What's your opinion on the TMNT's looks and voices in the old toon, the anime toon, The Next Mutation and 2003?
Here's mine,
OLD TOON: As Laird says, the turtles looked too cute here, they're too chubby and don't look like they can hurt anyone. Plus I think the lettering on their belts was a bit childish. The voices don't work for me either, Mikey speeks with a dreadful drone of an American accent, Leo sounds a little too old, Raph's voice doesn't suit the character of a hothead, Don's voice is hard to explain, not really the voice I'd cast for a gadget-master. I know old toon bashing isn't allowed here, but what can I say? At too many times I wanted to cover my ears because the I couldn't stand the sound of the character's voices.
ANIME: Well the animation is a little sleeker than that of the old toon, but the turtles still look kinda puffy. Also I really hate it when the turtles transform, they look way too humanoid. As I don't speek Japanese, no coment on the voice actors.
THE NEXT MUTATION: While Splinter's costume could do better, I must say the turtle costumes really outdo the old toon characters, the muscles and abs make em look like they can hurt someone. Also, am I the only one who thinks Venus is very sexy? I like the NM turtle costumes, not sure sure about the head-bands though. As for the voices, well the voice of Splinter and Venus are the only ones I truely like, but Leo still sounds way too old for the part. Though the voices of Don, Mike and Raph seem to have improved.
THE NEW TOON: As a friend said at www.bondmovies.com the turtles look as though their on steroids. The darker, gangsta look really works in this new show, and I like how in the show the turtles don't have any pupiles or lettering. I think the new show has the best animation and character designs, and all the voices work for me, they chose some perfect voice actors. Leo sounds like his age.

I think the old toon voices were just right actually. But of course, it's all a matter of being used to them I suppose. Michaelangelo's voice is perfect, cause he's dumb and so is his slang/accent. Raphael isn't a hothead in the original show, so of course his voice doesn't match that personality. He just makes puns and wisecracks. Leonardo is the leader, and he rightfully sounds so, the most mature of them all. Donatello is just an ordinary voice, but with some emotional restraint in it and almost shyness, again, suiting his reclusive nature quite nicely. I think that's why those voices were chosen in the first place.

Ah, I can't complain about the old toons coz I'm too used to 'em. When I first heard them tho (well, second time really, first time being when I was 4, but cudn't remember) I thought Mikey's was way off... I was like, what the hell? But ya know, you get used to them, so I'm fine with the old toon.
The movies, well, I first saw the 3rd movie first, and got used to those voices (well, mike and Leo's were the same, and don's was the same as the 1st) but Raph's was better for his character in the 3rd I think, the other 2 sound like they have blocked up noises or somefing. Still, you get used to them. Appearance here, I thought the second movie's guys luked better (apart from Leo, he luked better in the first movie). Did they used the same 2nd movie Mike for the 3rd film? It luked like it, *shrug* dunno.
New Toon, voices fit the characters well. But I still think Raph's is a little too... dark.. for a 15 year old, but I like it. Their appearance was to get used to at first, seemed too broad, but they're great now.
TNM, pft, Leo did sound a little too old, but he acted like the youngest, and Venus might have sounded okay if she didn't speak, well, like she speaks. I think all the others were okay, 'cept Splinter's, he sounded real weird when he laughed :| And I hated his costume, his tail lifted his kimono up too high, lol, and his mouth was always open, he luked gormless (sp?). Raph's costume luked stoned all the time, I dunno how many times there was a full scene when his mouth was closed, but I'm guessing there weren't many; and when his eyes were fully open. And Leo was about a foot smaller than everyone else.

Raph's voice doesn't suit the character of a hothead
Maybe because Raph wasn't a hothead in the old show?
Also, am I the only one who thinks Venus is very sexy?
:o Freaky.
Never seen the anime, so I can't comment on that, but I like the old toon and new toon voices alot. Nothing about TNM was good

The one thing that bothers me from the start of the old cartoon is how dumber the Turtles get drawn as the show progresses. In the first five eps (not including "A Thing About Rats") they look pretty cool to me. But as we progress into eps further into the series, they look a little too kiddish. I'm such a long-time fan of the cartoon, the voices ARE the Turtles for me. I wouldn't have the voices of ANY character any other way. It's just me personally.

the old toon had good voices. Raphael wasn't meant to be a hothead, more of a wise guy and his voice was perfect for that kind of role. Michaelangelo's voice was cool because it just sounded cool. Leonardo's voice probably could've used some improvement, he did sound a little old. Donatello had a decent voice too.

Hmm.. well, I've never seen the anime, so I'm staying away from that. And I didn't see much of NM, so I'm staying out of that, too. The old cartoon... well, their voices fit, I think, for how they were. They were good for then.
The new voices... ah, now these are my favorite ones! I think each is perfect. I have a thing for voices, and these ones are all perfect.
I don't like new toon Raph's voice.
I love Raph's new voice, I find it sexy :goofygri:

This is the first incarnation of the TMNT that I really love Raph's voice. So I agree, I really like his voice, too.
And I like Mikey's. It fits him. But I also think Leo's voice is awesome in this new cartoon. He has a great voice. :)
But Donnie... ooohhh... His voice in this cartoon is perfect. *swoons* Talk about sexy... :D

Classic: can't remember much, but Raph's fit he was a smart ass
Move1: Perfect
Movie 2: Leo & Mike-perfect; Raph passable, Don good.
Movie3: Leo, Mike, Don Perfect, Raph:
TNM: I forgot but I kinda like Raph's appearance and voice.
2003: PERFECTO for the toon. Raph is perfect for this version. :goofygri:

The voices for the old TMNT which are Leonardo-leader like voice, Don-nerd like voice, Raph-alittle too non-stubern like, Mikey-Surfing voice.
I didn't see much of the old show so i don't know any good quotes they said in it.
I'm very connected with the new show's voices than the old show.
Frank Franksen is perfect for Raphel's role. :)

Old Toon: It differed a lot because it was rarely the exact same animation. I love the animation in the first episode and the fourth. That was the best style Toei did for the first 5 IMO. I also like how the turtles looked in the red sky episodes. The voices were perfect in the first five episodes and were excellent through most of the series. They will always be the turtles to me. I can't here Rob Paulsen and Cam Clarke without instantly thinking to myself... its LEO!or its RAPH!
Anime: Pretty cool to here Splinter and Shredder speak Japanese and the characters all seemed fine. Krang's voice was freak'n hillarious! So Japanesey... The animation was pretty cool. Toei helped again I think, but I could be wrong. The color were a bit bright but I'll be danged if I didn't think April was extra hot as an anime girl.
Next Mutation: The designs took a while to get use to and I hated that the mouths rarely moved (and never did in fights). The voices were pretty good overall. I liked Kirby Morrow's (Cyclops, Trowa Barton, and Miroku) take on Michaelangelo.
4kids series: It took a while to get use to them but right off the bat I noticed that they were quite similar to the movie voices. Mainly from the first movie but Don's sounded like TMNT II Don (not Corey Feldmen). I got use to them pretty quickly and now I love 'em. The animation in the new show is the best animated TMNT has ever looked. Dong Woo (pretty well known for shows such as He-Man: MOTU, Jackie Chan Adventures, Teen Titans, and other anime-esque series) did an excellent job with bringing a tougher looking team of turtles to life. As a 4kids exec said in an interview "They're still the same turtles, but they don't take no crap!" I have a special place in my heart for a variety of the old toons animations but overall the new TMNT has the finest animation in TMNT history.

For me, the new cartoon is like an animated version of the first movie (which I absolutely love) so I do prefer it to the old cartoon. I did like Raph's voice in the old one though, but the new toon voice suits the character better (and also they're different anyways).
I have to say though, there's only one person who can voice Donatello for me, and that's Corey Feldman. :D

I think in each version of the Turtles, they sound fine. Each voice suits their characters. Although when I first heard the new toon Raph, it sounded kind of "meh" but I got used to it. And in terms of movies I like the voices in the 2nd movie the best (especially Donatello, in terms of new voices. Leo and Mikey and Splinter had the same voices). I've never seen Next Mutation or the anime ones though...

i hate donny's voice in the old cartoon, i love most of the things from the new toon, the designs are cool and stuff, but i can't say much on the voices cuz i get them "mexican translated" which is horrible, leo's voice is not well played, raph and mikey are WAY too mexicanesque, and donny' is just fine, splinter is good, and april sounds like she was 30 or 40. From the little i've heard of the english voices i think raph's voice is a little wloverine like, thats not bad at all, i don't remember the rest.....
