TMNT Cereal comics... another concept for Wingnut?

Anyone remember those TMNT cereals that came with a 3 part mini comic adventure? Well the plot was simple and full of characters. Ok, basically the TMNT are hanging with Casey, and Baxterfly kidnaps him. Baxter and Shredder want to mutate Casey into some kind of octopus mutant. The tmnt come in to save him, so Shredder calls in Wingnut to attack him. After the tmnt deal with Wingnut, Shredder attacks em with a giant Mouser and Man Ray appears and helps them defeat him. Yes, he's called Man Ray here. The comics are kinda drawn how Laird and Eastman draws em, I think they had somethin to do with em.

The question is with Wingnut. Here he looks like a tough mutha with leather pants, leather gloves, rockets on his wings and a bad ass gun. he was defeated when his rockets were destroyed. Later in the toys and archie comics, he appeared with metal wings strapped to his small ones, and he was alot more goofy, crazy and childish, and had that Screwloose as his sidekick. Was this guntotin Wingnut Laird/Eastman's original take on the character before he got all goofy?

Honestly, I've got no clue, but if it's any cosolation to you he was still pretty badass in TMNT Tournament Fighters on SNES. Yeah, he was still kinda goofy, but he was the only character whose super move could outright kill an enemy character (that is, at full power) with the right positioning.

I do remember the cereal comic you're talking about, though -- odds are I've got it hidden away somewhere. Just yesterday I found issue #2, with Man-Ray (i.e. Ray Fillet) and Shredder's giant mouser robot. Maybe I should review it! 8)

Yeah, I think these comics did come out before Adventures #8..but I'm not sure. I know they were the very first "prizes" offered in TMNT cereal. I thought they were cool because it was pretty rare for Eastman and Laird to draw a "cartoon" Turtles comic.
It's been years since I've read them, but I believe Shredder turned Casey Jones into a fish or something? I don't think April was in these comics either. I have them buried somewhere, maybe I'll fish them out.

It was way before TMNTA # 8. Cause the first time I ever saw Wingnut was in that comic. Since he was never in the cartoon or had a figure or anything at the time, I was confused as hell as to who he was. Then when he made his first appearance in Archie comics.. I was even more confused as hell to see in a different form and with Screwloose.


April nor Splinter were in the comics. The TMNT were playing baseball with Casey before their adventure started. Baxter snagged one of the tutles' ninja nets (since the cereal came with ninja nets, we now assume the tmnt use ninja nets) to capture Casey.
