Well if you think about it, he can. Cerebus appeared in TMNT vol.1 # 8, and he also made an appearence in Spawn #10. So if you stretch it, he kinda can exist.

Atleast it could make for some pretty cool fanfiction. :P
Oh, and don't forget that Todd McFarlane did a Michelangelo artwork that was used as a poster.(Damn, I wish I could fins one....I NEED it....)

Well, since Vol. 1 #8 with Cerebus is being taken out of continuity to be replaced by a rewritten story...the answer is no.
Although, when the TMNT were with Image Raph appeared in the "Mars Attacks" storyline which Spawn also appeared in. But then again Image doesn't count in continuity either. So the answer is a definitive no.

By the way, here's another McFarlane cover with the TMNT:

lol - that Flaming Carrot storyline rocked!
and My take is that Spawn does not exist in TMNT continuity.
I'd say technicaly yes, until the replacement vol 1 issue eight comes out...

heh... Savage Dragon and Spawn apparently co-exist... and the TMNT/Savage Dragon crossovers certainly imply SD and the turtles co-exist.
course... then you'd have to accept all the wacky changes that Eric Larsen did to the TMNT in the image series... ;)

From an early, early issue of Spawn as spoken by the E Television reporter:
"The YoungBloods changing their costumes for one unified look? C'mon, it the myriad of colors and ensembles that took them to the top. Why in heavens name would they want to alienate their fans now?
Sex appeal has always been a big priority to the marketing geniuses behind our heroes in tights. 'Blood merchandie is over the 2.2 billion msrk already. I just knew there'd be a day they'd topple those pizza-eating turtles.
And speaking of green guys, Chicago is reporting the appearance of a Dragon, fin and all."
So, in the Spawn universe, the TMNT exist... as fictional characters. But Savage Dragon is real. And yet there have been several crossovers with Savage Dragon and TMNT co-existing, including in Dragon's own book. Arg!
Maybe it's best not to think about it.

You can't argue the Cerebus connection in the Mirage books, because Cerebus' appearance in Spawn was a dillusion, caused when Spawn activated Angela's staff, and found himself in an alternate reality. The Cerebus story (Cerebus himself is just a Cipher of Dave Sim, speaking to McFarlane (in the form of Spawn) about the importance of creators keeping their characters. The whole issue is a metaphor, not an actual part of the Spawn continuity, nor is it any part of Cerebus' continuity (not that it eve could be).
The Cerebus/TMNT crossover does indeed take place in *both* of their proper continuities. For Cerebus, it's a prequel type thing, happening before the events of his own book.
So no. Spawn deson't exist in the Mirage continuity, but he certainly exists in the Image continuity (Vol 3, the Savage Dragon crossovers, and one could even argue the Raph/Casey miniseries, also entitled Bodycount). But that's only because, at the time of the TMNT series, mage was a lot more cohesive, and crossovers were a commonplace thing.

If it goes according to Peter's plan, a new version of #8 will be replaced to replace the original version. He announced it in the comic a few months ago.
When and if this occurs, I hope they style the book like Volume 1 with the original logo.

for a good but stupid reason
Peter Laird wants to reprint older ish's. Sim says "No Cerebus". So Laird says "Fine. No Cerebus". Thus the remade sans-Cerebus version will be included in any reprints from here out. Which is ridiculous because #8 was one of the most popular TMNT books ever. :|
As I understand, Sim has some objection, so that's how it goes.
I am anxious to see how the remake works out though.

I don't know how true it is, but I have heard that Sim's intention was to help Eastman & Laird when they were struggling with their little known independant comic. Now when the TMNT is a huge business, he doesn't want to be a part of that, or something...

Was the issue without Cerebus ever reprinted?
Also did Savage Dragon guest star before TMNT being a part of Image?
Anyways, if you want to count Vol. 3 in continuity you have to count Spawn as canon since he is part of the Image universe which the turtles were. Now I'm not too familiar with the Image universe, just a few of its properties but I do know their universe is kind of a mess since all characters are creator owned and few try to follow any rules to this "universe".

Yes.
And yeah, the Image universe is nowhere near as cohesive as DC or Marvel's. It's pretty much up to each individual creator/editor whether or not their series treats it like one big universe or not. At least from what I've read.
As for whether or not the Turtles and Spawn coexist, maybe? But then you get into some funny stuff. Like, do the Turtles coexist with Frank Miller's Batman then too? And what about the huge discrepencies between the gods/dieties we see in TMNT and the ones in Spawn?

If you're doing "canon-by-proxy", then Hellboy exists in TMNT canon since he and Savage Dragon teamed up.
Which would make me so, so very happy.

Yeah, that's about the size of it.
Marvel owns every character in their universe. DC owns every character in their universe. Image is a creator-owned company (except when Todd decides that it isn't, but that's another topic altogether). As such, each character in their "universe" are owned by the individual creators.
Many creators have up and left Image, taken their characters with them and continued publishing at other companies, thus forbidding Image from publishing (or even republishing) any content with that creator's characters.
Does it mean those characters have been retroactively removed from that universe like they never existed? Hard to say. Some creators acknowledge the previous crossovers, while others don't. Savage Dragon referenced "Altered Image" a few years back when Spawn made a token cameo, and half the characters who appeared in that mini are no longer being published under Image.
Personally, I don't like to think any characters exist within the Mirage continuity unless they've actually appeared with the Turtles or have been referenced by them. Right now, asking if Spawn is a part of the TMNT's universe is going by a few degrees of separation. "Spawn's met Cerebus and the Savage Dragon. The Turtles have met Cerebus and the Savage Dragon. So therefor, Spawn must be part of the Turtles universe?"
Not quit buying it.
And ANYWAY, Spawn recently did a freaking Armageddon arc where the entire world was destroyed by God and Satan. Of course, the world was reborn, but under the condition that every person on it remember Armageddon and what God and the Devil did to them.
If the Turtles and Spawn shared a universe, you'd think that event would've effected them.
As such, no, I don't think they share a universe. The Turtles "share universes" with other characters depending on convenience of crossover, but little beyond that. Just how comics go, I'm afraid.
Well the TMNT would be in the same world as Spawn, while Batman did team up with Spawn those type of team ups like the Marve/DC ones are usually considered non-canon and even if they are they usually involve travelling from one universe to another. So in theory yeah the TMNT could potentially meet Batman/Predators/Bugs Bunny/DC/Marvel Bunny since they've all crossed over through different dimensions. But yeah The Spawn/TMNT would mean they are actually on the same earth not in different dimensions with the possibility of cross-over...
And yeah I'm sure theres tons of discrepancies between the way Spawn and TMNT treat things like Gods. But yeah the Image universe just kind of exists when there is a crossover, since all characters are creator owned that means they take their books to any direction they want, crossovers just happen since they're buddies. And while a few books do try to make the image universe into a cohesive one like Marvel/DC a lot don't, yet you still see the other characters in big events, like recently I was reminded of the Image universe when Al Simmons came back not in the Spawn book but in a Image event.
Well its not just that, V.3 incorporated officially TMNT into the Image universe as incohesive as it may be.

Well that goes can go to DC/Marvel too, its just a problem there is with comics. How come a big event in Fantastic Four were half of NY is affected yet we get no Daredevil or Spiderman doing anything about it. Especially since most Marvel heroes reside in NY. Its just something that you have to not look to deep into in comics.
And yeah you can chose to ignore it but technically TMNT would indeed be a part of the Image universe...
Heck TNM makes Power Rangers canon to that universe which is based on the movie universe which means that all of Power Rangers is canon to the first TMNT movie ;)
I love continuity and canon as much as the next guy but counting how messy are comics its best to ignore stuff like this since you can't possibly make any sense out of it.

While I consider the SD cross-overs canon, they're pretty much just for fun and weren't meant to carry any baggage into one anothers continuity.

I'm not saying they don't sometimes handle it in uniquely stupid ways (I hate all the "Crisis" storylines), but they usually save the global/galactic catastrophies for multi-title events.

Y'know, if you play six degrees of Al Simmons long enough, I bet you'd find out that technically, every major comic character, more or less could in tangent be connected to the Turtles universe. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if enough threads would end up making Archie and Mirage part of the same universe, using that same logic.
I was looking through my posts and found one from a while ago were someone mentioned how they crossed over in the Mars Attack event.
regardless, even though I'm fighting that they are in the same world/continuity at least in vol.3. I really don't like the idea of both of them at the same time, I just don't like superheroes in the TMNT universe, which is why I don't like Silver Sentry. The PR team up, was both of my main childhood franchises meeting and yet I don't like the idea that they share a universe.
Also a thread just below this one someone told me the issue without Cerebus was made but in this thread I was told it wasn't...so which one is true?

Not same universe but Cowlick the cow did bring the Archie TMNT to meet up Archie, he explains different universes not the same galaxy and what not for the meet up. But yeah you can say the TMNT is connected to every major comic book and that goes for any comic book as well.

It was made. Written by Laird and drawn by Lawson. However, it has only been released in a Spanish language collection of Volume 1 issues, published in Latin America, I think. Roseangelo has a copy.
The original English language version has yet to be published and may never be, if Laird and Sims have apparently worked things out (the original version appearing in the recent Volume 1 collection from last year).
So yes. It exists. It's just in Spanish.
What was he replaced with exactly?
I'm assuming the dialog and events were all the same just with a different character art.

Yep! That's it.
Scans/photos aren't the best, but even at that resolution...yuck. His style really does clash with the old Eastman/Laird stuff.
If the thing's never published again...no huge loss, in my opinion.

Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog crossed over with the Image Universe. Sonic also crossed over with Sabrina the Teenage Witch, whom I assume crossed over with Archie himself at some point. And, of course, Archie met the Archie TMNT.
So it's possible.
Inconceivable.
But possible.
