Shredder costumes.

I've noticed how in the different versions of TMNT, The Shredder has a number of different costumes,

In the Mirage comics, Shredder simply wears a samurai mask/helmet and bladed pads on his shoulders, arms and lefts. He dresses the same way in The Next Mutation, the old toon and in the movies, but in the films/old cartoon a cape has been added.

Whereas in both the new show and the anime show, Shredder wears a whole suit of samurai armour encrusted with blades.

I like the original version. I like the new toon look but it just looks a bit cooler for Shredder to be wearing a more no frills type of outfit since he is going into battle with ninjas.

Good lines, painfully bad execution. Actually, he didn't have very many good lines either.. One of the funniest things in Next Mutation though is when Raphael is dribbling Wick like a basketball, and Dragon Loard shouts "Double dribble, the TURTLE CHEATS!"

Ahem.. Sorry, went COMPLETELY off subject there. The most bad ass Shredder of all of them is without question Shredder 2003. The movie Shredder is a close 2nd.

..but I voted for the new toon Shredder because he looks so cool (not the pic Jarrah put because he has the weird light blue body armour and all that), he definitely looks better with one long shredding claw rather than two little ones and the whole suit is badass (for want of putting it a better way :P )

I'd have to say the costume Shredder wears in the first movie is pretty good...he's just flat out dominating there. I DON'T however like the costume for the second movie...the helmet is just too ridiculous. Also the fact that its a different actor (I think) in the second ruins it too.

New Toon Shredder by far is superior. Just love the look of it. Even if it is Darth Vaderish. Second to that is Classic Toon. Still like the first movie Shredder, but TMNT II and especially Super Shredder sucked. Mirage Shredder scrapes the bottom of the barrel. And then the rest suck. :)

I think that the red one (that looks like from the TMNT first film) that he wears in TMNT Tournament Fighters for SNES is the coolest one.
But the TMNT arcade game and turtles in time costume were cool too but a little bit exaggerate, specially the pink part...

My Favorite is the Original outfit but since the movie one is exactly the same desing minus the cape, they share the first spot. Next would probably be the New toon. Old cartoon also had pretty much same desing as the Original, but I don't care for the colouring that much so it gets the third place.

Well, in my opinion, the new toon armor is definitely the best. It makes the Shredder the the badass that he is. The Mirage classic follows a close second. It keeps in mind that Shredder is an assassin, after all.

The first movie one his face plate is too big and it's weird how it is see through.
Plus it is obvious it is a little guy in a big costume.

I had to cast my lot with the Mirage comic Shredder -- not only because of the costume, but because of the overall grittiness of the look, I guess. The new toon Shredder looks pretty badass, but there's something a bit too otherworldly about him. :roll:

If we were going for sheer hilarity, though, the anime Shredder would've won hands down -- not only does he transform into a gigantic Dinobots dragon, but dude's costume doesn't even have any blades!

And Shreddette: In response to your comment, I was going to suggest Bolo Yeung (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001866/) of Bloodsport fame (though he's Cantonese, properly speaking, I think). However, according to this imdb bio, he's only 5'6"! He looks way bigger than that. And I guess he wouldn't need to be that huge anyway, since the Turtles are supposed to be under 5'...

I did like the look of the movie Shredder, though, and the fact that he took on all four Turtles by himself -- he didn't need to be big to be badass. New toon Shredder cheats too much.

Yah Wes, they could always give him a costume that makes him look taller by giving his shoes a hoist, platform style or sommin'.... if they need to anyways.

I took a loot at some pics of the guy on a search, not too bad. Pretty build actually-- the shoulders are big. That's required for a good, convincing Shredder, I should think. Big arms chest and shoulders.

I think the best candidate for being the Shredder would be someone most people would perhaps disagree with because he isn't japanese or chinese.... some people might not even want a ch inese man playing a japanese character (trivial but true) however he does have some Samoan in him, so his eyes could pass just enough to be Shredder... and he's a naturally huge guy-- The Rock :D (now when I say people might mind a chinese person playing japanese, The Rock was gonna play a part of a Hawaiian king, maybe still will I forget-- anyways, lots of Hawaiians were against it because he's Samoan, and not entirely Hawaiian because he is also part black... I think it's stupid because he played The Scorpion King just perfect, and he's not Egyptian now, is he? Riiiiiiiiight... :roll: god people are so annoying sometimes).

Of course me being a huge Rocky fan, I'd love to see him in every movie made from now on :lol:

But there doesn't need to be another live-action TMNT movie anyway. Now another anime, perhaps...

Although personally I'd like to see a live-action series like Next Mutation hit it big again, just so I could snag the related toys. I missed out the first time, and they were some pretty cool figs... :(

Seriously though, I can understand why you'd feel that way but lots of people are underestimating him and labelling him wrestler-wannabe-actor like Hulk Hogan. Ugh... that was a mistake... and it's sad people use that as an automatic label for him, because WWF is sorta known for it's cheese and big, dumb wrasslers who can't really act.

People who are good, faithful fans of Rocky know he can act, and keeps getting better every time. And I can say this without cringing.
Although if you only saw the Scorpion King I can see why you might think he can't act... his role wasn't given much in the way of dialogue, it's not his fault he was given a character that is supposed to be Conan-esque. The strong, silent type... who when he does speak says very little. Seeing him in the Rundown he was even better. He works incredibly hard at what he does, and even the worst critics are starting to see that they were wrong.
His performances as a wrestler are supposed to be exaggerated and slightly goofy, that's all part of WWF.

I really think he could pull it off, not just because he's hot and I wanna see him in Teh Shredder's uniform! :D

Point taken. However, there are other factors in this "fight", including whether blades would be an effective "deterrent". They wouldn't. But I know I couldn't really win. Yeah, Shredder taken out by a 115 pound comic book artist, that'll happen. If I wore a Pimiko-type costume I might get some distraction points though...

Shreddette: I never said I disliked the Rock -- I used to be a fan of wrestling (back when Kane still wore a mask and Undertaker was Undertaker and before they "got the 'F' out") and the Rock was always great to watch in the ring. He's just not Shredder material. When you look at the Rock, for example, you might think many things, but I'm betting "ninja" isn't one of them. He's got a very different kind of presence, and though The Scorpion King was horrid, Rock was good for that kind of role. And Rock has the face of a face, as the wrestling fans say -- not a heel. Not that I think HHH could play the part, either. :P
