I bought the giant Mega Blok set with all four turtles at the Time Square Toys R Us. Great, great set, especially since the pieces match the Lego ones, too! I finished building the TMNT set, so I'm working on mixing it with some of my Lego Spider-Man set. :D
A few complaints tho: the Mega Blok set seems to LOVE using those thin, narrow pieces that are very difficult to pull off, even when they're absolutely unnecessary. There are quite a few places where they could've easily used a thicker piece that you can just pick off later. Also, altho it was cool that they included a sheet of stickers to stick onto little set props, some of the smaller props weren't one piece (meaning you needed 2 or more little pieces to build them) and so the stickers will overlap the pieces and force you to NOT take them apart. Dumb idea. Finally, the set came together fine, but you can still see minute unevenness between the surfaces of matched pieces, and so Mega Bloks don't seem to be of as high a quality as Legos. Minor problem, tho, since all of the pieces still matched together.
The figures were easily the best part of the set. I don't know what the other sets are called, but this is the "Combat Lair" with ALL FOUR turtles, the Shredder, and 2 foot soldiers. I also saw 2 other smaller sets with 2 turtles each, but I opted for the bigger one. Bonus: the set was on sale for $23 plus tax. The Lego Spidey set was $35 when I bought it. Anyway, the figures had nice details, including soft bendable bandanas and sculpted shoulders and biceps on the turtles. For those of you with weird imaginations, yes, the body parts are swappable with those made by Lego.
The set was a lot of fun and I was surprised with all the stuff it had. Notable parts were: a swinging barrel, ooze tub with 2-way opening sewer cap to pour the ooze through, a turtle go-kart, plenty of stickers, color-matching weapons for all the turtles, and a complete fighting (boxing) ring with vibrating top. One thing about the ring: the vibrating top is supposed to get the figures to imitate fighting, but they really only just...vibrate, so they actually just look funny. The vibration is loud, too. After 2 pulls on the string, I stopped using it.
All in all, a great set. Must-have for any Lego and TMNT fan. The set's pretty interactive, more so than my Lego Spidey set, and cheaper, too! so whip out your old pieces and have a blast!
