How many episodes will the DVD feature?

And will all 197 episodes eventually get released on DVDs?

It would be cool if every season was released...It'd be a dream come true to own all the eps and finally watch them all! :D

But alas this probably will not happen. :(

We'll just have to convince about half of the earths population that they have to own the dvds. When artisan is selling that amount of copies, the just can't let it go without releasing everything they have :D

So... what'll it be? mass hypnosis, threats, some strange drug or an official law? :P

We don't know how man for sure are planned for the DVD. 9 have been rumored (the original 5 + 4 never before seen episodes) but it's still up in the air.

I hope all 193 are, but it will depend on how well the sales are.

What Artisan is probably (hopefully?) doing is 'testing the waters'... Other animated series have been initially released in a similar fashion (such as Batman: The Animated Series, Transformers, etc...), with usually four of five episodes a disc, to see how the sales are. Later, the shows are released in seasonal boxed sets (Transformers has had a few seasons released, and Batman: TAS boxed sets are coming this summer, I believe).

Fortunately, in the old TMNT series' case, the first five episodes also make up the entire first season.
