Anime turtles

In my opinion, the Japanese version of the Ninja Turtles is just plain weird,

However if it was realised on our shores, wouldn't it be cool if they hired Sam Regal, Michael Sinterniklaas, Wayne Grayson, Frank Frankson, Darren Dunstan, Veronica Taylor, Marc Thompson (Is Casey was in this series), and Scottie Ray to star in the English language version?

Man, I'll admit the super turtles one was pretty awful, but I thought the armored turtles were pretty sweet.

Casey Jones wasn't in the series, as this was an extention of the original cartoon, and Casey was in one (or maybe 2) episodes.

The episode I've reviewed on SC (http://www.scary-crayon.com/spectare/tmntova1/) -- with the SUUUUPA TATORUSU!!!! -- is the first ep. The second one's got the Metal Turtles -- if you remember the figures, they were the ones that came with shiny metal armor that could be worn or made into a little guardian animal to fight alongside the figure. (Anyone wanna donate any? :goofygri: I've only got Shredder.) I'll be reviewing that one in a few weeks or so, though I've gotta say that it can't touch the wackiness of the first ep.

And while there were only two episodes, apparently the TMNT manga (yes, Virginia, there is a manga too) was three parts, so I think that explains the "missing" episode that's recapped in the first ep of the anime.

I was able to buy a DVD off of ebay that contains both anime episodes. The cover's in Japanese, but it has (badly done) English subtitles. The first episode had the TMNT squaring off against Shredder, Krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady. They were trying to revive Mu (??), a dark fairy of destruction. The turtles themselves had a fairy of light on their side (don't remember her name), which gave them the power to transform into "super" turtles. Almost like Power Rangers.

The second episode (which I enjoyed more) follows the turtles as they head to Japan with Splinter and April. They meet up with a ninja clan that guards a relic of great power. I believe there were seven crystals, each holding an animal "spirit." To make a long story short, Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady get three, while the turtles get four of the crystals.

That's as much as I can remember off the top of my head. Haven't seen the eps in a while.

Yeah I keep forgetting to go look for the manga whenever I go to Japanese bookstores. Hopefully next time I will remember.

I kind of don't care for the whole super turtles idea, they're best as themselves, IMO.

Krangs voice is hilarious though, so wimpy!!! Haaahahahaha!


What's with those little fairy thingies? I like the dark one better. I can see her better... the resolution on these is bright as hell. Can barely make out what's going on...

If I could find a region free or region one VCD/ DVD of this thing Cheap, I would like to check it out. it looks like a mixed bag. I don't like how it gets all Sailor Moon... but at least they don't have lame arse romantic subplots (Yes... I do not like Sailor Moon)

With my experiance reading Kinnikuman mangas (You know that Ultimate Muscle Business? Well... Ultimate Muscle is a lame kiddyfied sequal to a much better series called Kinnikuman. It's leaps and bounds better! I enjoed reading it. Especially how it parodies American Superheroes in the first Issue!) Chojin is the Japanese equivillent of "Super Hero." That's all I know.

But what REALLY gets me is how the TMNT look like Wolverine.

I thought these episodes were better than a lot of the lame eps we were treated to here in the US way back when. Perhaps the most outrageous part of these anime eps was in ep1. Towards the end, when Kris-Mu sneaks up behind Dark-Mu to hold her still while the turtles seal her away, you can clearly see DM *ahem' bouncing as KM grabs her. Guess them Japanese folks didn't realize that it was children's entertainment they were continuing.

Well... based on how she was dressed.. and the way her body kinda jolted as she was suddenly grabbed... those goodies of hers would bounce. Kudos for anime being a bit more realistic. I mean, April's jugs are almost out of her outfit sometimes...she musta worn a hell of a tight bra on to keep em place during all 10 seasons.
