New TMNT Character designs and Theme Song thoughts?

I was expecting something a little more hard edged maybe like the turtle designs from the original TMNT aniamted intro.

Here are the lyrics to the new theme and i might have mistaken a line or two with my transcription of it, the old theme had more interesting music than the new theme and the lyrics were more catchy.

For comparison between the new and the original theme.

Personally, I don't really like the song either. I totally would have prefered a re-done version of the original theme... make it darker, rock harder... yeah, that would have been good. :)

My opinion: I love the new theme song. And I love the new look and feel of the turtles. Not to say I don't like the old cartoon, but I think this one fits my tastes better.

Did anyone here the toy commercials for the transformers robots in disguise, it was soooo awesome, everone was hoping it would be the intro to the cartoon, but it wasn't. I am not really a fan of this new theme song. But I am such a stickler for new things. I never like change at first, but then I learn to like it. I'm sure if I listen to the theme song again, it will slowly grow on me.

As for the look, I just can't say that I like it. I don't like the darker turtles, in all honesty. That's just not what works for me. I'm not saying they're better or worse than the light-hearted turtles; I'm just saying that it doesn't suit my tastes. :tpizza:

I'm downloading the theme right now, so I don't have an opinion on it yet. As for the cartoon design, I think the new turtles look quite studly. Not at all goofy. Even Mike who is acting a bit goofy still looks dangerous. I hope they've made Shredder even more studly as well. (Mmm... studly Shredder...) Maybe with a little luck Splinter will be a bit studly as well. I hope he looks good. (Crosses fingers for a Splinter that looks like a rat, not a dog.)

Now I've just listened to the song a couple times. I can't say whether I like it more than the old theme, but I do like it. And no, I don't think the song is studly.

I really like how the TMNT look on the Fox Box site. Of course, looks aren't everything. I'm still worried about the VAs and the storylines... I'm not worried about the new theme song, though. I like it, and I think it'll appeal to young kids (who are the target audience, not us "old timers"... *sigh*).

I don't really like the new theme. In fact I think it's pretty awful. That "It's a whole new shell game" line is terrible. The bg music is nice so I can deal with it like that, but it doesn't hold a candle to the original theme.

The character designs are terrific though. I can't wait to see more!

While i prefer the old toon's season 1 design of the turtles, i wouldn't want it in the new cartoon...i want to see a new tmnt cartoon, with new characters design...or else it wouldn't be that new...but i think i'd prefered the theme of the new toon to be a remix of the old theme, kind of like what they did with the transformers armada theme.

Also, not that I'm against remixing the old theme, I just think that an all new song is a good idea. After all, this is an all new series, and they're trying to take it in a different direction than the original series. No matter what, they aren't going to please everyone, no matter what they do to the song.

I agree with Kali... They're making this an entirely new show, seperate from the original toon. From the looks of it, we're going to have a new TMNT universe to join all of the others. I can already see a flood of fanfics inspired by the new series... :embarass:

I'm actually curious as to what the VAs will sound like. Dones't matter to me if they are not famous names, just as long as they sound as studlee as they look. :wink:

In the early 90's fox had some great cartoons. The Tick, Spider-Man, some would say X-Men, Eek the Cat (well it was funny), and a few others were very good. I can even admit that the original MMPR was pretty neat, but everything in the late 90's has been terrible. I'm not sure if the Fox Box will break the ugly cycle, but TMNT alone gives me enough reason to have a little faith in it.

I think there's a far less chance of Fox dropping the ball on this one, with Peter involved. I mean, come on. Peter knows this could be his one chance to bring the TMNT back into the limelight, if it bombs then everything else that's planned could drop. Besides, with Peter actively involved as he is, I think the new toon will rock.

How good they actually make the series will depend whether or not it fails. If it is successful then there is a really high chance that the entire cartoon dvd will be released. I hope the best for the new cartoon but who knows how it will turn out. I will certainly miss Krang but I guess Baxter might do a good job as Shredder's assistant.

I Didn't like the new theme song when I first heard it... but it grew on me and now I really enjoy it. It does have that Next Mutation Sound to it though. BUt the look of the new turtles is totally kickin. I cannot wait for the new toys and the show to come out! I'm counting down the days till the show comes out (not literally. but I'll be marking my calendar when I get a set day!)

Hrm.. which makes me wonder... I don't think Don will have his infamous computer lab in the new cartoon either. You think he'll be inventing crazy stuff like he was in the first cartoon?

Well, according to something I read (I think it was ToyFare or whatever that magazine is called) that he will be inventing, and "turtlefying" everything while he's at it.

Hey, I like HP. The books anyway. They're very well written and exciting and fiction. I think Don might be able to appreciate the books for what they are, good reading. I highly doubt he'd become an obsessed fan.

I didn't like HP so I can't really say, I doubt donny will make stuff like dimensional portals and hyper turtle sonar, but he will be a scientific genius which he will probebley use to solve mysteries maybe?

i would like to see Michelangelo get involved in different art mediums: writing, music, painting, etc.....

I would also like to see a big emphasis on actual martial arts and ninjutsu training/philosophy. It would add a little more depth and vitality to the show.

the characters are kool. splinter is weird looking but I'm so used to him in the older cartoon. the theme sucks and sounds like it was done in 10 minutes.

First I'd like to say that I am new to this forum, and I am a long time fan of TMNT (since first grade!!!)

Now..as too the new series. I have a personal dislike of 4Kids Enterment, mainly for their poor use of anime. However, I believe that the creators and Mirage Studios are making sure that the series stays as far away from the old cartoon as possible. (Such as the actualy designs)

Another thing..THE TOYS ARE OUT!!! Only..just in Puetro Rico.. :x
