simple, it's called "Splinter's Story II", and in some versions both I and II are combined (the one I "obtained", for instance.).
Hope that helps.

It's not that hard. Well, it is hard to find it in the stores, but it's not online. I just got my copy of the CD today from an online store.

I must say I really like the score in the movie. Most scenes have just perfect BGM.

Getting a hold of Shredder's Suite is about the closest you'll get. You can download those from the link provided earlier in the thread.
Shredder's Suite has the music that plays when Shredder's on screen, when he's fighting the Turtles, and a few other parts of the movie.

Shredder's Suite is awesome, my favourite score track on the CD. I'm also crazy about the music that plays when the TMNTs return to NY from April's farmhouse...it's so perfect for that scene.
For songs I always liked MC Hammer's "This Is What We Do" best. "Let The Walls Come Down" is nice but I don't remember it being used anywhere in the movie?

Aside from what is on the soundtrack, the score was not released. I have no idea where you would find it.

Aside from what is on the soundtrack, the score was not released.Which is one of the biggest crimes against TMNT fans everywhere.
I guess we should feel relieved we got those tracks on the soundtrack.

.... just like the full GHOSTBUSTERS score wasn't released, but i have a copy on my desk. a friend of mine knows quite a few score composers that have worked on MANY big budget movies... though mostly of the horror genre. maybe he can somehow get in contact with du prez and get a copy of the TMNT score....

I've seen Bootlegged copies of the Ghostbusters score on eBay in the past but not for a VERY long time. Actually that's a score I'd desperately love to add to my CD collection. If anyone can help me get a copy can you PM me, please?

well, the GHOSTBUSTERS score cd you're talking about was released to the press in 84, and has ended up online for download as well as for sale on ebay from time to time. it's a good listen and great audio quality, but not quite complete. the version i have is the WHOLE score... including music replaced by the pop songs from the soundtrack. it's cool, but HORRIBLE audio quality.... tape hiss is bad. BOOOOOO!!!!!!
anyway, i'll keep you guys informed on my quest for the TMNT score.

I've heard there's a way you can record bg music from movies, like this that don't have official musical score sdtrks. Tho I dunno how to do it. I bet some ppl over in my old New Media dept. at my university would know. They're good with music and recording thru computer programs and other methods. I do wish John Du Prez would have released an original score sdtrk, that would have been awesome since I like the musical score even more than the songs (well alittle more). Gotta love that music in the opening scene!
