View Full Version : What if the New Cartoon was really bad

I am only speaking in unrealistic terms, but what if the new cartoon fell way below expectations, from the looks of it, I bet it wont, but what would you do then
would you still get up n the morning to watch the cartoon, buy all the stuff realteing to the new cartoon (DVD's and stuff down the road)
EVEN if i hated the cartoon with all my heart, i would still watch it no matter what
Don't get me wrong, the show looks great to me, I just hope it doesn't turn out to be horrible

Supposing the new cartoon would be bad, i would still watch it, no matter how bad it is...i've already learned from my mistakes...i thought next mutation was bad so i didn't watched it, and now untill today i regret that choice :ohwell:
But it looks good so far, i don't think it will be bad :)

If turtles look like that and the plots are from mirage i can't believe it would be bad... I have noticed that i even like movies that my friends say are bad... Only thing that could be bad is the fighting scenes... That is an important part of the show...

yeah... it's possibly to be scared... after being burned twice from Image comics and TNM (or thrice if you count the third movie).
But I think the Mirage guys learned their lessons... and will give it their all to make sure this show won't totally suck. :P

Yeah this time Peter is closely involved with the project unlike the first cartoon or next mutation. Especially in next mutation fox called the shots and that's what made it bad...

I have high hopes for this new show, but even if it doesn't live up to expectations, I will loyally follow the cartoon and continue to support the TMNT. Of course, since I'm an optimist, I don't think the cartoon is going to be bad at all. :D
I agree, it would have to be really bad in order to get me to not watch it. But considering who is behind it, I doubt it'll be that bad, and I have high hopes from what I've seen so far.

I really hope it does well, but in today's world, kids may think of the Ninja Turtles as old and outdated. The show will have to clamor to today's audience. It also might have to answer to the parents council, or whatever that thing is.
I want the show to do well. I really do. But if history is any indication, it will have a short run and be forgotten.

I've worried about that too and if they do pander to kids now they will loose many old fans such as myself :x well after sitting through the hell of the foxbox program and seeing what kids like now, we may have trouble :(

Heh... Well, if what I saw at Toys R Us was any indication... I think the TMNT are headed for mainstream media once again. A lot of the kids who opened up their Fox Boxes got really excited over the TMNT mini comic. I was surprised that some of them even knew who the Ninja Turtles were!! One little girl (about age 6 or 7) ran around her mother squealing over the Ninja Turtles. I think the next generation of kids are going to enjoy the TMNT as much as we did. :anime:

If the plots are from the Mirage comic series, I'm sure they'll be good. I'm kind of afraid that the new toon will be kind of humor-challenged though. (Think about seasons 7-10 of the old toon.) (And contrary to what Mr. Laird thinks, the old toon wasn't all slapstick and juvenile humor.)

Yeah the old seris had really good episodes here and there... But I will always love the first season...
I have really high hopes for the new show. I've seen the fight scenes on MIB and Jackie Chan and they're really good and exciting. And given how they've discribed Mikey, I doubt we'll be wanting for better humor. But we'll have to see.
That is such a cute story, Azure.

Yep... I think the kids are in safe hands with the TMNT. :anime:
I really enjoy watching Jackie Chan Adventures... When I first heard about it, I thought it was going to be real corny. But the storylines are entertaining, the animation is cool, and the fight scenes are well done. Lots of comedy too, especially with Uncle. That guy is too funny.
All we can do now is hope that the new TMNT cartoon gets off the ground without any complications. And speculating about it is always fun.

I think it's so funny how so many people despise the new theme song. I'm sure there were a lot of older people who thought the original theme was terrible or too corny. I grew up on that theme song, which is why I enjoy it, even though playing it annoys the hell out of my family. Kids who watch this new show will end up having the same feelings over the new theme song... It'll be their song, just like the original was ours. :)

I thought the Turtles' voices were great in season 1, but Leonardo and Donatello got worse as the series progressed. Leonardo, instead of having his low, grimly determined voice, changed to a annoying high-pitched and sometimes squeaky voice. Donatello's voice turned into that of an effete snob.
Raphael's voice was great, as long as Rob Paulsen was doing the voice.
Michaelangelo's voice was okay, it was just what came out of his mouth that was dumb.
Splinter's voice was way too soft in later seasons.
April was pretty solid.
Vernon had the most annoying voice in the toon, hands down. Thank God he won't be reappearing (I hope).

Pssst, Karpo... That was three words. ;)
I think the old VAs could pull off the voices for the new cartoon if they sounded a lower and a bit rougher. Coleman could ease up on Mike's voice, and lose the surfer lingo.

With the Jackie Chan crew behind it, I wonder if the series writing will be as captivating as Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot, which they also made. A truly underrated comic-based series that was cancelled way before it's time.
After seeing a reflux of 80s properties come back resently, like the new He-Man show, which appears to be pretty good so far... I don't think there will be much to worry about. Then again, it could end up like Transformers: Armada... which makes me want to cry.
I'll hope for the best.

Mikey *pouting* But... I wanted to have Klunk in the show too, cause then he could be our Ninja Kitty sidekick!

I dunno, but the new look for the turtles seem to have a bit of anime influence to me. Maybe it's the way the shading is done, or the expressive eyes. It's too early to say for sure. I know that Jackie Chan Adventures definitely has a lot of anime influence, but the MIB cartoon didn't look like anime at all. We'll just have to wait and see...
LOL @ HT!!! Time to stop eating all the peanut brittle, dudette. ;) But wouldn't it be funny to see Mikey summon Klunk for some sort of bizarre attack??

*notices the garrish typos and fixes them* eheh....
The only thing anime about TMNT were that handfull of episodes a Japanese company made after the TMNT cartoon. If anything, the Mirage storyline borrowed off of the Daredevil comic origins. It's all comic book or movie influenced, the TMNT are.

Yeah, that's what i was worried about. I dont want to see that sweatdrop-on-the-side-of-the-head thing, or the big eyelashes, or the giant circled mouths, or any of that stuff...*cringe*...normal drawings thank you very much!
I dont wanna see anime TMNT for two reasons.... 1) anime= japanes animation, and this isn't don by the japanese. 2) The TMNT were not meant to be anime ish. Also, the drawings have no simiarities to anime at all. I dont see how Jackie Chan looks anime at all either, besides the Jade.
Well, they do do a lot of exaggerated expressions in Jackie Chan, which is inspired by anime and manga.
I doubt they'll have those "silly" anime things like sweatdrops and huge eyes and such, but not all anime is silly. I don't want a total anime style TMNT show, but it would be neat to have a few touches here and there.

Well the kiddie aimes like pokemon and such are bad. But there are much more into anime than that. Ypu will never see so violent anmation than in anime. You can hardly see blood in western cartoons... In anime you can see someones brains blow out at close range... And then anime has those Mechas... But thats another story..

It is completely possible to have a cartoon that appeals to kids and draws them in and yet still has an intelligent enough story and characters to bring in adults. It's been done before. The original show would not have half the fanbase it does now if it wasn't a show that someone of any age could sit down and watch without feeling their intelligence is being insulted. Considering everything being pushed into this cartoon, I doubt we have anything to worry about.
Also, as for the anime-razings: not all anime is piddly little Pokémon crap like quite a few of you seem to think. Go watch the third season of Digimon all the way through and then look me in the face and tell me that, even for a show that's pegged as a "pokémon clone" and a "cheap kiddy show", it was a good watch with a mature plot and interesting characters. And if you say it wasn't, I'll stab your eyes out with my sai.
