In my most recent letter to the project supervisor for the TMNT project at Artisan, she had this to tell me:

"Thank you for your interest. We will be releasing the first five episodes on DVD and VHS. The DVD will also include 4 never-seen episodes. If you have any additional questions, please let me know."

No more fear of The Epic Begins for us faithful fans in America. ^_^ I'll probably ask for more clarification in a couple of weeks. Until then, rejoice about what has been disclosed.

holy CRAP!

as much as the older cartoon seems inferior compared to the current one, and that i've become an old curmudgeon about kiddified TMNT... this is still very exciting news... especially to learn of un-aired episodes.

very slick... very slick indeed. :D\m/

Great news. The first season is very good even comapred to the toons of today, I'l have to get it on DVD. Not too excited about never-seen episodes because they are probably from seasons 3-4, I hope they are written by David Wise... Well extra is extra.

Awesome news. Looks like Artisan wants to do things right. :)

The original mini-series is terrific stuff, even to this day. The animation is superb, and the writing had a little edge (which was totally lost in the seasons following, unfortunately). I'm gonna be grabbing this as soon as it's out.

And the four bonus episodes are a nice extra.

It's a good time to be a TMNT fan. :thyper:

I have all the episodes on Disk in AVI format, i want to make them into MPG files so they will work on my dvd player but i dont know how. also my disks have german subtitles. I am definetly getting this DVD and all the others they will come out with. Hears a hint, if they put every old toon episode on disks, it will be about 17 disks. anyone know a roundabout date for the release?!?!?!?!?!

Great... but, "the first five episodes" in five separate episodes or a crappy one hour long single-episode?

They have been talking about "first five" and "one hour, one ep" in the same sentence before you know, I'm just curious

5 episodes plus 4 extras on one dvd? Thats a lot of episodes for one disc. I wonder how much it will cost?

01-22-2004, 01:42 PM
YES!!! This is going to be a must own for me! Great news! Woohoo!!! :D

My logic may be faulty, but if they say the first five eps, they must mean fulls ones because "The Epic Begins" only includes scenes from four and just a brief snippet from "A Thing About Rats"

*marks his calendar*

Although I'm a bit uneasy about the 4 other eps since it'll throw off the feeling of getting the complete 1st season. Then again, I'm a purist.

Still, as Michelangelo would say......COWABUNGA!!!!!!

If ever I needed inclination to get a job again, this would be it!

is the 4 unaired episode are some plot episode?

*Bolts upright in his easy chair, knocking over a carton of apple juice and a box of animal crackers in the process*

Am I hearing what I think I'm hearing?

Bonus episodes? Four unaired shows of the original cartoon series? As in, never seen before?

:o

I'm trying not to get my hopes up (since every time I do, they get dashed to smithereens), but I'm definitely getting excited! We'll have to see how well-received this first box set is. If done right, it could lead to more box sets in the future!

Ah, yes, it's good to be a Ninja Turtles fan.

Maybe some of those scripts for episodes that were supposedly never made, were made after all. :)

I'm really hoping that its a two disc set and for a reasonable price.

Disc 1
- The original 5 part mini series (season 1)
- Interview with Laird (hopefully)
- Documentary: Turtle Mania (80's-90's)
- Other bonus features

Disc 2
- 4 unaired episodes
- Interviews with cast (who wouldn't love that?)
- Interviews with writers (could be interesting)
- Commericals (would be good times, maybe they could get the breakfast one or the clay mation pizza chips one)
- Other bonus features

The first five episodes are the first season. So, it could be a first season release with bonus episodes. I am the guy who sent in the original news post to www.tvshowsondvd.com which then sent it into www.toonzone.net. I am so happy that some sort of DVD is finally coming out! I would take just about anything!

Four unaired eps along the vein of the first five would rock! I hope that's what they are....I wonder what in the world they would be about...man, this is cool!

One other thing I'm hoping for: this new DVD had better use the remastered version of the opening title or else!

J Legault

The DVD might not sound bad to get. Since I haven't seen the old show in 9 years. So 5 episodes and 4 unaired ones sound good. When it comes out I'll let you all know how I like the Season 1 episodes atleast.

I've recieved a DVD player for Christmas, and I'm looking to expand my library... since this will be an April release, I may hopefully get it for my Birthday!!!

I see it as a 2 disk set... but I dunno, I have heard that they've crammed 7 hours of the Supranos onto one disk...

Reznorite420
01-23-2004, 09:39 AM
Oh, one MORE thing that had better be on this DVD: the sound bytes for Turtle Tracks need to be in sync with the animation.

I think Finally a Dream will be coming true. I certainly hope the complete first season is there along with the four unaired episodes. Hopefully the DVD Box Art will be the original logo and characters.

First off I gotta say yay on the dvds, and it's about darn time too! Yeah I have all the eps on AVI also, and yes also on 17 cds. I think the same ppl burn them all and they circulate around the 'net, or on eBay and ppl buy the same burned 17 cds of them. So I dunno what these missing eps could be either. I got all the eps so I'm at a loss. I hope there really ARE a few never-before-seen eps like they are saying, and that means new eps from all the ones I have on AVi also.

Different scenes of the Technodrome right?

I want it to either have the same box art as the first VHS volume or brand new box art that looks similar. I'd be okay with a simple classic logo on a turtle shell style box with some great screen caps on the back.

Another plus about this DVD us that it shouldn't cost more than 20 bucks. The MTV Spiderman series was released on DVD recently and it was 19.99. It was a two disc set with 13 episodes and bonus features.
