Old show dvd out on 04/04

"Matt R. sent in this repsonse that he got from Artisan Home Entertainment regarding his inquiry about DVD releases of the orignal TMNT cartoon:

"Thank you for your letter expressing interest in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You will be happy to know that we are planning to release the original episodes on DVD in April 2004. Thank you again for your interest in Artisan Home Entertainment."

I'll believe this when I see it. That's what being cynical can sometimes do for you. Whenever I get my hopes up about something, they're always dashed to pieces. So I am going to forget about this DVD business.

For me I'm still a begginer in the old TMNT cartoon. But a DVD of the first season would be good to get, specially for some people like me who never did learn much of the classic or remenber any good episodes.

I have memories of the old show, but some of it is still fuzzy.

But i'll know the classic more than ever when this DVD will come out.

I'll wait until there's more info.

"The Epic Begins" is an edited down version of the first five episodes to make it into a 72 minute movie. They cut out an entire episode and several parts throughout the other four.

However I'll bet its still better than the Next Mutation "East Meets West" "movie" that Fox put out. The show itself wasn't horrid but the editing job just plain sucked! There was no consistancy and they cut out good parts from scenes without transistions so it was all choppy. Infact it was REALLY choppy.

I think that's the same version as we got on the swedish release of the show (7 disc, random episode order and horrible dubbing) and I hate to spoil any dreams here but the edited version sucks bigtime compared to th non-edited episodes.

Hehe, yeah we got those too over here. 7 discs dubbed in either: Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Finish.

It probably is "Epic begins". It has been known for a while that they would release it sometime in 2004. I hope they would have come to their senses, but if not, I'm not going to pat for edited episodes. They could easily put all 5 episodes uncut on the disc.

It's purely a marketing ploy, I know, but sadly that's how it works in America, so I say stop bitching about it and support the release of whatever they release so that you CAN get the full series when the time comes.

I assumed they are the same DVDs that are sold in Finland, and the first DVD does not have 5 separate episode but 72 minute edited version of them. Same as the VHS back in the day.

The old show deserves uncut, season boxsets released and nothing less. I think they'd sell great too.

i haven't heard that but i'm almost sure its not worse than just any mexican dubbing, thats what we get here :|

I think they should release the entire old series catalogue on DVD. I mean, they did that with Transformers, so I don't see why not with TMNT.

All I can say is, it's about time they released the old cartoon on DVD. Practically every single other old cartoon has be released on DVD. From Transformers to GI Joe to Speed Racer, it's definitely about time that the classic Turtle cartoons made their comeback. I can't wait till April!

If you ever get a chance to, you should. Transformers was an amazing show. Top of the line 80's cartoon. I think they released the TF movie on DVD too.
